December 10, 2009

Today has been a special day for me... it is my 65th birthday... which doesn't happen too often... but once a year we all gain a little more intelligence and another year smarter!!! Or so they say... I also feel it is a special day, as I am creating my first blog... I have had many web sites... but this is my first blog... so I will see how this goes...

I have been having a lot of fun on SplitCoastStampers.com with all the challenges, and ideas flipping in and out of my brain... Trying to figure out what type of card for this challenge, and which technique to use etc... so this has been fun for me... I also have more than enough Christmas cards to give to all our friends...and with a start on next years supply already... Even though I have had to make some special ones, I still have a nice supply...

Today's challenge on SCS was to think of a Christmas carol and then sing it... (wrong... no one would like to hear me sing... but anyway that is another story... ) and then allow that song to inspire you to create a card... well that was the easy part... which to choose was the hard part...

Do I do Jingle Bell, or Jingle Bell Rock, or maybe Frosty the snowman, or maybe Here Comes Santa.... ??? Well I choose Jingle Bell... and might do another card later... but wanted to try to build a Blog site.. so this is what I am doing...

Here is the card I made for the Challenge... The way I created it is very simple... I chose my card paper, which happens to be a rich dark Hunter Green... and I folded it in half. I then chose the spellbinder that I wanted the card to represent... and then when laying the paper onto the die, I didn't quite cover the die with the paper... I allowed a section to show ( of the die) and that way it was NOT cut... (I used the curved rectangle die) that allowed the paper to create a 'card' .... Then I choose two more colors of paper and cut the same dies... smaller and smaller yet... Then I stamped and painted the bell and cut that with the circle Spellbinder... then the scalloped circle a little bit larger and in red... Layer them and the putting a pop dot to allow that to rise up above the back ground a little bit... I also used a white gel pen to make the dots around the red scalloped circle... just to give a little pizazz. Then using a thing dotted Swiss ribbon, created a bow... Simple and fun to make.. small enough for a tag, or large enough for a card... you choice...

Well maybe this is easier than I thought... although I would like to have some bells and whistles on this ... maybe by tomorrow??? A slide show, a few cards flashing to show some other things I have created this week??? Time will tell.

Thanks so much for visiting my Blog... hope that you enjoyed it and will return again and again...
Love, Light and Peace... Bonnie
