#10 Deck the Halls with boughs of HOLLY

Oh what fun it is to ride... no... I can't sing that again.... I need a new song...  How about I am dreaming of a White... no that has the word SNOW it in... and that is one of those 4 letter words...  not something we need...  okay...  how about Deck the Halls with boughs of Holly....  that is a good one... and it goes with my super large tag...

Well I am back again for the #10 tag of
the 12 days of Christmas
at the

and Linda has done it again...
totally created another WONDERFUL tag...

and this time the inspirations were many...
I loved every bit of this tag Linda... it is yummy plus...
But the heart... wow... love it.. and the holly...
and then to create an Astrid look alike...
not a problem there.. as I LOVE her work...
She creates one stunning piece after the other...

So here is what I created...

When I was a little girl, my Mom use to tell me how she and her father use to collect Poinsettias on Christmas day to decorate the banister...  it was a special day in all ways... they would take a match to burn the ends of the poinsettias so that the 'milk' wouldn't get all over everything...

My Mom grew up in Florida, and lived in a beautiful large home...  and from the pictures I have seen of the house, this must have been magnificent.

Anyway... This is for my Mom and her father, my dear Gramp...
Thanks for the memories to both of you...

As we go along here, you will see that I have created a holly branch... using Martha Stewarts holly leaf... and then some wire... and of course liquid pearls for the berries...

The Poinsettias, I used Tim's Tattered Poinsettia and
added an extra medium size flower...
just to make them full...
and used my favorite color right now....

PICKLED RASPBERRY...

and some aged mahogany ,
and some black and about 10 other colors...
 can't really remember all..
but you get the idea...
it was a lot of different reds, etc...
and PINKS...
wanted the poinsettias to JUMP out off this large tag...
speaking of which...
it is 4.25 X 11  HUGE...
but it is for the front of a special bag...
and it needs to be large...

maybe I will use it for something else...
anyway...
you get the idea..

Used a piece of corrugated cardboard and ran that thru the die cut for the top right piece...
And then....

Deck the Halls with boughs of Holly....
fa la la la la la la la la... . laaaaaa....

I used daffodil liquid pearl in the centers...
as I really wanted a contrast here...

Oh...
I should tell you how I did my background...
I sprayed some pine needle on paper...
then stamped the word stamp..
Christmas, joy, festive etc...
and didn't like the way it was...
so I added some gold...
and then clear embossed..
 and more colors...
Really didnt' like it...
so I made another one...
didn't know which I was going to use...
but used the first one...
LOL.. funny huh???
I have a lot of those papers in my studio...
big container filled to the brim... use them a lot too..

Then I took some textured paste and colored it...
using about 4 different green inks on it...
finally got what I loved
and used my holly stencil and created the back ground...
a la Astrid...

Of course the green from the back ground and the green leaves
do give a nice contrast...
and then the gold...
Oh I love it...

Then I added a wooden cut out holly leaf...
a few years ago our dollar store had these...
and wow I wish I had bought more...
I am not sure who they are made by...
as the package had to go... too much bulk for my Christmas bin...
but I do love these..

You can finally see a leaf a la Astrid style...

The whole tag again...
I really love the contrasts on all the levels here...
texture and colors...
thanks for all the lovely comments I have been getting on my blog and also all the personal ones...
I really appreciate them all...
thanks for stopping by for a visit...
I really would have liked to serve some Winter Ciders...
but didn't think I could serve them properly...
 LOL..
A little messy on line...

Hope you have a great day...
I have one more tag...
yikess
this is so very much fun...
hope you have joined in...
and are making tags crazy like me...
I think I will get them all done...
I was worried there for a while...
but can see the end of the tunnel now...
and these are some fun ones...
Oh they all have been fun..

Thanks to Linda and all these creative inspirations
there are a lot of very creative entries too...
hope you will take a look and see them all too..

Also please visit the BOUTIQUE...
so many wonderful toys and things that we all need...

The challenge is to use Sizzix die cuts...
wow... not a hard challenge for me...
on this tag I used the tattered Poinsettia and also the lattice die cut on the top right...  both are so very pretty together...

