Journaling

If you don't have a BLOG... you are missing out on so many things... one is to share with the world what you are creating... I wish I had a faster speed so that I could see more of what you all are doing out there... but I do see it at different challenges... and even though they are small little pictures, I do get the general idea...

Today Julie Balzer has an interview she recently did with me... and so I welcome you to my blog is you are connecting from her site... I WELCOME you all here..  I do so hope you enjoy your visit here...

I have always loved creating all kinds of things with my hands since I was a little girl...  started at a very early age, making mud pies !!!  I am sure you made them too...  LOL.. what fun we use to have creating all those different kinds too....my friends and I had a very creative bakery with jelly donuts, eclairs, glazed donuts, pies, cakes and even brownies with nuts... (rocks!!! you have to be creative what you have on hand right???  LOL)   We even let them dry over night, so that we could wrap them up in a leaf and string  (bark pulled apart)  and let others buy them...  oh what fun kids have...

We have lost a lot of that fun.. BUT if you are journaling in your life, you can gain that FREEDOM back every time you open your journal....  it allows you total freedom from everyday things... and lets your spirit soar...  totally free to create what ever it is you desire...  some gals have journals that are personally theirs and only theirs... while others have journals that are to share 100% with others...

One of my favorite things to do, is to create my whole journal...  I love to use my Twinkling H2o's in so many ways... but just to create pretty papers is a love too..

(.Especially when I am up in the middle of night full of energy and can't sleep... I will grab my h20's and a spritzer and create as many papers as I possibly can in a given time... or until I find myself asleep with a brush in hand and a little H20 paint pot stuck on my forehead...)

so what do you do with all these papers...

MAKE YOUR OWN JOURNALS.... Yeah!!!

What fun... so these are some pages that I finished off with some Zen Tangling on them..  I am fairly new to Zen Tangling... but am not new to doodling...  have been doing that for EVER ... in fact you can find some of my books I have published with my doodles on the right side of this blog... if you click on the books, it will take you to my publisher, where you can purchase them all... cook books and also doodle books...  My Cook Books are truly a form of journaling in so many ways... I love to cook... and each day when I made something new, I would collage that recipe onto paper and that is how my books started... there are two of them and they are each filled with 100's of recipes...  Art work, all kinds of things...
Journals are a way of life...  if you don't have one, think about starting one... it is a good way to show YOU who you are... and also to look back on these wondrous books as the years go by.

Matter is never without Spirit and Spirit is never without Matter.... by Rudolf Steiner... as very brilliant  man...  we even garden by his way of thinking... which is bio dynamically  and following the ways of the elders prior to us...  so when I see something that I want to remember I Journal it... bringing my personal life into my journals.

The circles of life...  each one is so very special...  and will represent something in your daily living...

The colors, and the movement of the circles are so very interesting to me...

Each one being a little bit different and unique... just as we all are too...

I wish I could post larger pictures for you to see the details in this...  so I will do a close up below... (I am on this thing called dial up... not by choice... but because that is all that is available to me now...  not fun... but a challenge in my life!!! )

Anyway... this was a very fun tangle for me... I am still learning all the different tangles, so I love to practice them...This paper was so very pretty that I really did enjoy working on this page...  a very relaxing time was had for the time I spent on this.
Each tangle has a name.. but I just enjoy doing them... that is the main thing....

Love making the chains to travel on  the page...

Oh yes... I have to let myself get a little wild now and then.. .LOL.... it is like washing your face...  make a mess... enjoy the flow of the paints, inks, sprays, just let it all happen on the paper...  I love some of these stencils.. and love over lapping them to get different effects... so that is what happened on the right page... the left page!!!  Well again I went a little nutsy with a leaf stamp that I made.. and then added a digital image from Pretties by Bonnie...

Well things have changed a little bit and here I am creating with all different kinds of things... Julie has just shown you this week all kinds of new and wonderful stencils that I personally can hardly wait to get my hands on to use and create with... As you can see, my journaling is something that I love dearly.  I try and do at least one page a day...

Above there are two of her stencils that I love... they leave a wonderful page... and these two pages are NOT finished yet... they might be sometime in the future... but for now I love to look at them... the colors on one page are so vibrant and then on the left so cool.. and relaxing...  You are the one that decides what is going to happen in this area...  just letting it go is the main thing...  playing with gusto...

