Tick Tock, finally got one done

Hi …. Today being Saturday might not be the best day to be on line… but I have some time this morning… and am taking full advantage of it…  YEAH…  It is a clear… hot and HUMID day here in the southwestern part of North Carolina… but it is still summer here… it doesn’t know that we are suppose to cool down now that it is September… LOL.. it is starting to get warmer and warmer…  not a thing that I like…  but hey… I do enjoy my mountains… 

 

So today I am sharing with you something that I have been waiting to make for a few years now… not kidding… at times I am just not motivated to create certain things… and when that happens, it doesn’t get made… about three maybe four years ago, my neighbor and I were down HITTING Hobby Lobby and I bought 3 clock movements…  I was going to make clocks for the bedrooms…  right… I still have them… and other than value, they had a little dust on them too…  but that is okay… they were still in the original containers… LOL…  but out of the bag… and into a drawer, where I couldn’t see them staring at me… 

 

Anyway… this challenge on A VINTAGE JOURNEY  sort of got things going…  the challenge is to use a FLOURISH…. Now what am I going to use a flourish on… think …..think….. think…. OH maybe those clocks… oh wow… and a piece of paper that I had made using Astrid’s method of using textured paste and stencils… I think you will be able to see that in the background… I am sorry to say that I didn’t take any pictures as I was making this one… but you will see more than enough…

 

So with out more ADO… here are the pictures I have taken of my CLOCK… 

 

 

 

 

 

Starting at the top left and working clock wise around the clock...  what better way... 

 

I have used Coffee Filters for the flowers… two different styles of flowers…  so the color is very soft and natural.  I love using these coffee filters for all kinds of things, but for flowers they are so pretty…  sometimes they are darker, only because of the fact that the coffee has stained the filters… 

 

These little dark brown stamps, are vintage watch throb pieces  from way back… I just love them… and found them also in a stamp drawer… wow.. .I have to tell you that I joined the challenge called Craft Hoarders Anonymous… and I am so very glad I did… they have gotten me to move on cleaning out the entire studio… it it pounds lighter… and far more organized than it ever was… (I am obsessed in some ways… it has to be put away… but in other ways… it doesn’t have to be organized as long as it is in the right place… getting it done deeper feels better… and I am finding so many GREAT things… that I had forgotten… yikes… I think that was a confession…  oh well..  truth doesn’t hurt.. it just helps you GROW… 

 

 

 

This is a small piece of tatting that my great Aunt created… I come from a long line of women and men that used their hands to create with on a daily basis… this great AUNT use to live in Brooklyn, New York… back in the day … and would travel into Manhattan each day on the subway… and she would crochet or tat something all the time… it was a long comute for her… and she didn’t like to waste time… she made many wonderful pieces of crocheted ART.   All with very, very thin threads and fiber.  So  Thank You Aunt Bessie… I love you, and miss you. 

 

 

I love to make these little 'pockets' of goodness

at different places on my projects... 

this one has a tiny little flower,

some stamen,

and some gauze...  love it..   



 

 

 

 

This picture shows you the glory of the textured paste that is all over the clock.. 

 

 

 

 

 

As you can see there are lots of flourishes all over the clock face... turning corners, sides etc...  love the way you can DRAPE them where ever they want to be... 

 

Layers of Spellbinders create a face for the clock movement...  of course with some darkening to them... 

 

This printed paper, is by Authentic and I only bought one piece... (not in the correct brain at that time?)  and so I had to use it very carefully for this project... I love it...  and I actually had some left over for a few accents on other things... 

 

Also I used some gesso on the feet, and then used Archival inks  in Potting soil and one or two of the blues???  can't remember how many I used.. I have them ALL...  nothing obsessive about me... 

Again the finished clock... 

Which will be in our bedroom...  and I love it.. to say the least... one down... and two more to go...

So I am looking for another challenge that will suit making the one for the quest room and also our den...

A few challenges all combined...

July 11th I went to SIMON SAYS MONDAY CHALLENGE and low and behold... I had won the $50.oo shopping coupon...  oh wow...  it took me a long long time to pick out what I REALLY needed... LOL..  and after making many orders, I finally pushed the button that said Order complete???  YES... OMG... I had just picked out all kinds of really NEAT STENCILS...  love these things... can't have enough of them in my mind... been playing with these things in journals and on cards for over 4 years now...  and now with this TEXTURED PASTE... over the moon ALICE!!!!  (Do you remember that show... Jackie Gleason???)  Oh well guess you had to be there kind of thing.. 

