A Pink Book... with a BLUE flower

This week on the Shabby Tea Room challenge it is all about BOOKS... and so I thought that since I really don't have a stamp that is a book... and I wasnt' really into books that way, I would MAKE a book... a small little book...  a cute small little book... that can be mailed easily to a special friend...  (I have a lot of special friends ... they are the ones that love pretty things and are special to ME)

There is a picture on the challenge also... it is light blue, soft pinks and white... so I made this project with that in mind...

This is a tiny little book... but it has a lot in it.. .lots of pages to put special little things, like pictures, words, thoughts and fun little things...  perfect for a gift...

I so love making flowers... and so I made this one BLUE for the blue in this project...

This picture really doesn't show the lightness of the pink properly. .but it does show the size... only 3 inches tall... and only 2 inches wide... a small little book...

And it opens into a lot of little pages... just perfect to share with... what fun is this...  all in pinks... her favorite color...  she is have shoulder surgery in a week... and her birthday is also coming up... so I need to pamper her a little bit... and she is always sending me such pretty tags, and banners of love etc... so I have to create a special box to put all these things in, that she can open with one hand... and play with these things...  a special gift for a special friend... I can write about this... as she doesn't have a  computer... so she will still be surprised... the best part of it all..

Thanks for stopping by for a visit ... and thanks also to all the Design Team for Shabby Tea Room, for their inspirational devotion every week to produce a wonderful site and these fun challenges... thanks a million to you all..

Hope you will stop in and take a peek and leave some love there too..

thanks for all that you leave here too.. I really love all your comments and cherish each and every one of them...

Vintage Travel with Frilly and Funkie

Well I had to create some more things... and also wanted to show you the little book I had created for the little blue suitcase...  so I have to show you these two things...

This week on Frilly and Funkie Challenge... it is VINTAGE TRAVEL... so I again had a lot of fun doing more things...

This is a tiny little book... only 2 X 2.5 inches... and I used a sizzix die cut for the little folders... tiny little book... and I had so very much fun making it...

the cover is paper I made using my distress inks and water... love doing that... then I used some texture paste to make the seahorse...
Oh the stencil for that... EVERY die cut you own is a stencil maker... so I used a Cuttlebug die of this seahorse... how cute is that...
added some pearls for bubbles and LOVE IT..

I really dont' like to throw too much away... and these were 1/2 inch and smaller  pieces of paper and I wove them to create the inside of this little book... and another texture paste seahorse on the inside...  with more pearls...

All the paper on the inside were from a Graphic 45 pad on Sea... can't remember the name ... but I am sure if you are into Graphic 45 you know the name...  (sometimes I can't remember the names of things to save my life... and I am quite far from my studio right now... so sorry)

I made little pickets to put some pictures of your vacation into... and also some cute little tags to adorn them too..

I used Faded jean Distress ink on all the folders.. and some of the papers as you can see here I also made with distress inks and water.

Adding things like sand dollars, special netting tapes..

some star fish... and more fancy papers... and those little children are so very precious... had to add them...

In between all these pages are graphic 45 paper that you can add two or more pictures to... so this little book will hold a lot and still fit into that little suitcase... the smallest one of all of them...

A little pocket and also lots of space for writing and journaling...  all about the trip and traveling...

Now I also did a few ATC's for you to see...
This first one is a picture of my Mom... when she was 3... she just passed away this February... and she was 94... so she lived a very long happy life...  so this picture is a little vintage... at least I would call it vintage... check out that car...

Another vintage family picture... of my grandmother a year after she graduated from college... she and a few of her friends went to Europe for a summer vacation... wow... nice huh???

She is the one in the back... she might look tall... but I bet she was standing on a trunk... LOL...  the little tag says...

I never seen such wild wimin... in my life...

I don't know where I got that... but I had to use it... that was a wild trip back then for three women to take ALONE!!!!

It was in the late 1800's... VINTAGE...

Just some old clip art but fun...

Another old clip art on a piece of an old map...

So I did have more fun with this theme... hope you will join in on this challenge and make something really wild too...

There are some really nice entries... please check them out...

Thanks for stopping by for a visit... and see you soon... I have been working on some special pieces that are not finished yet... hoping to have them done soon.. .

Sunday Stamper Birthday Book

Today is Sunday...  And it is time for Hels's Sunday Stamper Challenge... and this week.. it is BOOKS... make a book or use a book page etc...

Well I have been working on this little book for the past couple of months... reason being is that I needed more time to actually finish it up...  and put some more things into the pockets...  and finally I finished it yesterday...  I love it... and I didnt' know when I started it what I was going to use if for... and when I finished it... I realized I needed a birthday book.. so that is what it is...  there are 12 sections to the book and each has a pocket, with a few tags in each and just enough room to write each of my special friends, family and others birthdays onto the tag...  and I got all the birthdays even into it yesterday!!!!

So here it is... my little book is about 4X4 inches... not really big at all... but big enough...

