Christmas and recycling

This is for a FEW challenges... but first off I have to tell you about the title of this blog...  This year we need to conserve our resources as much as possible... and need to give gifts with tons of meaning that are made by local people...  so give a hair cut or a trip the beauty parlor, or how about a cleaning lady for a day... wow... I could really use that gift... know some of you would love it too... These are truly meaning gifts... and after all Christmas is a holiday of LOVE... not of monetary gift giving...  so give a gift from the heart... or MAKE one...

Which brings me to the challenges .... I am making my grandson an Activity box for the year of 2012... and one of the pages is to tell about your Christmas... so these two items will be in that area of the activity box... When I am finished I hope to be able to share the whole box with you...  but each section has a ton of year long activities for him to do...  a beginning scrapbook/journaling experience at the age of 7... never too early to start... and he loves art and doing things... loves playing in my studio, that is for sure...

So here are some of the challenges...

Hels Sheridan at  Ink on My Fingers...  Christmas...
Simon Says Stamp and Show....   Recycle
Grungy Monday....  A Tim Holtz Technique...  Christmas...

So combining all of these ... I made these two items...

This one is really for the Grungy Monday Challenge... and the technique is one that I have used often... with the exception that I always use just a sheet of acetate or a left over piece of plastic from packaging...  LOL... my favorite thing... recycling...

So I now know that this product is available at Ranger... I will get some... as I love doing this...

The tag is really fun...  and I used the Santa theme for this one... as that will be theme for the Activity sheet too for the Christmas area...

I used Tim's stamps, and also used some Grunge board letters... and used the glossy accent for the covering of the letters... I also used the new Winter colors ink on the background...  love it... I think it is called Berry something.???? Not very good remembering names of colors or products... sorry about that...   anyway... it is the red pad in the set!!!  GREAT colors...

You will love them... GET them if you don't have them already...  The green is lovely and the blue is a cool wintery blue... a must have for a person that loves colors... really a fantastic blue...

Okay... now for the other two challenges..
Simon Says Stamp and Show wants recycling.... YEAH...
And Ink on My Fingers... CHRISTMAS

This is sort of a shaker box tag!!! Is there such a thing...??? Well there is now... as I RECYCLED a plastic sheet from the package of Key Holes Ideology by Tim Holtz ... it has six really cute shapes on it... and the Graphic 45 stamps really fit into it nicely... so they went into it...

I then added chunky glitter, that I don't really use for glitter anymore...as it is way to thick... but perfect for a shaker box application... and I added that to each section... then I used glossy accent all around each of the individual areas and then placed black card stock over the areas... and then a little bit larger sheet of red card stock... just to trim it out...

I put the entire sheet of plastic onto the background paper... also by Graphic 45... lovely paper... and the whole area in his Activity box will be mainly Graphic 45 paper...

At the top... I added one of the embellishing tags and also a few jingle bells...  and of course some red seam binding ribbon that I had added some Gold Twinkling H20's to...  I love combining things... and also love this tag... I do hope that Riley does too...

Hope YOU do too... please leave a comment... I would love to know what you think of it... it was fun to do... and so very easy... I also will be keeping some plastic out of the land fill... hope you try this one out... they are a lot of fun...

I love making things... and so right now I am spending a lot of time on Riley's activity box...  in fact I have spent over a week now... and will most likely spend the better part of this week too... it is really a fun project...

Thanks for stopping by for a visit...  and hope that you have a wonderful fall day...  and think about recycling something for Christmas and giving a gift of LOVE to all you give too...

Love, Light and Peace...Bonnie