So... the stencils arrived in a really short period of time... like in about 4 days...  and I could hardly wait to get into the studio to play...  oh what fun...

Well in a few minutes I ran out of space to lay down the wet papers... LOL.. so I took a break and studied them all... what fun stencils I had gotten...

I love them all... all having to do with nature... and so that is just me... I will use these for a very long time... that is for sure...

so here is some of my first 'off the press' examples of my night of playing with my new STENCILS... THANK YOU Simon Says Monday Challenge...  I really love shopping there ... and will be back again soon... I even got a $5.00 off coupon to use... so I will be back real soon... wow... what fun is this...

So here is what I created...

 

This is a little book...  3x4 inches... and made from one coffee filter...  put together with a piece of raffia... how simple can that be...

 

This project is for a few challenges.. so there were some 'rules' that I had to follow... 

Like

Use what is on your work table... 

Scratched up and Grungy

Recycle something.. 

Use something NATURAL

 

So I have used all these things... and what was on my work table was pictures I had printed of my Mother In law's maternal family... and a large coffee filter (recycled)  and raffia, and assorted other stuff...  that I used only one of...

 

And that was a piece of paper that I had made the other day...  using one of my stencils... Gingko leaf... and I had embossed it about 10-15 times... different color embossing powders, and then laid it down to play with later... well later arrived... I cut it up into 6 pieces... and also used a piece of small burlap which was also on my work table... left over from my And the BEAT GOES ON book...  (check the posting prior to this one... ) 

 

And this is how it all came together...

 

 

If you remember I had fun making all kinds of leaves the other night... well I cut some out and used a FEW of them in here...  love these gingko leaves...  used the stencil to make the paper and then used it with the Textured paste to make the textured leaves... what a great thing... 

 

This is a picture taken of My Mother in laws, Grandmother, Mother and Uncle..  I think about in the late 1800's...  yikes... a long time ago.. 

 

The center of the book...  on the left my Mother in Laws Father picture... and she is on the right...

 

 

Her Dad, who passed away when she was only 10 years old...  she hardly knew him, but loved him dearly... He brought her home a doll you will see in a little while... 

 

This picture was taken with a buddy of his on the pier at Atlantic City NJ... that is why the picture is so weird... I was going to have him sit on something and I actually forgot...  (time is running short and I need to fix dinner... wow!!!)

Another and last section of this little book...

 

 

 

Her name was Virginia, but we  called her Virge... 

 

She lived to be over 85 years old...  (always sort of said she was 29 and wouldn't say anything different...LOL) 

 

 

 

I really love this little book... it is soft and small and will fit into a very small little box of some of her special things... and her family was very special to her... 

 

I used some of Tim's Remnant rubs.. .I love those things...  so handy and they really make a nice accent...

Still more playing with Tim's Tag for June

I had a free period of time... and decided to play with Tim's June Tag again... I really enjoyed doing that type of background... AND I had a few new stencils... so I needed to use them... I don't like to have unused things in my studio...  LOL..  Paper is okay... but other things need to be used and tried out... 

So I started to play... and some of the backgrounds didn't come out really good.. not enough water... too much water... too much ink etc. etc... so all of a sudden I had a ton of backgrounds...

 

Some good ones...  still to be used...  LOL.. so maybe with any luck I will be able to make a few more... not now... got a full schedule this week-end... and this afternoon...  ugh... I love to play.... 

 

I added more ink to give an even more in depth look...  Love this too...  and the colors were really spurring me to create with these...  you will see... 

 

 

So I guess it is fair to say that I really did have fun... and since I LOVE hearts... it really turned out to be my favorite stencil for this one... 

 

I do have a stash of all the background papers I make... so the extras went into that bin... and WILL BE USED at a  later date... 

 

Okay.. then I started to create some of them...  trimming them all up and getting ready to play was a lot of fun too... getting out all the things that I wanted to play with ...  just good old fun.  I think I made about 25 backgrounds... prolific??? Not a chance...  just having FUN... 

 

 

Even though the background wasn't as good as others... I wanted to use the colors... love them...  Capture Magic Now is on the chit chat ....  I wanted to use some of my new Wallflower pad... so I cute out this little bird... I SEE You...  silly huh??? Just a good mood after playing and creating... 

