Eternal Time

Is there such a thing as Eternal Time??? Anyway... that is what I named this... as I have a small tag hanging on the hanger that says... ETERNAL....

Time is a funny thing... we never seem to have enough of it... but when we miss someone there is too much time in our lives...

This tag is for two Challenges...

Simon Says Stamp and Show......where we are to

use a HOUSE.... or make a house...

The other Challenge is for Grungy Monday... and Linda wants us to do something with someone that we remember...
My Dad passed onto the next life in March of 2000.... so I do hope that he is a happy soul now...

so this tag is all about my DAD... who was a very proud and proper gentleman.

He and his parents moved into this house when he was a little boy... he had two older siblings that were much older than he was...
But basically this is the home he grew up in...  He was a little spoiled to say the least... and did have a silver spoon in his mouth... as you can see his little sailors outfit... and every year they had a new car.... My grandfather insisted on it...  of course my Grandmother NEVER drove...  she was a proper lady... and ladies didn't drive...  Glad I didn't live in those days... I would have gone stark raving mad...
My Dad always had a fascination of cars... and watches...  time!!!
and he use to love to practice old English lettering with a fountain pen... and ink...  beautiful handwriting for a man.

The house was built specially for my Grandfather... he wanted a large house so that the family would all come and stay... they did too...  All of them...  The house is still standing today, except my Grandfathers flag pole has been removed.  He always put the flag up every day it was nice out...  not in the rain... or snowy days... this house was in Upper Montclair NJ... which was not that far from NYC... but in the country at that time...

The trains ran into the city every couple of hours... and yet my grandfather always drove his car into work.

Okay... so on this tag, I used my new Jalopy die cut... and also my new weathered time die...  I also used some ideology from Tim Holtz's line of goodies...   of course I dyed my own seam binding... and used my dad's favorite color... YELLOW...
The background was made by cutting a die using a piece of plastic from the container that the die came in... and then using my blending tool and a distress ink pad to create the clocks in the background... I used Vintage Photo and Black soot....  Then I cut one from card stock and again using distress inks, colored the weathered clock with Weathered wood and Gathered Twigs.. Love that .. hope that Ranger does make some inks to reink the pad... I love those falls colors... the Winter ones arrive here today... so I am looking forward to using them... beautiful colors too...

I used a piece of paper from Conservancy paper by 7 Gypsies... and then all the ideology was put into place.. with much meaning...

Thanks for stopping by for a visit... and hope that you have a wonderful fall day...  start working towards the holidays... they will be here before you know it... I am busy with presents.. and loving each and every minute of it too...

See you again soon... Love, Light and Peace....Bonnie

  8. Bonnie, both your art and your words are beautiful! What a great photo of your father as a little boy-- that sailor outfit is classic! The way you combined the elements here is wonderful-- the house, the jalopy, the symbols of time… everything is just perfect!

I'm honored that you shared these memories at Grungy Monday, and am, as always, humbled by your talent and spirit!
