Exotic Flowers and funny story

Oh my goodness… what do I do NOW????

Here I am in the Jungles for this foreign country… and I am not even sure really where I am… and I am looking for these really rare flowers… and I finally found some… they are really really really x 42,000 times RARE… and I have found hundreds of them… and low and behold there I was standing in front of this tree… which also was very rare… and there was a knot hole in it.. and I started to pick these rare flowers… and all of a sudden all these bats came flying out of the hole!!!!!

Oh My goodness … what do I do NOW!!!!!

So here I am standing in this jungle… in this foreign country… and I have a basket full of these really really really X 42,000 times rare flowers… and these bats start to fly out… getting tangled in my hair, and clothes… and all of a sudden.. I see this one little bat in the hole peeking out … and he starts to talk and says to me that he wants to go meet BAT MAN with me…. !!!! So I tell him sure… come on and hide under these flowers and I will take you to the party…

OH MY GOODNESS…. What do I do NOW!!!!

Here I am in this foreign country, with a basket full of really really really X 42,000 time rare flowers… with a funny bat that wants to go meet BATMAN… that talks like a human… and I see the customs men coming at me… and they want to know what I have in the basket… I tell them that I made them, and if they look at them, they will turn into bats… and I show them the little bat that is on the bottom of the basket… and tell them that this is the last person that looked at the flowers… so they take off running, I get on the plane… and I start to see the cave where we are having the party… and all of a sudden I realize that the bat has eaten all the flowers…

So Now… Oh My Goodness… what do I do..

Oh well.. I have a picture of the flowers… and this silly little one hanging out of the hole… but no flowers…

I did bring some bat cookies… for Batman and Robin… and also some tea cakes for the fuddy duddy ladies… and Oh I have some delicious rose hip tea… really nice… and for the rest of us.. some Melon Mango cookies… with some soft suede biscuits… yummmm they are so delicious… they are dipped into chocolate and then packaged in wood to protect them from low flying things… and I will use the wood as a platter to serve them on..

POST NOTE :

Oh Ardie… do you remember the day that we were taking care of Chip and he ended up hanging in the tree… Oh my goodness… what do we do now???

About 10 years ago… we were staying at this very special Equestrian Farm… 433 acres of beautiful mountain side… with great views and lovely energy… with the exception of some of the people that were there… anyway.. the woman that owned the ‘farm’ was allowing us to park our trailer there, and rest our horse at her farm in trade for a little help now and then… so one week she asked us if we would take care of her PAMPERED miniature Doberman… ??? He was so very pampered that she fed him three times a day… and it was always human foods and extra vitamins were given at each meal etc… totally pampered… he wore a coat most of the time during the winter months.. and the coat cost more than mine did… it even had pockets on his coat!!!! Also the owner was very very attached to this dog… she felt as if it was a child to her… she had a daughter… but this little one was really special… totally totally PAMPERED!!!! Do you get the total picture… ??? Well this poor little pup had never run free… he was always on a leash… and never allowed to really be a dog… so while we were taking care of him… we let him off the leash all the time.. and he was a good dog… he listened to my husband 99% of the time.. Well during this time we went up to the top of one of these beautiful mountains for a short ride… just something to do… other than looking for land or a place to live.. we took a nice picnic lunch.. and Chip… the dog… and off we went… we stopped on the top… and started to get out… and all of a sudden Chip ran out of the car… and ran over to the side of the side of the mountain … and FELL off…

Oh my Goodness what do we do NOW..????

Well… Glenn being the outdoors person that he is… went back to the truck and got a rope… and started to repel down the side of the mountain.. .and there was Chip… hanging upside down… on a tree limb… his coat had protected him… and that is what caught on the tree limb!!!! Glenn grabbed him… put his leash on him… and we went home… the heck with eating a picnic lunch!!!!

Oh My Goodness we knew what to do NOW… and that was to keep Chip on his leash…

The funniest part of this whole story… is that one of the gals that was the accountant there… who got stuck taking care of Chip during the work day… is a friend of ours… and one day she came over to our house.. and told us that she was now the owner of Chip… and I said to her… how come… and she said that the owner sold the farm.. and moved to NM and didn’t want to take the dog… so now she has Chip… and Chip is a barn dog on her farm!!!! What a silly thing for Chip to be.. from a pampered dog to a dog that is out side year round.. and living like a dog… Funny isn’t it… you just never know…

So this card will be going to Ardie… she deserves it… she totally understands the story… as we told her all about it the day we got back to the farm… so very funny… we still all get a huge laugh out of it…

Down by the Sea in Chalks

Oh Vicki asked me to do a card for the challenge called Speedy the Cat's Friends Challenge #2... so I created this card... You have to use a corner punch on the card... !!!! I dont' think that is a true challenge for me... because I love to use my punches.. a card is not a car unless it is punched somewhere on the card!!!!LOL...

