Journalling on an ATB

Today I was suppose to do other things... but I took the day off... and I did what I WANTED to do..... and that was to make another Artist Trading Block... better know as an ATB...  Love these things... and Anne (Redanne)  you are so very right.. they are habit forming and ADDICTIVE..... very addictive...  so before you make one... know that they are addictive... I love the ones I have made though... and really enjoy them...

My other one is here... Dream a Little Dream    and it really was a very fun project also... so many people have written and asked how long it took me to create this Dream A Little Dream... and it took me about three days... but not full days...  about 10 hours of hard labor... LOL.. a LABOR of LOVE... love of art and paper ....

Okay... so today I wanted to create another type of ATB... one that I could do quick journaling into... so my block is going to hold 3.75 x 3.75 cardstock to journal on it... a quick little thought for the day... when I have a need, I will grab a regular journal for technique, etc... but these will be little journaling papers... how neat is that going to be???

So if it is going to be for JOURNALING... it had better have journal pages on the outside too... right????

Side one...
Don't Let ANYONE ever Dull your SPARKLE!!!
with a little bird on a branch and stars added with texture paste...  I used water color pencils on this box... 100%...  and the edges were done in Distress inks...

a little bit closer

Side Two

Living in my own little World...

A little butterfly really does live in their own world.. and at times I do too.. .like today... I played and did my own thing... all day long...  loved it...

A little closer

Side three
This time of year... I love pods of all kinds... and these just had to get onto this box...

LIFE is a school
where you learn to REMEMBER
what your soul already KNOWS...

WOW... so very true...
on each one of these 4x4 journaling pages...
I drew,
put a saying...
stamped,
and also used texture paste...
and I colored the texture paste too...
what fun is all that... OMG... love it all...

a little closer

Side four...
Faces...
The faces we wear when
we create,
journal,
dream,
grow,
and imagine...

LIVE IN LOVE

A little closer

Side five the top...
Just Love...
Why try so hard to fit in
when you are born to
STAND OUT....
AWESOME!!!

WOW... we all need to do that a lot more...
LOVE it all..

A little closer

I just wanted to say, prior to showing you the next box... that I can see myself really getting absorbed into making these boxes for all kinds of reasons and needs... they are fun and I love making them...  I love this journal one... and have it filled with papers for journaling near the phone, and also will have some extra papers at places I find myself sitting and drawing...
I love to doodle and also do Zentangling... but love to put my thoughts down with it all too... so very important ... shows where I am on this EARTH WALK...

This next box... I love GRAPHIC 45 papers... so very pretty, bright colors... great themes. etc etc... you know all the reasons if you like them...

So I had the pad French Country... and it was yelling to be used... so I did... but I wanted this box to be interactive...
So I made each side panel lift up...

The top of the box... French Country...

Side one... Rooster... had to use this... we have over 100 chickens... and some of them need to go into the freezer NOW...as they start to crow at 3:AM... not a fun thing...

Lifting up the panel... you see this..

Pears on the TREE...
We have all kinds of fruit trees... plum, pear, apple, peach, blueberries, persimmon, and a few others... that I can't remember right now...

Lift up the panel...

FLOWERS....  WE dont' have as many flowers as we would like... but we do grow a lot of sunflowers and assorted others...  Jerusalem artichokes and others... we do have a BUTTERFLY GARDEN... and that has a lot of wild flowers and also some that we have introduced here as well..

next year we are going to be adding an herb garden.. .so we will have a lot more flowers...

Under the panel..

Sunflowers...

under the panel

So this is my third ATB.... and it is not going to stop here... I can feel a lot of these coming on...  just need to plan them out... and also find a place to create a new wall.. LOL..

Thanks so very much for stopping by today... and hope that you have a lovely happy creative day yourself...
Thanks also for all the lovely comments you have been leaving here... I love them all and read them all.....

I also had some really nice feelings today, as I won a challenge for my altered bottles... the challenge was with Craft Hoarders Anonymous...  and here is my blog page..

this is one of the bottles...

and there are three others...  so please take a look and see them... I really love to alter things... Rice vinegar came in these bottles... and the little jars, were other foods...