This little book is made with white cardstock...  and each page is colored with Distress Inks...  and I have used Tim's stamps and those fun little stickers ... I love them...  great things that match his stamps...  if you haven't tried them yet... do... you will enjoy them... perfect for something small like this... and the impact is GREAT... you will see...

I used some other things in the ideology section of his STUFF...
like the tape for closing the book...

This little book will be able to stay by my computer as it is small enough and I can see whose birthday is when.... a great little tool for me... as I can't remember these things...

I used a piece of tissue tape in each section of the book... love that stuff...  and used it on some tags too... all the sections have similar tags.. one is really narrow... for small little thoughts etc... and then there is a larger one with a piece of ribbon or fiber on it... and then there is a smaller tag ... 2.5 X 3 inches and on the back... the birthday, typed out and glued onto the back... the front of these tags have some chit chat... and other things on them... just fun tags..

I will let you look...

In making this book.. it was really easy... since it is an accordion book.. I glues pieces of paper together to form a long strip... and then folded up the bottom of the strip to form the pocket... and then folded the pages to form the accordion style book... really so very easy... The most fun was getting all the white turned into yummy colors... as you can see there were many used... also many different kinds of techniques were used on the pages and tags...

Here's a semi open book...  it is too long to get all in one shot ...  but you get the idea... I love it.. try one... any size and start to fill it up... I have another one that is like an art journal that has some of my flatter style tags in it... my puffy ones have to go into a box...  LOL.. wish I could stay sort of uniform in my creations.. .NOT...

Well hope you are having a lovely day... and that you enjoy every minute of it...

Thanks for stopping by for a visit and see you tomorrow with some more challenges... Zen Tangling and also Simon Says Monday challenge...  fun and games for me... two in one day... what fun.

Today is Sunday over HERE!!!

On SUNDAY STAMPERS....   (it is still Sunday here... what day is it across the pond... Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday???  LOL)))))

Anyway... it is really Tuesday here... we just had a holiday... Memorial Day... and so I took the time to get a little caught up on things around the studio and the house... yikes it all really needed it...  and then off to go up the mountain to go shopping... what fun today is going to be... it is afternoon 12 noon now... but hey... we are free as two little birds... or maybe I should say butterflies...

The challenge this week is to ALTER something...  gee whiz... I alter everything I  touch Hels...  paper, rooms, birdcages, tags, bottles, candles... you name it.. .I can alter it...  LOL... so I decided to clean yesterday like I told you... and came across a couple of stray dominoes... and didn't really know where to put them.. .so I decided that they would be what I would alter... good enough...

Well I started off with actually covering the dominoes with Tim Holtz tissue tapes...  and then I put a covering of Gloss Accent over the entire domino... and I actually let that dry for over 24 hours.. Just because I generally try and push the time and it gets all lumpy etc... so I was very patient this time, and waited... ho hum... it was a long enough wait...  Then I actually made the inside paper piece while I was waiting...

But since we are looking at the covers... I will talk about them.. .LOL... I love DRAGONFLIES... and so one went on the top... and the little green bow... that was it... no more room... as I was going to have charms hanging out... as you can see...

I actually measured the paper and scored each piece accurately... that is a huge thing for me... as most of the time.. the folds... well lets say that a lot of times they leave a lot to be desired... LOL... they generally are not even... but this one...  EVEN as all get out..

I then just started to stamp using only Tim's stamps... as they were on my work table...  and then I used some Distress pads, pens and stains to color in the spaces that I desired....

I had colored the charms with my alcohol ink...  and then put the heart together... and then put them onto the paper... that way all I would have to do is adhere the dominoes when they DRIED!!!!  I was bound and determined to allow them to totally DRY.

Each section is entirely different... and the butterflies are having fun.. and the birds are flying...  the leaves are green and summer is upon us here in North Carolina...  FULL BLOWN...

Thanks Hels for the Challenge... and again I totally enjoyed myself...  learned how to patiently wait for things to dry.. and it worked out GREAT.. .

Hope you all will create something today that is pretty and reflects you and summer time...  thanks so very much for stopping by... and see you next Sunday... (On Sunday Stampers.. that is..)

Down the Rabbit Hole

I wanted to share with you something that I did prior to being on the Altered Alice Design Team... and it is my book called .... Down the Rabbit Hole...

I wanted to create a book with Alice Falling down the rabbit hole... with all the wonderful stories along her journey in Wonderland.. .

this is the Cover..  with the Rabbit and his watch...

Each page of course has a hole in it... and they get smaller and smaller as she travels down the Rabbit hole...

Each page has a little bit showing on the inner circle... and that you can see from the hole ....

So much fun...  A favorite of mine... so many hours of work on this one... but a treasure...
I love the simplicity of this page... not too often can I do a SIMPLE page in anything...  but I love this page.
Of course the Caterpillar is a main character in the story... right???  So he has to be in a good location in this book...