Please make sure you go to the FUNKIE JUNKIE
and see all the wonderful work of all that are creating these
12 days of Christmas Tags,
and also go and view the
Lots of fun there too… wow…
you name it…
It is a wonderland all unto it’s self…

Hope you have a wonderful day, evening and end of the year...
it is a very special time of the year...  and soon it will be the shortest day of the year...  Solstice ...  once again a time for love, peace and good will to all on the face of this earth mother.

Love, Light and Peace...

#9 Let It Snow

Oh What fun it is to ride... in a one horse open sleigh....

And it truly is... we use to have Belgium Horses and the rides were always fun, glorious and delightful in all ways...  I loved it...  no matter what the weather was, it was delightful....  Even being behind those two huge boys...  2600 pounds each... HUGE hunks of sweet gentle giant horses.....

So Linda... you have out done yourself with this wondrous tag of Black and gold GLITZ... love it all.. very regal and wonderful...

Oh I forgot to tell you.. I am creating the tags for
and what fun I am having...

Join in on the fun...

start with day one... and make a tag for each of the 12 days of Christmas tags... using Linda's Tag as the inspiration for your tag and creation...

Also
I am entering this tag into the Art With Heart December
challenge over at Eileen Hulls' site...
to use Sizzix dies...
No problem with that... I love them...
On this tag I happen to have used a few...
The snowflake border and also the rosette snowflake ones... love them all...  a little glitter and wow... looks like real snow landed...

Oh what fun it is to ride in a one horse open sleigh...
This keeps on playing over and over in my mind...
I hope it doesn't mean it is going to SNOW...

Ooooops...
I just said a bad 4 letter word...
So very sorry about that...
I apologize for that ...
hope we don't though...

Using Linda's tag as my inspiration...
I wanted to also use the SNOW theme...
and I wanted to do it in silver...
and I wanted to create a multi layered background...
All of these are from Linda's inspirational tag...  the hardest part is picking out which inspirations I am going to use...
LET IT SNOW...
That is my theme...

oooooopss.... I slipped again...
and even put it on my tag too...
LOL...

So here is my tag...

I had a lot of fun creating this tag...
and of course it is one of my favorite ones...
Does that happen to you???
my last tag is always the favorite one...
UNTIL
I make the next one...

The Background...
Pretty enough just as it is...  but I added a few things...

The paper was white when I started this...
and I used gesso as a resist...
Then I colored it with about 5-6 different sprays I made,
using distress dyes,
perfect pearl powders, and water of course...

Then I put it thru an embossing folder...
and used Pearl white acrylic paint on
a sponge to color the raised snowflakes...
Then I put on some silver snowflake decals that I think I bought well over 10 years ago...
So proud of myself...
for using things like that...
so much of it goes to waste...

I took pictures in different areas,
as the whole background is not the same all over...
some areas are really wonderful...
and some are just GREAT...
LOL...

I have been having fun with using Gesso as a resist...
I made my own stencil with a Tim Snowflake die and
a piece of reused piece of plastic from a package...
cutting the snowflakes out where I wanted them to be... and then using the gesso to make the resist...

Works great...
Allow it to dry
and then mist
and color
to your hearts desire...

Okay... then...  I created a few snowflakes...
The Glitter was flying...
and a shower is not going to take this all off...
Looks like my hubby will be wearing it tomorrow...
he really doesn't mind too much...

Okay... layers of snowflakes
all covered in white glitter
Silver glitter
clear glitter...
and then layered to create ONE snowflake...
and then again...  for the smaller one...

I also used the snowflake border by Tim and
ran them in opposite directions...
one in silver glitter
and one in white glitter...
Oh what fun it is to ride in a one horse open sleigh...

The snow is falling and it is GREAT...
On my tag that is...
yikes...
lets save all that white stuff
for some other time...
okay..???

So that is my Let it snow Tag...

The banner... is done on a dark navy vellum and the letter were cut out from a piece of the tag...
prior to being embossed...
Glitter sort of got all over it anyway...
 so that was perfect...

This little girl...
her fur has clear and white glitter all over it also...
not sure you can see that though...
it is one sparkling TAG...

I almost forgot to add my 2nd tag... in fact I did... am editing my blog... LOL... my brain is in other places...
(actually #12 tag)

I added the bottom of the tag first... as it names the tag...

I wanted to show the deer playing in the snow...
where the humans didn't see them...
You know...
Deer are like people....
they need to play and act out to create their own kind of fun...
so hopefully you can get that feeling...

