Ribbon Braiding

Last year on SCS one of the gals had shown how to braid ribbon on a tiny little bird house... it was so very precious.. and I kept the directions... that I would do this as soon as the holidays were over... That was over a year ago...

Well a lot of projects have gone on and I went to a scrapbook week-end this year... and one of my friends... Marie by name... had made a really pretty card with the BRAID!!!!  So I dug out the directions... read them ... and then tossed them aside... way to difficult to start to do at midnight!!!!  Yikes... so the next morning I read them again...picked up some narrow ribbon and started to make briads...

My only problem... I didn't think I had enough narrow ribbon!!!

Well I have enough to play with for the time being... and will go to the store the next time we are out...

WE have had a lot of snow... which for up north is a joke, but in the south the town's don't have snow plows... so we have to wait until the state gets around to plowing us out...

Here is a close up of the first braid I made... I love making these preety braids.. they really make a statement on a card...

Of course I also used a flower from  PRETTIES BY BONNIE,
Three layers of a flower all different sizes to make this look like a 'real' flower.....
and I used my markers to color it... along with a gold gel pen for glimmer...  I used a dew drop for the center of the flower...

Okay.... I had a lot of fun doing this...

Here is the front of the entire card...

I used the Fiskar corner border punch around the edge of the card...

and

Then I used one of the newer Embossing Plus folders by Cuttlebug for the next layer...

To Truly LOVE someone we must LAUGH with them... a lovely saying on the stamp I used which is by Just Rite...

I love the way this card came together... hope that you enjoy seeing it... and it motivates you to start to create some Valentine cards... you know that you don't have to use the typical REDS for the card... use colors that tell of love to you...

I happen to love pink and green, and so that is why I made this card with those colors first...
I also used a piece of K & Company paper to make the envelope...

Yes this is a card, but I also feel that it is a gift as well.. Who will end up receiving this card???

Hope the weather stays nice now for a while... I would really like to get out and get some more ribbon.. I did find a FEW spools of the narrow ribbon.. and I love making these braids...  Hope you ahve a wonderful day... and that you will get started on your Valentine cards... Love, Light and Peace...Bonnie

  4. Beautiful. Love the border punch and your flower. I tried ribbon braiding last year and really enjoyed it, but it does take a lot of ribbon.
