The Queen!!

Pretty Flowers plus new techniques

 A tag for a couple of challenges...  first off this is for Tims tag for May...  I am so very happy about this... as I had bought the melt pot a few months ago to make porcelain flowers... and the list of to do's kept on getting longer and longer... and the porcelain flowers just never got to the top of the list...  o well... this pushed me into dusting off the melt pot and doing it...  I did do it a little bit differently though... you will see below... 


I also love my Mondays as I can sit and think about what I am going to create for Simon Says Stamp and Show...  I love that challenge... all the DT really do GREAT work... and it is very inspirational... so today it was Anything Goes... LOVE IT... so I am combining the two...  but will most likely do another for both or one...  LOL... have to see how the day goes...   


I also wanted to do a new technique that I have been wanting to do for a while... and I did it on this tag...  it is really great... you collage a piece of paper to the desired space... and then brayer some acrylic paint over it... and then wipe it off quickly... leaving a faded image!!!  So I did that over the bird cage area...  it did exactly what I wanted to do... left the image and yet not as clear as it was... just the desired look...  


Prior to doing that ... I had made my background with some of the new Squeezed Lemonade Yellow Distress ink... very very pretty color... bright and charming... and when dry... just sweet and lovely...  then I used a crackle stamp of Tim's with Archival Coffee to make the paper look a little old...   and roughed up the edges...  


My Mannequin...  well... that took me a little time... I didn't like the first 4 I did... wrong size... wrong color... wrong this and that... so finally I got this one... and it was perfect...  color just what I wanted... I am in this pink and yellow phase... ??? Love them together... .especially with Dyan's dylusions... love that ... yikes... wild plus... okay... back to this...  


Then I took a Wreath from Garden Patch Collection    and after coloring it with my Distress Markers... which I love the greens in that collection of markers... best ever... and then I used some Liquid Pearls to give some dimension to the leaves..  

 I love that look...  


The Seam Binding ribbon was dyed with the Lilac in the Spring Collection of Distress Inks... and put around the mannequin shape...  
THEN  ..... I have to tell you I had funny feelings about using the melt pot... I am chemically very sensitive... so I was a little worried... but I opened my French doors on the studio and it was fine... I plugged it in and went to town...    I had made my flowers... and I used BABY WIPES.... that  I had dyed with the lilac ink... and then cut them with the Tattered Florals die cut...   I didn't know how they would hold up... but they did GREAT... as you can see... they are so very thin and look fragile as all get out... total porcelain

 This is looking up from the bottom of the tag... as I tucked on under neath the wreath...  love the shimmering and shining of the flowers... so very pretty...  

 Then I took a violet I had made...  a flower that I have been working on for a new collection.... and it had been colored with the new lilac also...  and then a drop of Liquid Pearl for the center of the flower...  I love the bubbles  that I got into this flower...  it reminds me of Dew Drops on the violets when you pick them in the early morning... I love to use violets on cakes etc... and always will dip them in powdered sugar...  so very pretty on a cake or fancy cupcakes... they are so good to eat too... full of vitamins for the well being of your body... 

So looking back on this fun tag... I love the whole thing... and I learned a lot of fun things...  I love the colors together...  and had fun with the new techniques...

Reflections

 This is another section of my art journal... as you can see... sometimes thoughts are all that really enter my mind... the rest is just fun...  I drew this woman??? have no clue who she is... she just came thru my drawing... and I love her...  hopefully someday I will meet her...  if not oh well... she was fun to draw and color.  the papers are techniques and also from my pile of 'scrap' that I love to pull from... so as you can see it sort of all goes together in here... nothing ever matters ... that is the way it should be all the time in everything we do...

Butterfly Butterfly

 Happy FRIDAY to all out there .... I know that when you work out of the house Friday is always a GREAT day of the week...  so Happy Friday in all ways to all .... 


Friday is always a good day... as I get to do this challenge for L3 Studio... and Linda is always choosing something fun from Tims Volume 2 book... and this week... it is page 48...  Shattered Stains...  if you dont' have the book... get one... it has a lot of GOOD THINGS in it... . you are going to be glad you did.... 