I am going to let you look at the pictures...

I added this little wreath and fence... for the bottom of the tag...
Walking in a Winter Wonderland...
Oh what fun...

I had to share this tag... as I had to make two..
compulsive????
Just obsessive...
I love all my tags..
and thank you Linda for adding to my pile of tags...

Please make sure you go to the FUNKIE JUNKIE

Lots of fun there too… wow…

you name it…

It is a wonderland all unto it’s self…

Thanks Linda for the inspiration...
I love this tag... did I say that already... ???
Well I do...
But tomorrow is another day...
and only 4 more tags to do...
My brain is working double time
on trying to create all these tags...
and I am really having fun with it...
These last four are going to be fun too...
Wait until you see what fun they are...

Hope you are going to join in on the fun...
thanks again Linda... and to all who have kept this going...

Ooooops....
Linda just finished the #12 Tag..
WOW Linda...
WHAT A FINALE....
LOVE IT...
it was a little frustrating that it took you so long.... (LOL)
BUT
I want to tell you that it was so very worth it...
I love it... great tag and I can hardly wait to start on #12...
WOW....

I have #10 and #11 to do.. and then onto #12..
I really don't want these challenges to finish...
Love them..

with the challenges
and also with all the comments
and helping everyone to make sure we are
connected to the challenges correctly...
what a very positive experience this has been...
Loving it all...
THANK YOU!

Thanks for stopping by today to visit...
and hope to see you tomorrow too...
oooops... later.. I am playing again all day..
I even canceled my dentist appointment so I could play all day...

#8 Twas the Night before Christmas

Twas the Night before Christmas and all through the house…

Not a creature was stirring,

Not EVEN a Mouse…

When I was a child growing up, there were special times through out the year that still are memories near to my heart…
well when I saw Linda’s tag… what came into my mind,
Twas the Night before Christmas…
the stockings were hung by the chimney with care…
in hope that Saint Nicklaus soon would be there…
 YES!!!

(Inspiration was the stocking and the hanging of it for Santa to fill with all the goodies... now I pray for Ranger stuff in my stocking.... or a nice trip to Funkie Junkie boutique...  )

So when I started to do my tag..
I had to bring those memories back into my mind…
my Mom would sit my brother and I on the couch,
one of us on each side of her,
and she would read the story of

‘THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS”

And I always loved the part of the little mouse…

My Mom would squeal like a little mouse…
funny but I would get the biggest chuckle out of it…
my Mom sounded so very funny doing it…

Well… I had to do something like that for my tag..

So I drew a mouse…

Colored it with Colored pencils,

Cut it out with spellbinders, and then glitter starting flying to make snow flakes, cover leaves, add a background around the mouse of glitter… and oh what fun…

Some glittery snowflakes with a huge Pink Gem stone in the middle...

Glittery leaves too...  what a fun thing...

My actual tag… I used one of Tim’s branch stamps, and stamped in greens and
then in embossing ink,
and used a powder called enameled powder…
gives a very fine bright white color…
hope you can see it on the tag branches…

I wanted the wintery look,
as we generally always had snow of some kind
on Christmas as I remembered it…
so I put the snowflakes border on the edge of the tag…
Some Victorian Velvet ribbon…
and done…
I love it…

Oh yes… I did hand write the beginning of the saga…

When I was little my brother and I had
learned the piece by heart…
and so when my Mom would read it…
we would say the words with her…
always such a fun time as I was growing up…

Then we hung our stockings by the chimney with care…
and followed it through out the night…
listening for Santa…
and finally we heard him on the roof,
and would fall off to sleep…

Merry Christmas to all… and to all a Good Night…

Hope that Santa brings you all that you love..
and that you have the
Happiest of days
over the next few weeks...

Thanks for stopping by for a visit... and hope to see you later too...  So much fun with all these tags Linda... this is fantastic.

#7 Tag for the TWELVE DAYS OF CHRISTMAS

Oh MY GOODNESS...
better known as OMG!!!

what fun I have had today...
I got a little carried away... but that is okay..
I am having Fun with

Okay.. I really did get a little carried away with this...
used up the last bit of energy I think I had...
What fun is that... have to drag myself to the kitchen now and fix a hurried up LUNCH
thank Goodness I have the best hubby in the world...

please do GO and see what is happening there...
it is a CHALLENGE with prizes,
and also with so much talented work and fun...
tons of ideas and great things...
Know that you will enjoy it...