On this card, I was able to use another image that was given to me... and I love it... so cute... might just use it for another project too.. Really love it..
I use the sandpipers and the shells from Impression Obsession... and the also the embossing folders from Cuddlebug... and of course the punches from Martha Stewart!!!! To color the entire card, I used chalks... Love the softness of the colors.. so pretty... One of the gals that is in our stamping group works for CraftT products... and this is one of their new color sets... called Down by the Sea... thus the name of my card...

Tea Bag Medallions

I love making Tea Bag Medallions...
I also Love designing the actual Tea Bags too... I have made literally millions and millions of them... and then I create the exact size of the tea bag I need for my project... it can be from 1 inch square to 6"square... but generally I use about a 1.5 inch square tile... and print them out, cut them all out and then FOLD each piece exactly the same way... and then turn it into a medallion... so the actual medallion can take me anywhere from an hour to a couple of hours to make from beginning to the end..

This one is one of the many wreaths that I love to make... the tile is one with pinks and greens... so since this just so happens to be a favorite color combination.. .I use it often... The green background paper I also made with a resist technique... and then used the Martha Punch to create the Hearts... and a Spellbinder to create the black lace... the paper where the wreath is put on... I also painted and made that paper with my H20's... what else..


This GOLDEN wreath was made with a little bit of a different fold... and then all fitted one into the next until it formed a wreath...
The rust paper was on my workshop table... as I had punch the bird out for another card!!! And so there it was... needing to be used... so I put a yellow border down the left side... and piece of ribbon over the center... added some pearls on the corners... and a bow on the wreath.. and it was done...



This card... Oh my goodness ... I love these Beeswax background stamps... this one is the daisy one... and I used a resist technique on this paper too.. .and then used my Ranger reinkers to color... a little Martha lace.. and then some K and Company paper... and a medallion to match... a little flower from Pretties from Bonnie collection... and a nice peach pearl.. .and it is another Birthday card... ready to go..

Another simple card... I used a sketch design 273 to create this card...
The background paper is uncut ta bag tiles... they match the tiles I used for the medallion... Then a piece of paper I made with Twinkling H 20's... (just a little note for those of you who have never seen this paper painted... the paper twinkles... there is mica in the paint... it is very delicate and elegant... ) Then a scalloped circle cut from a spellbinder.. with pearls all around the sides... I pleated some paper... and added pearls around the four corners... and put the Happy Birthday on the pleats... Very simple for me...

Blockprints

Have you ever made a block print???
I love to make them... and then when they are made, I can make a really bit mess printing them and getting paint all over me... YEAH!!!!

So here are a few of them used.. .I printed about 20 of them... and of course the block can be used millions of times... I used a nice pink sheet that was about 3 x 4 inches... and it is soft like a pink eraser that you use... very easy to cut into and sculpt... anyway... here they are..

This one I did with blue... and it was one of the first I did... (I have to tell you that once I start to print.. I don't wash the block at all.. I allow the colors to go into the next print... LOL... just me!)
Anyway... this one is the only pure 100% blue one that I have on this run... I used some Bazzill paper and a Martha corner and border punch and allowed this card to be CLEAN AND SIMPLE... so very difficult for me...

What do you think??? Yes... or does it need more...???

This next card... (the blogger is not going to let me write like I want to... sorry about that.) I used a sepia acrylic paint but there also was some metallic gold left on there.. so there is a mixture of colors... You most likely will not be able to see it...
I mounted on a piece of brown Bazzill and used a Martha Punch at the edge... then created the yellow background... ( with another Martha punch set... the daisy set) and mounted a piece of K and Company paper... along with a Grand lace template from Spellbinders... this is so very regal to me... I love this template... add a bow.. but needed to put Happy Birthday on this card???