I really wanted to do different colors...  but didnt get the color look I really wanted... but I do like these too...  It is a little chilly in my studio today... as it is chilly outside for this time of the year... and also my studio faces west... so I get the afternoon sun!!!  Hot and horrible in the summer... but warming and wonderful on cooler days..  like today...  


Okay... enough on the weather...  I had fun doing this... I made my butterflies... and started to play with the stains... and that is when they got a little bit different colored than I wanted... but I love the way they look... 

 Now what would a tag of mine be without FLOWERS????  Come on...  
So I had to add a couple of the flowers I have in a quart mason jar...  not kidding... I love making and using these tattered pinecone roses...  love it... I use Dyan's dylusions... and have a field day... of course my table where all my inks are... is starting to look like a spray booth... not good... but hey... no one ever said it had to be perfectly clean... right...???? it is used... very used and I love it...  

 After I got my butterflies onto the tag... I felt that they needed a little jazzing up... so I added some gem stones.. and then some antennae on with the black enamel   

The background was fun.. .as I got my work sheet cleaned up from a field day with my three new Distress Inks...  Love the turquoise and the lilac...  The yellow is going to be GREAT for the fall... love it too...   

When I got the tag all put together I was surprised at how dark it was... I wanted a Peacock and lilac colored tag... but certainly didn't get that look at all... did I????

The CAT!!!

He spooks me out.. keeps on appearing and then all of a sudden he is gone... yikes...  I think I am out of here... that cat looks like he is going to jump out of the tree any minute and yet I know that he doesn't jump.. he just leaves... totally gone...  wow... wish I could do that sometimes... dont' you????  Wild goings on... 


I am running around trying to find out what the Top Secret is...  


Over at Altered Alice there is a challenge going on and this is the third entry I have done this month so far... I have to finish this story.. and also show you my new Altered Alice Journal... so hold on... a few more days... .  

This cat is about ready to jump off the page... !!!!  

With all the bubbles filled with all kinds of things I guess it is spooking him too...LOL... 

Well it is fun no matter what... I can really let loose on pages for Altered Alice... so very free and wild...

This little piggy

Pink Illusions

When I teach a class I have all kinds of brain energy... prior and after... and my mind will not stop creating... it is endless... so I go to a class tired... and then come home tired... thinking that I am going to have a good nights sleep.. WRONG!!! I stay up half the night creating things in my mind that I want to do in the studio the next day... of course I can't do that... as I am so very tired that I try to gather up enough energy to simply write down the ideas that I have thought of... 

This is one of those many ideas... it only took a few months to be created... but I dreamt of it the night prior to my White on white class in April!!!  now it is the middle of May and I finally got the card made!!!  

Anyway... the dream was about using the poinsettia die from Spellbinders and creating this Carmelia flower... I love it... it is truly about the color and shape of the ones in our yard... they are so very pretty when in bloom in December and January... it is hard to realize that such a pretty flower is blooming and the possible snows could fly at any minute... but the bush keeps on going... so wonderful....  

Anyway... I think you can see the possibilities with so many of these dies... we just have to allow our minds to flow in all directions... and then create with it... so neat...

FAVORITES

A page of Favorites 

 

Today Simon Says Stamp and Show challenge is to use your FAVORITE stamp… Oh MY  GOODNESS !!!  There are way too many favorites…  it would look junky plus… 

So I decided to do one thing… and that was to do a "FAVORITES"  page in my journal… a favorites of today that is… LOL… as each day new things blooms… colors that I have to use… stamps that are my favorites, new digitals that I have drawn… on and on… so here are my FAVORITES  …TODAY!!! 

Favorite Colors...  Greens, pinks, purples

 

Favorite Stamps …  the dragonflies, snail and WORDS… these words have been used so very many times that the stamp which is over 7 years old is literally falling apart… it was one of the first clear stamps that Stampington put out… and I have to say that it was not the best of quality… at all… and it was very sticky and hard to get on and off the acrylic block… well it has it’s own block and I guess it is truly my very favorite stamp of all times…  even with all the faults… I love it… 

Love SNAILS ! ! ! 