Each page is a little bit differently done, to capture the mood of the area...  I love using paper laces... so I added some here... along with hands and rabbits falling and falling down the hole...  more and more...

One of my favorite pages.. I love the background paper...  I made it with 5 different layers of paints, embossing powders, and coloring...

Of course Mr. Rabbit is a favorite with his watch... watching the time... something I hardly ever do... but I do admire his need to do that... ???  If you look closely, you can see the paper beads that match the background papers...  and the ribbon of course was dyed to match the background paper too.. .
Another Favorite of mine is a Hat bot... this box is large... it holds all my Alice projects...  with the exception of my Hat... that is huge...  it just wouldn't fit in here...

All around the box there are the main characters in Wonderland...  The mad hatter, the queen,

But my favorite is Alice inside this watch...  so much fun can be had doing the different things one can do with paper, and embellishments..

I love using the original Alice Prints... and can create so many wonderful hours of things with them.. .

Hope that you enjoy these projects...  I love sharing them with you...  that is for sure.

Have a great day... enjoy your Wonderland... and make it work for YOU... Love, Light and Peace...Bonnie

The Mad Hatters Hat....

Well... there is a surprise in the air today... and it is all about the Mad Hatter's Hat...

I had to create a Mad Hatters Hat...

So this one is now mine to use from month to month... and you will never know what is under it, until you look on the first Sunday of every month...

And then....
You will see a magical hat top flip it's top....

And show you something that is made to surprise you...

But there will always be a clue...

This one has to do with romance...  So on Sunday...  February 3.... come on back here and see what is under the hat!!!!

The Many Faces of Alice in Black and White

From a Fairy to a Child
LADY dear, if Fairies mayFor a moment lay asideCunning tricks and elfish play,'Tis at happy Christmas-tide.
We have heared the children say -Gentle children, whom we love -Long ago, on Christmas Day,Came a message from above.
Still, as Christmas-tide comes round,They remember it again -Echo still the joyful sound,'Peace on earth, good-will to men.'
Yet the hearts must child-like beWhere such heavenly guests abide.Unto children, in their glee,All the year is Christmas-tide.
Thus, forgetting tricks and playFor a moment, Lady dear,We would wish you, if we may,Merry Christmas, glad New Year.
--Lewis Carroll, Christmas, 1887.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from The Altered Alice! This month the design team brings you their holiday wishes, and we invite you to send your holiday greetings to The Altered Alice and to our other readers.

We do not have a sponsor this month, so we are just sharing for the joy of Christmas in Wonderland, and we hope that you will share too. We will have honorable mentions, so play along for the glory if not a prize!

To celebrate the season, we bring you The Lewis Carroll Memorial Window at Daniell Chapel in England. Notice the left panel where Lewis Carroll and Alice kneel to pay homage to the newly born Christ in this wonderful Nativity scene! This month's quote is actually contained within the windows, do you see it?

The window was designed by the stained glass artist Geoffrey Webb,  a must-see for anyone that loves Wonderland. The Christmas poem by Lewis Carroll is shown in the center three bottom panels, which include characters from Wonderland - the White Rabbit, Dodo, the Caterpillar, Mad Hatter, and more! Our own Sue Roddis visited this chapel and gave me permission to show her close-up photos here, click to enlarge:

Echo still the joyous sound, Peace on earth, Good will to men. Merry Christmas to one and all, with great love from The Altered Alice!

Merry Christmas to all of you from Wonderland...

This month is a free month that we can do and use anything that we desire... so I made an Alice book... one that I have been wanting to do for a LONG long time... (In Wonderland years... that is of course a flash of time...  like a minute in our world...but I still have wanted to do this for a long long long time... )

So here it is...

The Many Faces of Alice...  Actually when studying them... Alice always seems to be upset or frowning... but you have to look beyond that... and realize that she is being a very sincere little girl...
So because of that... I wanted the book to be of the original pictures... and so I also used a black and white theme of the colors I used...

The book is made from a childs board book...  and the last page was actually tall... but I had to make it a little bit larger... as I wanted Alice to be HUGE...

 The front of the book...
AS you can see, Alice is sitting reading a book...  with a little kitten...
And you can also see the last page... with Alice towering over everything...

I used a very old piece of lace on the front of the book...

I think I got the lace in a Lace swap I did about 6 years ago...

love it...

Then I had to add a few of the pictures with Alice and some Critters...
Some of the papers have a golden tone to them... but they are actually all black and white...

Adding ribbons, buttons and bows in black and white are just dimensional additions...
Love the Spoons and clocks that are in these papers...
And some of the papers are black with white prints...  so unique... love it...

And then finally the end of the book...

I love this little book... the smaller pages are only 3.5 x 3.5... and the tall one I made 3.5 x 8...  so much fun...

Hope you all have a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS... and a wonderful year in Wonderland...

Come on back in January... as we are starting off with a GREAT Sponsor...  love this one...
Can hardly wait to share it with you...

Love, Light and Peace... Bonnie