So I save everything that I THINK I might be able to use... and I have saved a lot of 'packing plastic' from different things... and so I used a piece of that and stamped Happy Birthday onto it.. and then mounted with some zots... I think if you look closely you will be able to see the plastic piece... very handy and it was FREE and I recycled something that would have ended up in the land fill. Every little bit I can save from going into there is GREAT... so I really enjoy doing this...

Another Birthday card!!! Surprise!!! !
I love these colors together so this card went together so very fast that I almost forget how I made it.. LOL... not really but I hope you know what I mean...
I used a piece of K and Company paper... and then a piece of background paper that I made with H20's... and then mounted onto a label 10 and took my stamped piece and ran it thru another spellbinder label... I get all these label ones mixed up.. .they are all so lovely... but I to memorize them... just not my thing... sorry about that... I added a bow and the card was done!!!
The stamp is by Inkadinkadoo... love it...

Monday's Challenge

Today's Challenge was to make a FLIP FLOP card... one that you see a different front on... and then when you pull the sides, it flips open to show another side... I have taken two pictures so that you can see both front and the inside of the card... I really had fun making this one today... it came together fast, once I FINALLY decided on the paper... what a chore that was... it took me longer to decide which paper to use than it did to make the entire card... Oh well... it's Monday morning...

The paper is a K and Company paper... Hydrangea with a lot of browns and a pretty blue background... it is a two sided paper... and the back side is actually an entirely different blue... but it sort of blends with this blue... You really don't see the two blues up against each other... so it is okay... Anyway.. the Brown was alittle too much... so I made a border with a Martha Stewart corner and border set... Love this sweet eyelet set anyway... and I haven't used it in a few weeks... then I made the center with a labels 10... adn stamped the birthday wishes on it.. .the paper is another K and Company paper... then put my favorite little bird on it's nest popped over the words... what fun... ( This blogger isn't going to let me type where I want to... which is next to the inside picture...) So when you get down to the bottom of this blog... you will see the inside... where I have used a Inkadinkadoo stamp with three little birds... which are colored with watercolor pencils... and I added some gold filigree stickers around the corners... added a little bow and a few pearls... and called it finished... a sweet little card... Thanks Holly for the GREAT Challenge..Loved it.... Haven't made one of these cards in awhile... and I love making these... Great wake up call... and one more bithday card FINSHED!!!!!

Birthday cards GALORE!!!!

This month I have so many Birthday cards to make... that I have been looking for different ways to create... and also some new things to do... so I have finally hit my stash of prints that friends have sent to me... so you will see a few of those in this selection today.. .I hope that you will enjoy all that I have to upload.. this is the first of 10 cards... so wait until I finish... then you will see how I am almost done with all my BIRTHDAY cards for MAY... YEAH!!!! I have enjoyed making each and everyone of them though... and have tried to do each one differently..

The one on the left is for a friend that like me... LOVES horses...has a few and loves them more than the next.... so this is for her... I have five layers of paper.. but the light 'orange' one is also a glossy sheet of paper that the resist technique was used on... I used a Fred Mullet Stamp of a fern to resist... and then Ranger re-inkers... lovely and easy technique that is really quite elegant in a card all by its self.... then the three Nesties... and the Martha lace underneath it... Up the left side of the card, I add some tea bag folding... of which you will see more of that in another post today... as I have gotten back into putting some of these GREAT creations onto my cards... I have 100's of medallions that I would love to use... and millions of tea bags that I NEED to use too... so beware... you will be seeing them often now... The black pearls were added as accents... and I have to say that she is going to love this card...

Now this card is also a special card... the saying...
is os precious... Thanks Brenda... It says...
"There's a rip and a tear in my Teddy Bear and the LOVE pours our from him everywhere.." How precious is that??? I love it... Anyway... I used K and Company papers on this card.. and to tie in the paper with the rest of the card, I added some silk flowers... for the stop and also to just tie it all in...
I used my Twinkling H2O's to color this stamp and also accents were made with Liquid Pearls by Ranger.

I love this card... it is so very feminine and pretty...
That paper is really more pinks than anything... but the pink ribbon I had didn't look as nice as the peach... so it has a nice peach bow.. with pink flowers... the funny part is ... it all matches..

A lurking Friend

On Fridsay I had a friend over to play... Brenda... and I was working on my long list of birthday cards... (I have to make 26 for the month of May!!!) and she was working on some gifts for friends... she was making scrapbooks for two gals who had taken their children to Disney Land... Cute books... Created by Bo Bunny that spell out family... filled with Disney papers... great gift idea Brenda... I know that they will love these and enjoy putting their pictures into the books...