 

I love my snails, and also all my dragonfly stamps… so I used some that I haven’t used in a while…. Felt good… as I love them too…  Then I chose some fitting words, and also some of my favorite Pretties  By Bonnie digital art … I have released a few of these… but the two by two flower will be released soon…  I love the wreath that is why I had to include that here…I love to put dots on this wreath... as well as on leaves... but really love to do that on the wreath....  it is my favorite to color, cut out!!! And use the most of all..  it goes with everything … like a little black basic dress…. LOL… that is it…

I have to say that I love my Distress Inks… and used them to create all the papers… and also used my very favorite stencil which is of leaves by TCW…. Love it… and also Dyan’s circle… favorites on the list of all favorites…   

A wreath I love to color, cut and use all the time 

 When I am tired, or need a boost of energy... I will make papers... using my work sheet, a few ink pads... and then some spritzers, perfect pearls ... all in one place and handy to use... I will make 15 sheets of paper that I LOVE and become my favorites too... so I have used a few of them too...  they have tons of glimmer and elegance to them...  I love them all.. 

ME....  Riding the Energy in my own unique way...

Blue and Brown

 I have to say that I am not really into browns that much... so to add blue... a little dark for me... BUT a challenge is suppose to open up the doors and it did...  


I had to use my new colors of Distress Inks anyway... and so the Peacock Feathers was a chosen BLUE... and then what about this MELTED CHOCOLATE by Dyan... Love it...  so I chose to make melted chocolate roses in honor of all the Mothers ... as MOthers Day is this coming week-end in the US...  so what Mom doesn't love chocolate??   And Roses??? Combine the two and we are in heaven... LOL...    I used one of Tim's stamps and then I used a gold metallic gel pen... which ran out of ink half way thru doing what I wanted to do... and so I used a broad tip pen... but didnt' get the delicate look I really wanted on it... 

 BUT.... I do like it...  


then I added some Baby Blue Liquid Pearls on to some of the other areas... and then used some stencils with dabbers on top of it all...  


Then I had to add my MELTED CHOCOLATE Roses....  love it... I also used Perfect Pearl misters on them... but the glimmer doesn't show????  Boo hoo... but it is there...  

I had planned on adding some words.. but loved the elegance of the stamping and the roses... so this was done... other than three little bows at the top of the tag...  just a finishing touch... 

Thanks to Hels, and her Sunday Stamper Challenge I did open into another color scheme that I didn't feel that comfortable with....


Hope that you will try things outside of your box... it really does help one to GROW... in a more positive way...  


Hope you have a wonderful day... I am going to go play with my other new distress ink pads now...   I love the three colors... so rich... and I now have reinkers for them and the other two sets... YEAH!!!!  Now I can go wild with them... my purple was almost all out of juice!!!  Now it is rich again...

Top Secret?

 Top Secret??? What ever could it be????  Everyone is trying to figure out what it is... The Rabbit is announcing that he has the TOP SECRET... but is not allowed to let anyone know... oh what ever could it be... the Queen must know..???  But I think we would all be better off trying to find the Mad Hatter and seeing what he has to say about this... he might know...  
(By the way.. this is for the ALTERED ALICE CHALLENGE that started today for the month of May... check it out and join in on the fun... I bet you will love it as much as I do...  brings the light into my day when I do an Alice challenge...  )  

 So you know what this could be???  Do you think that maybe the White Queen is looking for a place to settle down and find a nice place to stay...???? Or maybe the Queen of HEARTs is having a soft spot in her heart for the White Queen???? 


Maybe the Mad Hatter is going to start making dresses... and no longer make hats???  

So much going on around here... everyone is running around looking for everyone else... trying to find out the TOP SECRET!!!!   

(I put this page in this direction so that you didn't have to stand on your head to read it... but think you are better off reading the other ones... LOL... )) 

Well.. I had a lot of fun making this page... and a few others that I will release in a few days... I did make my ALICE journal... and will share that with you too... 

I made a few rubber stamps of leaves, and had a blast print them with olive green archival inks... and then cutting them out for the tree... The stenciling is so much fun...  and the doodling is right up my alley... so to say I had fun with this...  is an understatement...  AND since I love ALICE.... and all the others.... right down to the little baby piggy...  I had fun with this and the other pages...  

