My pen is on the road again...

This week on the I am a DIVA challenge, Laura has the following challenge for all to create.... I have to add that I really wanted to do something a little more flowing.. but I did try and get this to move to my best ability...

Weekly Challenge #167: DuoTangle Well/PunzelWell, today is May 12.  A Monday! A challenge day.
So today's challenge is a duotangle challenge because i love them.

A Duotangle is a term, originated on this blog, that refers to a tile or zentangle inspired piece using ONLY TWO TANGLES.

This particular challenge is to use ONLY the two tangles Well and Punzel.  (follow the links for the step-outs)

I really had a hard time with Well prior... and really never got into this tangle... but today I practiced and got the hang of it...  for those of you who don't know what a tangle is...  it is a design that is repeated over and over to create ART...  so many people think it is doodling... and it is not... it is an ART all unto it's self in all ways...

Okay...  if you need more info go to I am a DIVA and there are all kinds of links etc.. and connect with Maria and Rick as they are the Queen and King of Tangling...  they created it... and have really made it move into the famous art that it is today...

Look on Pinterest too...  you will be surprised at how many tangles you will see... yikes... tons and tons...

So now for my pieces for this weeks challenge..

This is my first attempt at this challenge... and I really didn't like  the way it came out at all...  so I grabbed another piece of paper and started to tangle again...  but on this one I did try and add shading and other dimensions of the tangles with pencil, after I had gotten the inked part down...  still not satisfied at all...  I like it... but not my favorite at all.

Okay... this one moved me... I did the Punzel  (chain up the center of the tangle)  and then I drew some circles and added the well tangle...  I had to add a little excitement to it... and enlarged a few of the areas, and also had them go thru areas too... have to add some excitement somehow... right???

I was tangling the other day and had fun with this double loop string....  I shaded it and then saw on Pinterest so many tangles that were colored and decided to erase all the shading... and color in this tangle...

It really looks different... not really sure which way I like it the best...  so help me out here... tell me which way you like it... thanks in advance...  I didnt' color the mooka... just couldn't...  I love the nature of them as is... really great tangles...

Okay.. that is it for this challenge..
have a few more to do... and must get on with also prepping for a class or two this week...  If you live local to me and would like to take a class....  let me know...  I have all kinds of classes running all the time...  right now I am also taking sign ups for a fall class in how to make a KUDZU BASKET... fun and games plus...  this will be held on September 20... it is an all day class... and you will go home with at least one basket...

Thanks for stopping in for a visit... and hope you will stop back again real soon...
Have a great day... and create something wonderful and share it with others...

  2. Bonnie, I like them all. Your punzel/well layouts look great. And I have to agree I don't know what I like better, the BW or the colored one. They both look so different, as if it is a totaly different drawing. I like both. The BW because of the Zen it is spreading, and the colored one because of the warmth it is spreading.

    1. Oh thank YOU so very much... I feel about the same... just trying to decide if I should do more in color... but the Zen is so what I love... I sell some of my pieces and use black mats, as they bring the work out so very much... love the tranquility of the BW ones... Thanks again.. You opinion means a lot to me... 6. I love them all but I am really taken by the second one. I love how crisp and clear it is. There is so much, with so little.
The colour is fun too, always nice to try a piece both ways.

  14. I have to go with the consensus that these are great. I like the simplicity of the first one and the the flow of the second. The double loop ZIA is great. The color is nice but I find the shading in the B/W one makes that one stunning.

    1. Thank You Donald so very much.. I did have fun no matter what... and agree with you... the traditional tangling is so stunning and the color sort of takes away from that elegance. thanks your input.

  18. I like your first tile the best, the punzel is modest . It breaks up the Wells, but not in a jarring way.

Colour vs black and white, that's a tough one, they are both lovely, but I am going with the B&W only because I think the Mooka stand out too much not being coloured in the other one.

  20. I like the second tile the best. I guess I like the movement in it a little more than the static effect of the first one. And as for color versus black and white, I think I like the black and white better. There's a little too much color.

  21. Thanks Audrie for all your words... I also love doing the black and white... so very traditionally ZEN .... thanks again.. Love, Light and Peace...Bonnie