Anyway... Brenda was saying that she goes to my blog everyday... ??? And I said you never leave a comment... so we decided that she is a BLOG LURKER.... and just likes to come to see what I am up to... she knows that I get into things all the time... and she likes to keep track of me!!! LOL.. I do have fun... and enjoy it..


The card above... the lime, violet and magenta one... is done for one of these birthday cards for May... A sweetie going to a party... with a yummy present in hand with a balloon... Happy Birthday!!!!

I used some New K and Company papers, and lotos of white pearls.. I painted the little girl with my H20's... and made her walk off the Label!!!! I love doing and using that technique...

This card... the all white one... a nice day on the beach... all white on white... using the Martha Stewart beach punches... and then adding all the sand dollars and shells and also sea horse cut outs from Cuddlebug templates... a little lace... and it is done...

Birds and branches...

Todays challenge made be want to do birds and branches... so I did...

This card on the left... wow... one day when three friends came over to play... we took acrylic paints and put them onto paper with a brayer... and then used bubble wrap to put the white on... I loved this technique... and one of the gals... Beverly... she had these great Tim Holtz Stamps... so I used the bird and the elephant one.. great images Beverly...

Okay... so I had to pick up that lovely turquoise/aqua color... and did so with the border paper... which I also used a Martha punch on...
My Spellbinders never get too much of a rest... I used Label 10 on this card... and trimmed it out with a row on the top and bottom of Black pearls... I had so many extras of them... and wanted to balance out my collection.. LOL.. funny how we use more of one thing than another... but that is life. I love the big sheer black bow on this... I think I will have to make some more of these papers... Thanks April for showing me how to create that lovely look... I really love it.

Okay... for me to do a simple card is very difficult... for some reason I always feel that more is better... and then I have a really complicated card... this was so easy peasy... Stamped the lovely branch stamp... by Inka ...and then rounded the corners and mounted onto the bird and branch border paper... added the largest black pearls I have... and it was done... the elegance of the card also is that it was created in Bazzill paper... so it is a rich looking card when held in your hand...

Awake at night???

Have you ever had one of those nights where you can't sleep... the only thing I can honestly blame it on, is that I cleaned out tons of drawers in the studio yesterday.. and then I went on into the office and did the same... then into my hubbies papers and did the same... and I got rid of so much that I felt LIGHTER!!!! Like a ton lighter... LOL... anyway... I slept for about 3 hours... and then I had these cards roaming around in my head... so I got up and started to play...

This card was the first one that happened... and it is made from some paper that I made about two years ago... and of course I found when I was cleaning up.. I cut it into smaller pieces and then mounted onto a paper a little bit larger and then put onto the card...

My Friend Mary Taylor gave me these beautiful flowers a few weeks ago... and I had them in a very special place... and was waiting for the right card to be made that I needed something special to put on it... so here they are... I love them... Thanks again Mary... I added my own leaves and my favorite little bird on the nest.
Here is a close up of the flowers...
I added Liquid Pearls to the stamen... I love the effect... I colored the flowers with Markers...

The background paper is made on water color paper... with Twinkling H20's and a purple glittery resin of some kind.. since I made the paper two years ago, I am not really sure what it was that I used...

Memory is a good thing when you have it... when you don't it doesn't matter... you just can't remember anyway... so just enjoy!!!!


Vicki Dutcher asked us to make a Red, White and Blue card... and I combined it with the Challenge for F4A11 which was to use a gel pen... I made the dots all around the boxes on my card... I popped a butterfly for the focal point... and added a little box of butterflies created with a Martha Stewart punch set... I love it...















I also made this one with a medallion made from rectangle papers that were only 1" X 1.5 " big... it is more difficult the smaller the papers are... but I love the effect... put the medallion on a Spellbinder Pendant called Lattice... a few pearls and a little lace created by Martha Punches...