************************************************

Dimension happens on my journal pages too... If I could figure out how, I would put all kinds of bulky things on my pages... but then I remember that I have to go to the next page...  and then the book becomes difficult to work in... so I try and it keep the pages a little flat... LOL... doesn't always happen...
To me.. putting down words allows me to reflect where I am (or was) on that particular day... I was enjoying just being me this day... and JUST BE HAPPY was my mantra for the day...  so another pretty flower from Pretties by Bonnie and my words...

A page doesn't have to have a lot going on to be finished... and besides no journal page is really ever finished...  I will add things onto pages that are over a few years old... no problem... it just needed that special little touch to be a little bit more fun...

***************************************************

I generally do two sides of each page in my book... waste not want not!!!  Type of thing... but that doesn't mean that every page is filled to the brim with art work... sometimes I actually like to leave it a little plain to just add a slight flair to the next page...  Also I felt like just STAMPING... so I did...  but then on the right side... a little wild again...  stencils, digital images cut out... tangling a little here and there...

Most likely I will add some kind of color to the leaf page.. but not now... I am enjoying it just the way it is NOW...

Here is the page all alone...

I love to use all different kinds of things on my pages too... inks, dabbers, markers, colored pencils, anything that strikes my fancy at that moment will work...

Don't forget that a lot of the backgrounds on these pages are papers that I have created just to have FUN... sometimes I add to that creation.. but sometimes they are actually left alone..

****************************************************

I love these leaves in this particular stencil that Julie has created... and I wanted to show case them...  so I just did them in GOLD metallic dabber...  how pretty is that... and then used a Black and white theme for create the tag, and leaves..

I wanted to create something elegant and simple...

******************************************************
Sometimes pages move along with  out being planned at all...
I wanted to try a method that I had seen somewhere, and so I blocked off the page with masking tape... I forgot to use my painters tape for this... and grabbed the first tape I came too...  Oh my goodness!!!  it was fun painting all the little areas and then when it dried I went to take off the tape and it tore a hole in the page!!!!  So I made the hole work for me... I put a face on the next page.. and allowed her to look thru it...
This was the page that she started out on... but then next level went to this... as it was a really great area to tangle on.. so it got the next layer of creating .... but that doesn't mean it is finished... I am sure it will get a few more layers onto it as soon as the inks dry...  LOL...
I think I will have to add some other things to this page... and will be right back...

A few hours later.... I had to play a little... make some paper, make some flowers, glue a little bit... and get away from the computer...  Breaks are necessary all day long...

Do you do any challenges at all with your journal pages... it is so very much fun to see what others have created and to share... I wish that I could leave comments at all the wonderful pages I have seen over the past years... but dial up is rather limiting to say the least...

Well I love to do challenges and here is one right now...
Art Journal Cafe... The gals over there are asking for us to use tissue paper on our pages... anyway that we choose to....

So I got out some good old white tissue paper and then got my dylusion sprays and made some really pretty papers to play with...  they are so much fun to decorate with.. as they have a really nice crispness to the paper and yet it does what ever you desire for it to do...

So I made a little ruffle and some flowers with leaves...

I had also added a braid with words on it... words of the moment... needed to be added to something and this was it...
So here is the ruffle... not real big... but a ruffle and a little trim over it with a 'bead' of tissue paper...
Then I took some of the turquoise, blue and purple tissue (all on one sheet... so very pretty...  )   and twisted it so that I could make some flowers.. used my green for the stems... and the leaves.

What dimension it adds to my page...
Love it.

***********************************
So with a journal page I guess you could say that mine EVOLVE greatly from day to day... when I want to do something to a page... I do it...  not a big deal... just do it.. and enjoy the entire process... at the end of a given year I love to look back at a journal that I no longer use and look at the differences I have created within myself... amazing... some good, and some just different.  I like them all... or I wouldn't be doing what I am doing.... LOL..

Hopefully you will check in for a visit from time to time... I love having you visit... and try to keep new things up everyday...  see you soon.. and thanks for stopping in today... Have  super creative and fun day that you totally enjoy ...

Love, Light and Peace...Bonnie

  4. I'm so pleased to have fund your blog via Julie's interview with you, which gave me a chance to see your beautiful art. I'll make sure to keep an eye on your posts from now on. And I deeply sympathize with your dial-up. I too wrestled with that for many years till finally we got broadband (albeit a slow one but still much better than the dial-up). It did get me down and very frustrated at times but it was the comments that kept me going, so thought I would now do the same on other people's blogs!

  5. Bonnie -I love your work! It's full of beautiful images and colors and I love that you do 3D elements as well. Texture is wonderful. I love the Dylusions sprays too - actually I love it all. Just started using my Twinks (which I have had forever!). Glad to find your lovely blog.
