FIVE ... something with FIVE???

Anything but a CARD has a challenge going to use the number 5... Five of anything...  I have so many different projects that I need to get finished... and thought of how I could incorporate one of them for this challenge... finally it came to me... 

I wanted to make a small recipe book that has my FIVE favorite recipes in it...  for a quick reference, etc... it is going to be small, unlike the huge bin that I have for all my collection of recipes... 

So I got to work on this project... and here is what it looks like... I personally don't have the recipes in it... but they are going into it tonight... I love it... just the perfect size etc... 

It is 4.5 inches wide and 8.5 tall... and I used only one sheet of chipboard for the whole project... love it...  I used Tim's Wall flower paper and added some other clip art to the birds...  I am into a bird phase now...  can't get enough birds into my art... 

 

This is the cover of my book...  and I love these particular birds...  so great with the nest...  and the eggs... eggs, time, herbs... that is what it all stands for ... 

About five years ago my husband and I went gluten Free...  it was a life saving measure...  we were both have severe reactions from wheat... so when we gave it up, it meant that I needed to buy certain things that we loved... but couldnt' find them... so I started to make them myself...  you can find them today... but we are hooked on the ones I make...  Morning muffins, I generally make 24 at a time... gives my hubby enough for a few days... LOL... and then there are cookies that we like... they are sort of like granola bars... but I make them round like a cookie... needed a place for these kinds of recipes...  

The back of this book... more birds... matching the lovely yellow flowers ... eggs and more eggs all around.. .well I do use a lot in my cooking that is for sure... and since we have chickens...  I have a lot of eggs to use... 

So when you open the book... you see more birds... and more birds... but you also see FIVE pages... with tabs on each one... these are my 5 favorite recipes that I use to make our goodies with... 

 

I dont' use them everyday... but often...  other recipes are in my huge filing system of recipes...  

 

As you can see there are love birds on the first page... and then the tabs... I already have 3 recipes in there... and the other two will go in later today.. .as the project will then be complete..

So that is my #5 project...  5 favorite recipes for my book...

A LITTLE Tangling...

Monday.... and it is DIVA day... and I am also adding on to the challenge today... Anything But a CARD...  Both challenges took me all morning to do... LOL... as I got really into this with all my heart....

I Am the Diva.... I love Bijou... of course I do... anyone that knows me, knows that I LOVE SNAILS.... it was a trademark in college... and I still love them... a 'few' years later..  so Bijou was an instant success in my heart... now as for the 2X2inch tiles... yikes... I usually love to work LARGE... more room to tangle.. .but 2X2... I grabbed a .o1 pen... and started to play...  and all of a sudden... Laura, You were right...  I had quite a few done... and I chose a few and made a BLOCK... I love it... these are to remind me to follow certain things in life... will keep it on my desk... thanks...

Okay... and this week on Anything BUT a CARD... also had the theme of tangling... a Tisket a Tangle...  so I thought I would combine these two challenges...  As I already made something else too... 

it is all down below...

 

This block measures 3X3 square... and I love it...

Each side of course is different... 

 

I added some words, as I LOVE yours Maria...  they are really outstanding... as all of your work/play is... love it... 

 

Rick... I love paradox too... a fav of course... 

 

Auroknot is always a fun tangle for me... so I HAD to try it in a 2 x 2 inch square... when you actually make a frame... you are working in a space of about 1.5 square...  tiny little lines... one at a time...  I gave Bijou a little tiny friend...  LOL..

I have a friend that just started to tangle... and so I thought I would make her a journal to tangle into... so this is it..

 

Front tangle a little closer... 

 

Top half of the piece... called a TIA...

Ycut is the main tangle... with Girlande around the edges of the entire piece... 

 

One of my FAVORITE tangles is called the Purk... I love it...  and I added some Mooka...  I love making and creating with tangles... so this challenge was a really fun one for me to do...

 

The lower half of the piece... and I did sign it... small as it is...  really tiny...

 

On the inside of the journal, I put a pocket so that she can keep something in there... not a pen... put a special piece or something... 

 

So that is my tangling for the day... hope you enjoy it... and I also hope that I am able to get around to all of you on the DIVA challenge this week... last week was a blur...  also please check out ANYTHING BUT A CARD challenges...

Cool Waters and Anything Goes...

Today I have two challenges to enter this tag into... 

I have to tell you a SHORT story... I made the tag the other day... as I knew that I wanted to enter another tag for the FUNKIE end of the challenge...  well I took some pictures of it... and didn't like it... so it went back to the work table and got some alterations...  I now like it... 

So here it is... 

 

Just Swimming BY

I started off my coloring my paper with distress inks... then added some Texture paste thru a stencil... 

Love playing with that ... of course it takes me a long time... as I have to do three or ten more... LOL... just the way it is with me... addicted to playing.... 

 

Then I started to add all the little critters... 

 

 

This Shell is from Tim's nautical stamp set... and I stamped this on glossy paper and then used alcohol inks to accent it...  and THEN.... used Distress Glitter to go along the edges...  I use to love to find a nice clean large shell that was all shiny from the ocean waters... so wonderfully fun.

In the back ground you will see some TAPE that I bought at Home Depot... it is used for putting sheet rock together or something like that... not really sure... but it is fun to play with... sort of looks like netting of some kind... I think I bought this roll of stuff about 8 years ago... maybe longer when I was really into doing altered books... this was a must back then...  we didn't have all the goodies that we have today... 

 

 

My Sea Horses...  okay... they just looked so very plain... but there are in the back ground... the shell is the focal point... 

But they just didn't look happy...  so I dressed the Mama up...  ready for a dance... 

 

 

There is a reason for the post card tape and the pen... 

 

 

 

When you go away on vacation... you go to get a break from everything... and then after a few days you are all nice and relaxed and you go shopping and buy some post cards and then feel the need to write to all your friends back home and tell them that you are having fun... until you decided to stress out to get all these silly cards sent out!!!  Why do we do this to ourselves.. anyway... brought back some 'memories' of when we use to go to the shore...  

 

So this message is JUST SWIMMIN BY TO SAY HI.... and not to write post cards... LOL...

So this tag is for Frilly and Funkie Challenge....  which is Cool Waters this week... and it is the FUNKIE side of the challenge...  I love these challenges here... they are really fun and really get my mind going...  I would also like to AGAIN thank the DT for giving me this GREAT award of Guest Designer... I am having fun with that ....  hope you all join me back here next week...  it is going to be exciting for me... that is for sure... hope you like what I am creating...  wait until you see what it is... a SURPRISE for sure... 

The other Challenge I am doing this for is called Anything but a card...    this is the 3rd challenge that they have had and my first with this one... sounds pretty interesting... as I do a lot of off the wall things... LOL... as you all know ...
