Tangling with color...

I have been cleaning out things... up loading things and just plain having a good ole time with my studio and house...  so when I saw this tangle.. .I had to try it...  love it... I don't know how else I will use it.. but it is fun to play with...

One of my items to do this week was to make Mary a Birthday card... and then yesterday when I looked at the Birthday book... her birthday was two days ago... but I am mailing this to her anyway... Happy BELATED Birthday Mary...  I still love you... and hope you had a wonderful day...  with a fun filled year coming up...  and a lot more time to play..

I wanted to keep on tangling... but decided to clean out more things... wow.. .I am starting to get so light in feeling...  feels good... need to get rid of more!!!

Anyway... I wanted to share this with you...
Do you ever make pretty papers and then think... what am I going to do with all these papers... well I have stacks of papers that I have painted and finally figured out to cut the 8.5 X 11 paper in half... and then bind them... and voila... a journal...

You can see my most recent finished journal here...  I put a lot of my zendalas in it... and also all kinds of other things... I love it... and wanted to share it with you...

I also wanted to share with you a way to make your own papers... I use a piece of water color paper and then wet the entire piece of paper... and then use my twinkling H20's and color the paper... when almost dry, I spray with some Perfect pearls and heat gun dry the paper...  then I start to have fun...

When I am all done tangling... I accent a few places with a colored pencil...  I use a lavender and a turquoise pencil on this one...  I just love the effect that I get... why not try this... see what you come up with...  I would love to hear from you how you liked this...

I was actually sitting and relaxing and waiting for the water to boil on the stove... I am canning some more okra...  I love this pickled okra in the winter time...  anyway... I started to doodle on another piece of paper and wanted to do a frame for a small picture that I love... but I got a little carried away... and the frame on the inside is not large enough... but I love this.. so I had to share it with ya'll....   I think ya'll know that I love .... LOVE flowers... so what else would I use...  flowers of all kinds...

Erin has changed around the Zendala Challenge to be on a Saturday... so I have a little more time to get things done during the week... good, bad or indifferent... I love doing this challenge... keeps my brain happy.. . and I do need that... that is for sure...

Anyway... Erin, no matter when... I love doing these... so keep them coming.. I had fun with this one today... and since I had copied four... I used three and give one to my neighbor Sande...  hoping that one day she will enter it in this challenge...  but here is what I did with my three...
So here is what they finally look like on the pages of my latest journal... please don't forget to scroll down and see my other journal with all my zendalas in it...  there is a link above too...

I feel that fall is going to be a little bit early this year... as the leaves are already starting to turn reds and oranges... so thus my colors for todays zendala...

 Closer yet... the left page...

I love FALL... so the hearts are a sign for me that fall is coming...  I love all the bright colors... crisp mornings, and chilly evenings... love getting under the quilt and watching a good movie... reading a good book.... have my face in a few right now...  getting ready for FALL....
The right side of the pages there is a little stamping of pen nibs...  school starts in September ... and I always use to love to get all my notebooks, pens and things ready for a long long school year... I was not a student until I reached college...  then I couldnt get enough...  funny how life is...

Fall colors to me... orange, dark greens, purples, browns, tans etc...  and of course yellows and reds...  I love the way the maples look in the mountains... they are like dayglo paints.... vivid and BRIGHT.... almost like they could shine in the dark...
 The heart zendala...

used Pressedwood around the edges... and then the rest I sort of made up... maybe they are tangles... not really sure...  just had fun with this one... and yes I did cut away part of the zen dala...
This one has the bittersweet vine all around the edges... love bittersweet plants... also love to make wreaths with it... and hang on every door in the house...  of course picking the berries up is another story...

I really had a lot of fun doing all these zendalas... but I think this one I was the freest of all.... love this one...  flowers, leave, mooka, chains, greek keys, and pods..  swirls had to have a say too...

love the colors of these pages and the zendalas certainly are happy here...

Thanks for stopping by for a visit... and hope that you have a great week-end...  Love, Light and Peace....Bonnie

  2. Wow! So much to take in! Adding color to the first two really makes them pop, especially the second one. Lovely card, too. And the frame is so pretty!!

I have used watercolor paper in a similar way--wetting it and using inks and/or watercolors and misters--then cut them up into bookmarks. I didn't doodle on them, though. I like your idea of making a journal out of them, too.

The zendalas you made are all really great and they're a great addition to your journal. I especially like the delicate middle one.

You do more art and doodling than anyone I know! Enjoy! Have fun!! :)

  6. Sooo glad I stopped here to visit. What a busy lady you are, and what fantastic results you get. Love that very last one the best. The colors are so rich and you followed the template, but it looks so FREE and loose at the same time.