Thank You again Craft Hoarders Anonymous Design Team...  I have fun on your challenges and my studio is starting to really look so much better...  thanks a million for helping..

Now I am putting these two boxes also into the CHALLENGE THAT GOT ME ADDICTED ....
Why not join in on the fun... these boxes are so very much fun to make...  love them...  try to make a few... you will find that you are addicted to them too.. .LOL..

Thanks for reading this long entry... but I am a wordy person...

Vintage Travel with Frilly and Funkie

Well I had to create some more things... and also wanted to show you the little book I had created for the little blue suitcase...  so I have to show you these two things...

This week on Frilly and Funkie Challenge... it is VINTAGE TRAVEL... so I again had a lot of fun doing more things...

This is a tiny little book... only 2 X 2.5 inches... and I used a sizzix die cut for the little folders... tiny little book... and I had so very much fun making it...

the cover is paper I made using my distress inks and water... love doing that... then I used some texture paste to make the seahorse...
Oh the stencil for that... EVERY die cut you own is a stencil maker... so I used a Cuttlebug die of this seahorse... how cute is that...
added some pearls for bubbles and LOVE IT..

I really dont' like to throw too much away... and these were 1/2 inch and smaller  pieces of paper and I wove them to create the inside of this little book... and another texture paste seahorse on the inside...  with more pearls...

All the paper on the inside were from a Graphic 45 pad on Sea... can't remember the name ... but I am sure if you are into Graphic 45 you know the name...  (sometimes I can't remember the names of things to save my life... and I am quite far from my studio right now... so sorry)

I made little pickets to put some pictures of your vacation into... and also some cute little tags to adorn them too..

I used Faded jean Distress ink on all the folders.. and some of the papers as you can see here I also made with distress inks and water.

Adding things like sand dollars, special netting tapes..

some star fish... and more fancy papers... and those little children are so very precious... had to add them...

In between all these pages are graphic 45 paper that you can add two or more pictures to... so this little book will hold a lot and still fit into that little suitcase... the smallest one of all of them...

A little pocket and also lots of space for writing and journaling...  all about the trip and traveling...

Now I also did a few ATC's for you to see...
This first one is a picture of my Mom... when she was 3... she just passed away this February... and she was 94... so she lived a very long happy life...  so this picture is a little vintage... at least I would call it vintage... check out that car...

Another vintage family picture... of my grandmother a year after she graduated from college... she and a few of her friends went to Europe for a summer vacation... wow... nice huh???

She is the one in the back... she might look tall... but I bet she was standing on a trunk... LOL...  the little tag says...

I never seen such wild wimin... in my life...

I don't know where I got that... but I had to use it... that was a wild trip back then for three women to take ALONE!!!!

It was in the late 1800's... VINTAGE...

Just some old clip art but fun...

Another old clip art on a piece of an old map...

So I did have more fun with this theme... hope you will join in on this challenge and make something really wild too...

There are some really nice entries... please check them out...

Thanks for stopping by for a visit... and see you soon... I have been working on some special pieces that are not finished yet... hoping to have them done soon.. .

Vintage Suitcases

A few weeks ago, I was chosen by Frilly and Funkie to be a Guest Designer.  What a wonderful honor to be chosen and to do a special project for you all to see.. I so hope that you totally enjoy all I have to share with you... Please go over to see my other pictures and write up over at Frilly and Funkie Site.  And stop by this GREAT store too while you are there... lots of goodies...

When I was asked to do this project the theme given to me was VINTAGE TRAVEL.... so I instantly thought of my suitcases... I love making them... and have taught this class often.  Each person always adds so very much of themselves to their suitcase... making it uniquely theirs..  What fun is that!!!

So here are a few that I have made...

This is the one I made for today...

On this suitcase, I decided that I wanted a dual look... as when I did research on Vintage suitcases, I was shocked to see so very many different types and I wanted to make them all...  Oh how many can one person have???  So I thought it thru and came up with this one...  now for the papers...  Well Tim Holtz was the first place to stop...  and low and behold... look at this piece of paper... perfect for the vintage suitcase!!!