 

Again a fun background... using Victorian Velvet and edging in Walnut stain....  adding all the pictures is also fun... I do happen to enjoy cutting out things...  so that is fun to me.. 

 

LOVE my DRAGONFLIES... so this one had to be put into the Pickled Raspberry and faded jeans...  love the way the colors blended on these...  really love it... 

 

I also cut out a free cut flower set...  and love that... sorry that these pictures really don't show things up... I think I have to figure out which things on the camera I fiddled with and didn't put back... oh well..  I should really remember the settings...  memory !!!  the name on this tag...

 

UNDERSTANDING CRAZY...

 

 

Can anyone relate???? 

 

Okay... started to get a little bit warmed up... and added a side panel on this one...  Love my CROW... Thanks for the CROW Tim... I love this one...  right size and all... perfect.. 

 

Anyway... added a few roses... as the roses are all blooming here... and the butterflies are all around... as are the dragonflies... love this time of year... even though we are having night time severe thunder and lightening storms...  it is okay... cools us down a little bit, and also waters the raised beds...  our farm requires a lot of water...  and because it is so spread out... it is very difficult to water... 

 

 

 

This is on the inside of this tag... The word is REMEMBER...  LOL.. wish I could remember it all... but I remember enough to get me into trouble... 

 

Made a few paper beads for this one, out of extra side papers that were trimmed off to create the tag... 

 

Really had a blast with this one...  layers and layers of all kinds of papers... from coffee filters, sheet music, book pages, printed papers, etc etc... there are a lot of layers on this tag... and then I added a bow... and a large flower using coffee filters, and the tattered floral die cut... that die cut is one of my all time favorites.. I have done a lot of classes using that die cut...  everyone loves it... 

 

I saved my all time favorite for last... 

 

I took a sheet that I had made and stamped Queen Anne's lace all over it and embossed it with white embossing powder... 

Then I cut it all up and put the squares onto another sheet...  that I used another one of Tim's techniques on... picking up inks from the worksheet...  my all time favorite to do when I am up in the middle of the night... makes no noise and lots of mess... love it..

 

Okay.. .then I used a paper punch for the lace and made three rows of that... adding a little vintage to the bottom one only...  made a few more beads... and added a flower... 

 

It still needed something else... I didn't really want words on this... so I added a favorite .... a rusted dragonfly... and I dressed the dragonfly with some gems... very deserving of them too... she was so very excited... 

 

Add a little heart that says I LOVE YOU...  will give this to my sweet hubby for Father's day...

Layers upon layers for the BEES

Sometimes when I do a challenge I wish I had done something else... so I sat down and started to do another challenge piece for the CC3 #4 challenge...   All the details are there for you to look at, if you missed my first piece...  

anyway... this piece I really let loose with and had a blast making it...  I have been on a roll this week... inbetween classes, and household and farm chores... I have gotten a lot of playing done... still have some more postings...  but this one was fun to create... 

Here it is...

I call this one DISCOVER... as I discovered a lot of fun things while creating this one... 

 

I made my own stencil using one of Tim's die cuts... love doing that... and the outcome I really love...  Of course I had to let it dry over night...

 

Wait...

 

WAIT....

 

WAIT... I am trying to be patient... 

 

Then I started to layer all the goodies... and then I used some gesso and had to wait...

 

And WAIT.... And wait some more... until it was all dry... 

 

FINALLY I started to play... 

 

using inks to high light areas, and also to color areas that I wanted to make pop...  used a distress pen to go around the flowers... and then started to free hand the large one...  I was really going wild... having fun too... 

 

I had gotten in making some pretty envelopes... and put a couple of them on the side... and slipped in a few tags...  attached a Number 2...  for the feeling...

 

DISCOVER TWO WRITE...  thus the pen nib in the butterfly... 

 

 

 

This was suppose to be all about the BEES... so I will show you a few of the bees too... we must protect our bees in all ways... as much as we can.... don't use chemicals on your plants... and also make sure that where you buy your plants they don't use chemicals...  you know you might think...

 

 "Oh I am just going to buy a few....ir won't hurt anything... and no on will know... "

 

 well those few could wipe out a WHOLE colony of bees... that is how serious this is...  after all the bees go... guess what... we are next...  not a threat... just the truth...  sad to say...  be loving to all bees..  I love you for that... that is for sure..   

 

My Queen bee is on the hive... and she is all glittery with distress glitter....  love it...  so very much fun...
