During the summer months our son Brett and Casey came down for a visit and a vacation... we really enjoyed our time together... One day we went up to Mount Mitchell.. which is about two hours from us ... due to mountain travel... and it is the highest point east of the Mississippi River... so it was a very enjoyable day and trip...
We traveled along the Blue Ridge Parkway, and if you have ever been on that road, you know that ever so often, if there is something really wonderful to see, they make a little extra place for everyone to pull over... the people are really very polite on the road.. and most go very slow... which is such a pleasure from everyday fast paced driving... Anyway... this was one of the first pull overs that we stopped at... it was looking westward... and just over that last mountain is Tennessee... so you know that we are up pretty high... and the air is sweet and cool. Just beautiful in all ways...
I have made over 100 Scrapbooks... ugh... that is why I started to make cards.. I ran out of room, and also what are you going to do with all these books??? Oh well.. I am making another one... and I will enjoy making it... as my style of scrapping has really changed since last year... The page is 8.5 X 8.5 and I will bind it when it is done... the base of each page, white cardstock... and there will be no plastic pages ... just pages that you can touch and enjoy all the texture...
That is why I wanted to show you this one... as I used some paper... that I was saving.. it was made by Provo craft ( the makers of Cricut and Cuttlebug) and it is paper from Africa... and it is made from Wild grasses and elephant dungalong with other natural items that are found locally that the women can make paper with!!!! Anyway ... the texture is lovely... and very unique... to say the least.. The other texture is the corrugated paper from a spice bottle... I distressed it a little more... but a nice rough look..
Okay... there is another motive too.. it is for a couple of challenges... Yesterday I found a challenge that I really loved... it is by Papercraft Star... you can find their location by clicking on thier badge on the bottom of the blog... and they gave us a picture and we were to use it to make a card/or what ever we chose... you could use the colors, the feeling, anything... so after studying it for a while... I felt it was a warming feeling... (being with Brett and Casey) and that it was natural... ( t he mountains and local area) and that the colors were very nice too.. and so I thought I had better start on this scrapbook of our days in the mountains... as Glenn and I are going up there in a few weeks to see the fall leaves... what a pleasure that will be... I will show you that trip too.. but it will all go into this book... which will be titled Mount Mitchell year round..
Here is the picture that spurred me into this.. so now you can see part of the page...
Then when I went to look at other challenges, I saw the one with Distress it... by Stamptacular Sunday Challenge, and then Stamping Vacation... I have used that one so many times this week.. but I love the challenge... you have to pick three items from a list... cirlce tag, string, vellum, frame, brad, black paper, eyelet, anything yellow... so I used three... string... I used hemp twine, and then a frame, and then brads... Then on SCS (WT287) the challenge today was to use twine... so the twine covered two challenges...
Then, last but not least... Pile it on Sunday Challenge #35... create with many layers... and as many challenges... which I have done... there are 8 layers on this page... I think you can safely say I LOVE LAYRERS... what I have trouble with is clean and simple!!!! Not that is hard for me..
So there you have it... the first page... as time goes on, you will see more.. I am going to try and keep the book to these theme... but I do know when we go to see the fall leaves... all color will BREAK LOOSE!!!! That is a given.. in all ways...
Thanks for stopping by for a visit...
Love for you to leave me a message or comment... thanks for very much for each and every one that is left... I love them all. and I do read them all too..