Here is what I have created from the inspiration that you,
Linda gave to me with this tag...
The ornament and the holly and the textured background...
WOW..
I tried to do something soft and comfy feeling like yours...
but it just didn't work out that way...
so I used the inspiration of the Holly, the textured background and in stead of the ornament... I created  a tree to hang it on...

I started off with this tag of holly...
I seem to be really gun ho and need to use a lot of Holly this year????...

I have also been trying to learn new things... and have been learning old English Smocking... and did a few Christmas balls too...  what fun they are.
A little on the time consuming side.. but I quickly finished this one up the other night, because I had hoped it would fit into one of the tags I created...  and today it has...

CELEBRATE YOUR INNER ELF...
LOL...
INNER ELF didn't help at all..
believe you me...

For my tag... I have had to take my studio apart... and have just about gotten it sort of back together in some kind of order... still can't find some things at all.. .but this is what I had to do...

FIND SOME CORRUGATED BOARD...
Garage....
Recycling boxes...
Yes... just what I need...

Finally something comfortable to play with...

I took my holly stencil and using my textured paste... create the scene on the back...  then used inks to color it, when dry...
Then I used my Liquid pearls to emboss it... with more texture...
and also with a glossy feeling...
DRY...
QUICKER... PLEASE...
Oh well.. I work on the next thing...
THE TREE...

using some green inked papers that were hanging around.. I tore and rolled them into similar sizes...  in diameter...
then glued them onto a skewer...
Adorning the center of the tree with STARS...
And adding a piece of Linen ribbon...
Some gold was also added to the paper to JAZZ it up a little ...
Using scraps, sometimes you need to add what you really desire at the last minute...

Okay.. .the berries...
using my liquid pearls... I heat gunned them...
until they
POPPED... love the effect of that..

Tag...  three hours... drying time was 3/4 of the time... LOL..
Christmas ball...  18 hours...
with lots of learning on it...
so very much fun...

My 7th tag...
but wait...

while I was waiting for stuff to dry...

I got involved with other things...

Laughing all the way...
(singing a song...  you have to glad you are not here..)

Oh yes... what fun it is to make a mess...
that hopefully you will be able to pick up
so you can play later too...

You see... I guess I have a nervous condition...
maybe it is an addiction...
anyway.. .
I love it...
I have to keep busy...
all the time...
Maybe it is knitting as we are driving along in the car...
or maybe it is making one more tree a little bit different...
or maybe it is making that pretty pink piece of paper...
are you ever going to use it???
YES...
use it now...

I have bins and bins of die cuts, that need to be used...
but today???
Why not...  get them out...
see what you have...
use them...
they are so very pretty...
color them with gold...
is that other piece dry yet...
still tacky...
can't add the tree until it is dry...
maybe I won't get the 3rd project done today...
Oh YES I will...

so I colored the dies with a gold pen...
it calms me down a little bit...
 not much...
a little bit is what I said...

Do you have the
ink

ink pad

distress paint

everything

that is made with PICKELED RASPBERRY????

OMG... I love the stuff...
it is sheer gold in the studio...
LOVE IT...
So I used it to make the paper...
and then I used it to color the berries
Did I tell you I LOVE IT...
Can you tell..????

Again using up die cut items... I was really able to put this bag together in about 10 minutes... and the liquid pearls were not in the least bit dried...

But then I made the tree...
that took about 15 minutes...
and still not dry...
OH DEAR ME...
WHAT TO DO...

Well I do love this bag...
I think I will also use this for this #7 tag challenge...
as it is pretty like Linda's tag...
not soft...
but so very pretty...
Inspiration...
soft and pretty...
mine...
WILD and PICKLED RASPBERRY!!!!

is that the same???

Added a few holly leaves to balance the bag out...

And now for the gift that needs to go into this bag...
Ohhhh that is a surprise...
and also to whom it is going to...
They will love it...
keep their 'special' things in it...
and admire this color all year long...

I have had a very fun day... and finally got the tree glued onto the tag... and took the pictures...
By the WAY...
The berries and the greens...
THEY ARE STILL WET...