I had to make a Man's card for a friends husbands birthday... I really had a difficult time as I always do with masculine cards... but I do like the effects... I had made the elephant on the cardstock that I also made a while ago... and also found that when cleaning up... So many good things and I now sort of know where they are... LOL.. I will at least be able to find them...
The BG paper that the elephant is printed on is done with acrylic paints.. and then using bubble wrap to pring the white... I love the effect... Thanks April Williams for sharing this technique with me... I love it... And then Beverly Baxley let me borrow her Elephant stamp... he is WONDERFUL... thanks Bev... I love it... So with a little help from my friends... (wasn't that a song??? ) I was able to create this wonderful card...

More Technique cards

On Saturday I taught a class of gals some fun techniques... and we did have fun... and they learned a lot of fun things to do and ways to create with things.

This card on the left.. Magic Happens was created with reinkers by Ranger... a few drops on glossy paper... and magic happens...

Also the flowers around the edge... they were made with something that you most likely have thrown away... Do you have the little felt pads that you put on the Tim Holtz stamper with handle... either you have used alcoholic inks or reinkers and created a masterpiece... and then you thrown these little pieces of felt away... well... I knew that I would find a use for them somehow.. and here they are cut into little flowers... and also a leaf...

This card was mounted with a spellbinder frame... and also I used a Martha set to create the soft green bird with twigs...

The Ways to Use it Challenge today is to incorporate a pin into a card... so I created a little tag, and put it onto the card with the pin...
This card was created with some paper that I made by spritzing... I love to spritz... and always get a lot more spritzed than the paper... but that is what it is all about...
After spritzing about 15 sheets of paper... I then ran some thru the Big shot with some Cuddlebug folders... just randonly done... you really come out with some really fantastic papers... So this is one...
After they come out of the cuddlebug I then use a Distressing Ink Pad by Tim Holtz and add the additional color or colors..
Another felted flower has been added along with a couple of black small pearls for accents... and a little black bow...

I then made my frame with a labels template from Spellbinders... and then used the dotted swill cuddlebug template for the frame... a little Martha punching around the top.. and it was done...



This one was basically done the same... different colors and a few more pearls for accents around the frame...

The Pansy punches are so very sweet.. I love that set...

Hope that you will try some of these fun techniques to create some interesting back ground papers... they are so very different... and no two are alike at all..

P.S. We got an e-mail from our son, Brett who is Peru... and they got there safe and sound.. they are in Lima, and went to a vegan cafe that they had picked out prior to going to Peru.. and came across a wall mural there that was painted by a man from NJ that our son knew... the owner of the cafe told them all kinds of places to go and see... and also of a really neat Hostal to stay at... the owner of the cafe also had a biodynamic farm... and all the food in the cafe was from there... they really are having a fun time.. I have a funny story to tell you also...

You would really have to know our son to totally enjoy this ... but he is just so calm at times... that nothing seems to bother him.. He is very loving and kind.. but sometimes in another world entirely.... So here is the piece that I wrote to put in his book I am making on his trip...

On May 3, 2010 Brett and Casey were taking off for Peru… when they got to the airport, they called us to say good bye… Brett told us that he was tired… the friend that had taken them to the airport had stayed overnight and they sat up visiting etc… and now he was tired… “Oh I meant to tell you.. when we got to the airport… I had to go to the bathroom.. .so I went into the bathroom and headed for a stall.. and there were three women standing there, which I thought was a little funny… but went into the stall and did my thing… came out and looked at the women standing there and left the bathroom.. when I got out I thought that was funny that there were women in the men’s room… and looked to see that I had just visited the LADIES ROOM…” Only Brett could pull that off and not get into fuss over it… LOL.. Oh Brett .. what a fun way to start such a fantastic exploration… love it… Hope that you and Casey have a wonderful trip and time of your life..

Bulb in Red

This is today's sketch Challenge...
I love the way it is... at first it was a little unknown to me.. and didn't really know what to do with it... but when I moved it around I found that I could make it into a bulb holder...!!!! LOL

So this is what I did to create this card...

I had to use my spritzers… it was just something that I HAD to do… so I created all these papers and then followed the sketch… which, Roxie I LOVE it… great one again… you seem to do it everyweek… great after great sketch…

Anyway.. I spritzed all my papers… and then wanted them to all be of different textures etc… so I ran them thru different Cuddlebug folders… and then I layered them. I didn’t want the rectangle in the front.. so I cut it out in the shape of a heart.. and then added the red bulb… another must… I painted it with my Twinkling H2O's by Dreaming in Color paints… and then I glazed it with Diamond glaze.. only problem… is that it didn’t dry as quickly as I needed it too.. .I let it dry an hour… but was still a little runny… so that is why the bulb looks a little ‘milky’ … it has too much glaze on the bulb area from taking the picture of it… LOL… Oh well it is okay now… The glaze just makes the bulb and flower stand out so much more…

Using a Cuddlebug template, I cut out the words Kindred Spirit… and put them on… LOVE it… It will go to a very special friend… and she will love it…

Off to play... and make some more paper... more cards... and maybe work on my technique journal... a lot of fun every time I enter the studio...

