Sorry I missed the last two challenges, BUT... I really love to do the techniques one... sorry.. .but the others are fun, but just not in my life now... but I am back with gusto for this one...
Okay... it is the #11 Challenge... and it is called EFFECT POWDERS.. and I have them all... love them and use them all the time... so this is really not anything new for me... but I still love it...
I wanted to do a fall something... so I made a fall panel... it will go into a frame of some kind... (most likely one that I create) as it is an odd size... why do I do that??? OH WELL... leave it to me...
So here is my panel...
I created my pumpkin(which I drew) and the crow (which I used my TH die cut to create) using the #11 Effect Powder technique...
I then started to play with WHAT TO DO WITH THESE two things ...
I knew they were going to be on what ever I made.. but what to do?????
I first off... made some paper for the background... one of FAVORITE things to do...
I used all fall colors and used my work sheet and Distress ink pads to smear the ink onto and then add some water... oh what fun... love it... have to make a few sheets... just in case... I don't know what in case is for... just had to make them...
Then I made this long stem from a piece of card stock that I inked, and then twisted into the stem... Drew some leaves... and colored them, using the TH Watercolor method... I love that... so very perfect for me... easy and I love the results... the leaves look a little light here... but in real life... they are perfect for me...
Added some currly cues... and a bow... a few fall leaves and it was done...
I FORGOT to tell you about the stenciling that I did after I created the background...
I won a wonderful gift over at Simon Says... and went wild with stencils... I bought two stencils, that I didn't KNOW at that time that they were 'related' as you use one and then the other one on top... like silk screening... love it... that is how I got the layered look on the stenciling... wow... and it by chance that I bought the two of them...
My CROW is regal... he wears a crown today... hopefully he will be able to keep it on... our crows have been leaving the gardens alone... we do have tape flying and all kinds of other deterrents, but generally that never bothers them... they are being so kind and gracious. so they have a crown today...
I also won a challenge over at The Kraft Journal... and one of the many things that I received were some vintage dictionary pages... and low and behold... one was for the word CROW... can you believe that one... and that package just arrived while I was creating this... so I had to share that with you.. .so many neat things happen anymore... I love to share them..
Maybe you can see the crow words better here???
I love bittersweet and use to make a bittersweet wreath every year when we lived up north... I have not found it down here in NC... but I will...
My pumpkin was made with three different colors...
I wanted to tell you what I used... but I guess it will have to wait... until you buy the book..
I have the pumpkin sitting on some birch bark... real birch bark that is... and also some leaves, and other assorted things...
You have to have some raffia on there... and also some more currly cues... right??
My Grunge board is very old... I bought a package of assorted textured a long time ago... and still have some of it... sued the striped one today for my pumpkin...
I hope you have enjoyed this panel... I had a lot of fun creating this one... and I have to tell you that my studio is even clean after creating this... it is shocking... but it is... I just had fun and created and things went back where they were suppose to.. LOL... anyway.. thanks for stopping by for a visit...
I really appreciate all the comments that I have been receiving and really cherish them all... Thank you in advance if and when you leave one...
Have a GREAT day... enjoy your evening and day...
Love, Light and Peace..Bonnie
Bonnie, I'm SO glad you're back and kicking off CC3C #11 with this fabulous panel. Love the mix of color on your pumpkin and how you got your "crow" definition as you were working on this piece. You are just in the flow, aren't you?? Brilliant!
ReplyDeleteYou are a fast one!!! I love that you made your own pumpkin and the vine and leaves are fabulous! Gorgeous Fall scene using the Effect Powders! Thank you so much for playing along with us...and so quickly...at CC3Challenge!!!
ReplyDeleteLove your enthusiasm Bonnie. I just got home after the Scrapbook EXPO in Somerset that I was working for SNS. I thought I'd wind down after a fast and fun few days by looking at a few blogs before bed, but now I feel like going upstairs to create - you've inspired me so much! It's a gorgeous panel with the colors and materials you used.
ReplyDeleteBonnie, love your panel, especially your regal crow. If you are ever in Hendersonville, NC, visit the Curb Market on Church Street and you may find your bittersweet wreaths. Check the hours though, they are limited ;)
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful autumnal make! Great fall colours, love your hand drawn pumpkin and the crowned crow looks fantastic too. The twine gives it that wonderful home spun feel, love this piece!
ReplyDeleteHi Bonnie, sorry I haven't visited for a while. This is wonderful, love the colours and all the textures and embellishing. Nikki xx

Beautiful work Bonnie! Never had a chance to collect the powders, now I think most are discontinued. Too bad if you ask me. Your tag is so vibrant and I love your pumpkin and crow! Just stunning! hugs :)
ReplyDeleteHi Bonnie,
ReplyDeleteDidn't have time to read through your entire post, but HAD to have a peek at the photos--good golly, miss molly! This is some fabulous work/play! I love the colors you chose and that crow! How cool! Will be coming back when I have a few more minutes to really enjoy your post. Oh, and I can't wait to visit your farm via the blog; would rather it be in person :)Sara Emily
Hi Bonnie...so glad you're back and what a lovely way to bring in the fall season...this tag is just gorgeous! I too love these effect powders! Fabulous fun!!! Beautiful fall colors!!! Thanks so much for sharing with us at CC3Challenge!
ReplyDeleteBonnie...thanks so much for the great compliment you left on my blog. Yes, I had a blast with this challenge! I can see that YOU did, too! Your fall panel is awesome. I love your pumpkin that you completely created. Tim's crow is also very cool on this. The black amongst all of the gorgeous fall colors looks good. I love the texture you've achieved from the Effect Powders technique. Love the vines and the flowers, too. Your art is always so much fun and so imaginative. Thanks for sharing with all of us at CC3C. <3 Candy
ReplyDeleteCor Bonnie your creation looks so fresh and zingy.... love Mr Crow too... Thanks for playing along with the CC3 Challenge and hope to see you again soon x
ReplyDeleteI finally got to actually sit down and read about your tag, and that is a real treat, too! I love bittersweet, too, and love to put into a fall wreath. My sister sends me some from her farm in Missouri. I also love the use of the birch bark--it is so fitting here! My kids laugh when I pick up pieces from our tree to add to my stash, but it is so useful. I have fond memories of our birch woods on our farm in NJ every time I use it on a project. Delighted to see it on your artwork! Sorry to bombard you with another comment, but I just was tickled to get to actually read you post now, and had to let you know that your writing is such an integral part of your artwork.
ReplyDeleteI am in LOVE with this panel!! (Is it possible to experience love at first sight with a paper creation??) I adore the layers and I am always so happy to see your own drawings incorporated! I really like how you've combined classy sophisticated nature images with that fantastically whimsical crow. You must tell me where the crown die is from-- it looks perfect for your crow! And just as enjoyable as your art are your write-up's. You weave your life events into your art projects so that we get to know you as a person as well as an artist. Your blog exudes your bright happy warmth and it always is a pleasure to stop in.
ReplyDeleteIt's lovely and all these autumn colours are gorgeous . Love the crow and how amazing that the crow text came just in time too. Congrats on your win too :-) x
ReplyDeleteWhat a vividly bright fall panel Bonnie! love that crow!
ReplyDeleteYour 3D panel is fab, Bonnie! Love the crowned crow. Thanks for joining us at CC3C!