Of course I had to add some WORDS...  so my Remnant Rubs worked out perfectly for this application...  even on the tag...
And the corners... perfect Ideology for any vintage traveler's suitcase.

Since this suitcase is more masculine, I had to add some tools to this man's travel... I know my hubby always has to travel with his favorite tools... just in case he might need to fix something along the journey...  This suitcase again is for a world wide traveler... with maps of the world on the inside...  Again some of Tim's Papers....

Now this is the back of the suitcase... during those years people were given decals to put on their suitcases and this was even popular when I was in college...  maybe it still today... not really sure, as I don't travel like that anymore...  have a farm is enough of a daily JOURNEY for me...

Anyway... this is a very well used and traveled suitcase... and again it is a Tim paper...  and the word JOURNEY... it is again a Remnant Rub...  Using a tape measure for a strap around the suitcase and also the corners for the suitcase were all trimmings from Tim Holtz again...  love that ideology...

Okay...  so if you know me at all.. .you know that I am very prolific... and have to have choices and all kinds of pretty and fun things around me... so I had to also do a feminine suitcase too...

This is the top of the suitcase and I used seam binding that I dyed to match this paper etc... and braided it to create the handles of this suitcase.  Sheet music was used for the corners of the suitcase.

I used a piece of Tim's paper for the body of the suitcase... but started to embellish with flowers and things from Graphic 45's pad called Diary of a Woman.

I used tissue tape from Tim... as it was so perfect to give the look of straps on the suitcase..  and another flower.

More Ideology... yes I happen to be a huge fan of ideology... it just always works so well for my projects and things I need to play with...

Now for the inside... wow I really started to have fun...  grabbed another paper from Graphic 45 and then went to town adding laces, trims, bows and even a little mirror on the top of the suitcase.. which was a must for the lady of that time...  On this vacation, she took a lot of pictures... (another Tim paper)  and was also the 1912 Fashion plate...  LOL...  so much fun.

I also had to make a little book for the inside of this suitcase...

This of course is all Graphic 45 papers and embellishments... so cute... and each page has a pocket for each day of the vacation... and the pictures for that day are in the pocket...

Of course a little write is due too... and there is room on these pages... the pages are a paper from Tim and it is the days of the week... how perfect for a weeks trip someplace...

Now since I love to make these... here are some others I have made in the past...
The other two you just saw are 4X5 inches... and 2 inches deep...   the top one here... the blue one is only 3x4... much smaller and so cute...  love all sizes... and you really can make these any size you desire... as they are simple to make.  once you have made the first one... that is...

This was a special one I made... made out of Suede cloth paper...  so your hands had to be CLEAN at all times... and if you had any glue the suede cloth would pick it up... I was amazed that I was able to do it... not only once... but I made two like this... with matching books...

Of course you can embellish these anyway that you choose to do so... with catches... etc... I also embossed the suede cloth here so that it looked like a special leather...

For those that LOVE Tim's papers... I know you know this one..  all the license plates... how special for a trip...

I used dyed ribbon for the handles here...

My Mother had traveled all over the world... and I one birthday I really didn't know what to make her... at 93 it is difficult... and so I made this little suitcase and the book inside... I made it for each country and state in the US that she had been to... she was ecstatic with this special little gift...  loved it and showed (of course) all her friends what I had made for her... and.... where she had traveled in her life...  I used K and Co paper on this box...

I made this one in a class...  nothing really amazing.. but I did use plain white paper and stamped using 6x6 stamps...  loved it...  (at the time...)

Had to share this little folder book with you that I made for the blue suitcase... it has seahorses all over it... (done with texture paste...)  Love it... still has some more embellishments to go... and hopefully I will be able to use this for a challenge soon!!!  Maybe not...  but I did have fun making the book... again Graphic 45 papers..

So there you have a VINTAGE TRAVLER, as I see it...
I could have made a tag, or a card... but wanted something special for all of you... so I do hope you have enjoyed this...  I love making these special little suitcases as presents, and for special people...  hope maybe you will too...

Have a wonderful day... and thanks so much for stopping by for a visit... hope to see you again soon...

Love, Light and Peace...Bonnie