Now Where is SHE????

Every Tuesday there are always so many GREAT challenges to join.. I love Teapot Tuesday... as Cindy (Mudder Mark) always creates some kind of crazy story... it is always a hoot plus... and the cards are always so very creatively done.... it is fantastic..

This week the general these is... Invisible or disappearing ... so with that in mind... I created this card for MMTPT92 ...

Here is my story...

I have been busy all day long taking care of all these babies that the female seahorse left me with... and now I need a break.. and she is now where to be found... !!!! Oh my goodness.. .What a twist to life this is... the seahorse has to be the smartest animal/critter on the face of this earth... leaving her hubby to take care of the babies... how wonderful is that...

Anyway... I had a lot of fun creating this also...
I am working on designs for the July Fat Book which the theme is Sand, Shells and seashore... so this was a fun thing to create.. and a possible for the finial pages.. I have to make quite a few.. so I want it be fairly 'easy' and not real complicated...

First off.. using spritzers with reinkers in it... I sprinted some papers... oh way more than I will use in a month... maybe 3-4 months... but they are so much fun to make... I used one for the background... and then took some Inkadinkadoo stamps and stamped the seaweeds... then using a puple and blue piece... I ran it thru the swirl cuddlebug folder... and created the water... cutting that into strips... just an illusion of water... Then I added some shells... and the seashorse... which were all cut from Cuddlebug dies... and then added some real sand from Daytona Beach that our son brought back to me a few months ago...

Speaking of which... he and his girl friend arrived in Peru last night... they are going to see all the fun things that the two of them have been wanting to see since they were little kids... Machu Pechu is top on the list... they have a backpack and 2 changes of clothes in the backpack and will be walking most of the two weeks they are there... I send them love and hope that they enjoy... I would love to be there with them... a trip we have always wanted to take too.....

Anyway... I just had to add that.. as I am very proud of him for doing this trip.. .

That is my Beach card... and now back to the drwaing board as they say... have to give this theme another try.. until I come up with one that really jumps out at me... Thanks for stopping by and visiting me... see you soon again I hope...

Using Spellbinders Labels

Okay... here's the scoup... These cards are for a couple of challenges... and I will tell you all about them as I go along... but the main idea for the layout of this card I got from Edna's blog... I just fell in love with the way she created this card... and so I cased it... I did change a lot of things but used the spellbinder as the focal point on each card..

This card.. .For Color Challenge Betty gave us three great colors... Lovely Lilac, Gable Green and Cameo Coral with the dessert being clear cardstock... (which I didn't have any of... in fact I didn't even have any cardstock that matched these colors... so I went to my ink pads... and that is what I used.)

So now what to do... and when I turned around.. there were my Tapestry stamps staring at me... screaming ... USE ME... NOW... so that is what I used.. perfect for these cards...

I cut some different Lables using my spellbinder... and then started to play... and as you will see I came with with two cards... and still have one of these left to use on another card.. I used one of the Asian Cuddlebug embossing folders for the background... and then using my tapesty stamps created a pretty floral design inside... added a little LILAC bird with some diamond dust on it's back..

A Card is finished!!!!! I also used it for CAS65... where the theme is May Flowers... CAS stands for Clean and Simple... which this one IS... I have a very difficult time doing CAS cards.. but I have done it... and enjoyed it too..








Now this one is for two other challenges... Also for the color challenge CC269 and for TLC271 Which was to create a card using embossed vellum... with any kind of embossing we desided... so I used again the Asian Cherry blossom folder... adn then added the ribbon and tiny flowers along with a pearl in the center of each one... Then when I put my spellbinder on the top... I loved it... but it was missing something... and so another LILAC bird on it's nest was born... and it was finished...

Down at the bottom you will see another piece of vellum.. and I added a border of vellume lace using a Martha Stewart punch...

This time I used the Tapestry stamps on the frame, vs inside... I like it both ways... and I did have fun with all these challenges... so thanks again to all the hostesses of these challenges for all the work they put into them..

Manly Mans card

OHHHhhhhhh I have such a hard time making masculine cards... and this month our stamp group is having a shoe box fun night... If you have never taken part in one ... you are missing a lot of fun...

Everyone (prior to the meeting) designs a card.. and then puts all the making's into a box... enough makings for 12 cards... THEN on the night of the meeting we all sit at a huge round table... with our 'shoe box' in front of us... and then pass it to the right.. .each person makes a card that you have designed... and at the end of the night you go home with quite a few new cards... generally we have about 15 gals there... so most of the time if you work fast you can get all 15 done... some gals work slower... which is fine too..

Of course we all are chatting... and the stories and fun spreads and we are all laughing and carrying on until we need to go home... and refuel until next month... All is great.. but the masculine theme... it is just not my thing... so I have pondered a design for over two weeks... and finally said that today I am going to do it... so I sat down and it ... and have it all ready for our stamping night... !!!!

The silver??? Well you know that men love chrome!!!! So I had to use some chrome.. and this is what else other than something that I 'stole' from my hubbies workshop... AC/heating tape... it goes great into the big shot to be embossed.. and it even has it's own sticky backing... wow what more could you ask for... so I added the female part to the card.. the hearts/and love and put a little bird perched on the top...

The sticker... BRAND NEW... sitting in my drawer waiting to be used... by Inkadinkadoo..and then some brown papers... had to add the line of birds at the top... just felt like they needed to be there... funny how until they were sitting there ... the card wasn't finished.. I really love it... Do you???? Do you think it is a Manly Man card??? I am going to take a bunch of stamps for the top and inside ... and let everyone use what they desire... either for Birthday or Father's day... the choice will be theirs...

Now onto the next project... ???

BEAUTIFUL ROSES!!!

Victoria brought me these BEAUTIFUL PEACE ROSES... they are so very beautiful and this picture just picture just doesn't do them justice at all... the RED ones... and multi reds and into yellows... and one is prettier than the other.. and the white one is so innocent... I had to show that one amongst all the beautiful red ones...

What a wonderful friend you are Victoria... I love these... They are on our table where we eat... and we will enjoy them GREATLY... .I will find something to do with the petals too.. so have no fear ... they will last forever.

For Mom with LOVE

I love making these kinds of cards.. and because Mother's day is coming up, I thought that it would be the perfect card for my Mom... She has Macular Degeneration and can't see too much at all.. So I had to make a card that she can feel... so the paper is all dotted swissed... and all the edges are done with Martha's Hearts... and all frilly like... she will love this one... and will most likely show it to all the ladies in the Assisted Living building she is living in... Happy Mother's Day to all the Mom's out there... Have a wonderful day...

Queen for the Day.... a casing

On the left is the card I made... the one below is the original that I cased... done by Carol of Pennsylvania...

I used different color purples, and also different stamp. I also used pearls and a shape to my black paper, vs. the square.. I think I used the same method of coloring... which is Karen Barbers favorite technique... BLACK MAGIC... I used copic white and then colored with colored pencils... I also used my spellbinders and Martha punches... and a cuddlebug for the button trim on the bottom...

Congrats Carol on being Queen for the Day... wear your crown proudly... and enjoy every minute of it...

Technique Class

It's a happy day when I can teach others what I know... I love to share ideas and how to's... so here are some of the samples that I made to share the resist techniques...

Each one is a little different and I have used different papers and of course some different stamps too.. .

I love this one.. it literally was the last card I did for the class... and it really happened in a magical way...

There was a piece of vellum on the work table.. and I punched some butterflies out... it just looked like something that would be pretty as a butterfly... and then I saw this piece of paper... and punched out the butterfly in that too.. as if the butterfly came from it... Magic Happens...

I used some reinkers, cardstock, and archival ink pads... I love them, as they always give you a nice crisp print.. I also used the butterfly template from Spellbinders... and Martha's butterfly corner and border punches...



Blooms... Another print using glossy paper this time, and also using Ranger re-inkers... I love them as the colors are so very versitile and pretty... I used lime and Aqua on this... and then a little tiny 1/16th of a drop of red pepper... a little goes a long way...









This is one that is did the Ghost Stamping techinique on.. and I love it... I tried when taking the pictures of these cards to get the different layers of ink... so as you can see here there are birds and butterflies stamped in the background and then the Inkadinkadoo tree in the for ground...

I used a couple of Spellbinders to cut out the papers and then mounted it...

A little ribbon that runs inside the card... Love to use it that way... adds a nice touch of ribbon on the inside too..








These colors look like they clash... but it is the light when I took these pictures... it was 4 in the afternoon in the studio and the sun was shining in... and not good for picture taking... it distorts the color on me...

Anyway... this was done with a kaleidocolor ink pad... Blue Breeze I think is the name.. .and then I added flowers around the edge.. adn then one large on the side...

A little of Martha Loop punching and it is finished..


Another Ghost stamping, but this time I embossed the butterfly onto the paper... then I cut it and counted onto a piece of paper that was border punched...

As you cah see there were three butterfly stamps used on this print...












This background started out as a light lavender ... and I can't really tell what it is now.. but I do like it... I added sepia and russet stampings on the side.. and then black lettering...

I made a layered paper flower and then also punched some from a Martha Stewart punch.. . a little bow... and Voila' done...




With Love... this was created with citrus, and aqua inks... and it looks like a like tan... but it wasn't suppose to be... anyway.. I added some sepia and russet flowers around the edges... and also a little red pepper on the print...

Used a Distressing pad on the edges... adn then mounted on a black punched mat...

I used a Fancy butterfly sticker ... I love those.. and can't always find them... but I have a place now to get them. .so I am one happy camper...

This card has a paper flower made from pages of a book... and then the daisy is stamped onto the paper..

By the Sea

After I made my card, I then went into the gallery to see the other cards and to leave comments… There were so many really pretty cards… and all kinds of different ways of creating this challenge… but I really loved the way that Peggy Elms had used the embossed paper background… just added a really nice touch… So I have cased her card here… with a little of my own stuff too..

I am teaching a class on Saturday showing how to do different types of techniques… so am playing with glossy papers, reinkers and all that… so my work space is covered with that… so I created these background papers, and layered them and put the embossed papers in between them… And then added the sea critters for a by the sea touch…

This is actually not a card, but a panel for a book… Thanks Peggy for the inspiration… love it…

White glossy paper, and also white cardstock, The Green is bazzill paper; I also used some die cuts from Provo and cuddlebug. Shell stamp is from Impression Obsession and the sand dollar is from Walmart foam squares that were 86 cents…

Plaids and prints...

Love this sketch challenge.. Four in the back and one in the front… love it… Thanks Roxie… great design to play with…

I chose to use some Purple prints to play with and then made a few with a resist technique… Then of course it needed something else… and that would be flowers… so I made some little white flowers with pink centers… added a tag and some pearls…

Easy as all get out.. and I love all the layers it creates…

Resist Papers

Okay... today's Challenges were really a lot of fun for me.. Number one... The Tea Pot Tuesday GANG had to do a card with Daisies... My favorite flower of all times... Due to the fact that Glenn and I had a daisy wedding, he always picks me tons of daisies all year long, and I just love the sweet little faces of these fun flowers...

Then the color challenge by Betty... she had us use some really pretty colors... Old Olive, Blue Ballet and also Banana... so they were perfect to combine the two challenges... and so I did...

The first card which is below...
I made quite a few backgrounds prior to being satisfied.. This Saturday I am also teaching a few friends some Techniques... so I wanted some examples... and wanted this card especially to be soft and caring... so I used a daisy stamp so that it would resist the cool peri reinker by Ranger... and then I added a few spellbinder templates... and a few stamped daisies... there were also cut out and another daisy put on the top of each one of the corner ones..
I added the pale yellow ribbon and the centers of the flowers for the banana color... My old olive is around the saying.. and we were allowed to add a red embellishment... so I added a tiny little button... just for that little red touch...

The other card... the one on the top, I used a another daisy stamp.. and then resisted a pale yellow reinker... love the look of that paper... so soft and pretty... used the blue and green for around that card... and also punched some daisies with a martha daisy punch... Made some paper flowers, and added a butterfly made with the spellbinder set... The little lady bug is a Stampin Up stamp... can't remember who gave that to me... but it was so cute... had to use it...

I used yellow liquid pearls for the centers of the paper daisies...

I had fun with these cards... and love the resist papers I was able to use to give that softer look...