Hope you will check back for the rest of the story...  LOL..  Can Alice have these other stories attached to it??? Is it against the rules of Alice in Wonderland to have these side stories on going all the time???  Do you think that they stay with the same story line all the time???  

Oh well.. speaking of time...  I hear that crazy rabbit saying that he is LATE for a very important date... maybe I will go see if he is going to tell the TOP SECRET... Roses all around ME

HAPPY FRIDAY .... The week-end is here... and all kinds of things start to happen... fun and games galore!!! Have a wonderful time with all that goes on...  

Today... being FRIDAY.... it is time for LINDA LEDBETTER  to do another challenge... using Tim's book A Compendium of Curiosities Vol 2 


This week it is page 43... layering of all kinds of things... and for those of you who know me... you KNOW I love to layer... so... with that in mind I added even a few more layers... LOL...  I created the piece according to page 43... and had a blast doing it... it is not a new technique to me... but one that is not used as often as I should use it... 


I think at times we get into ruts... and that is one of the main reasons to do challenges... getting out of your comfort zone all the time is GOOD.. and it is very healthy too...  so I did that again... 


Well I have to start off saying that I had a few things that I HAD to get done prior to starting the challenge...  One was that my sweet hubby brought me in some roses... and then he brought me in a long stem rose...  all from old times rose bushes that  he has propagated and grown quite a few from the original one... the bushes actually smell like the old timey ROSE... not something artificial... but the real thing...SOOOOooooo I had to gather up a vase that showed off the beautifulness of these flowers...  okay... so beautifulness is not a real word... but I think it is...  


Then... I had to clean up my work area... nothing major... just my work sheet had a lot of inks on it... and the way I clean it up, is to naturally spray it with water and then take some nice clean 8.5 x 11 sheets of paper and clean it up... and do it again and again until all the inks are cleaned up... of course then I have to wait until all the papers are dry... that I have laid all over the floor... LOL... one thing really does beget another... in so many ways...  no kidding!!!!  




Okay... so I started to make the layered piece of paper... and I say paper as that is what I used... no tag... not really sure yet what I was

going to do... but no tag... I have too many and need to create something else...  

I have to add that I am sitting in my studio smelling these wonderful roses and creating my layered piece of paper... and all I could think of was roses and butterflies... as the butterflies are flying all around in the front yard...  and a couple of bees are trying to come in the French doors... LOL.. don't worry they are only mason bees... not the kind that are interested in humans... they love WOOD...  

So here is my finished book... I decided to create a cover for an existing THOUGHTS journal... where I write down thoughts or sayings that I love...it needed a cover and so it is now done...  

 ALSO.. the paper that I used for the actual cover... yes you guessed it... a piece of paper that I created by cleaning up my work sheet!!!  What else... look at all the magnificent colors on the paper... and then I added the piece that  I created for the challenge... today...  

Oh yeah.... I also had to make a few roses... using the Pine cone template of Tim's   to make these great little roses...  the leaves on the cover are leaves from  Pretties by Bonnie newest collection of flowers called Garden Patch.    

 You know so many times we are so very critical of things we make and create... I have to say this because we often say that a real rose is all one color... when in reality it is NOT... here is a picture of one of my pretty roses up close and real personal... and if you look closely, you will see all the colors in it... and the dark areas, and light areas as well..   so when creating a flower allow other colors to get onto your flowers... it will look a little more natural...   Mine are all multi-colored roses... as they were made on a worksheet that was NOT CLEANED prior to making them... LOL... I love it...  

 As you can see... there are light areas as well as other colors in all my roses...  and also my leaves...  


I did use my Distress markers on my leaves...  I have colored so many leaves that my green markers are starting to need more inks...  so I just ordered them... waiting for my new ones to arrive...  I have to say that quite a few girls used them last week in a class and also a few others in between.. so that is okay.. they were used well.. and loved by all.. 

Finally you get to see my piece for the challenge up close...  

I used the Butterfly border die and created my own mask with some plastic from a piece of plastic that I have reused...  LOVE IT  when I can do that... 

I have been playing with alcohols all week long... and having fun with tons of plastics... so I am having fun in so many ways...   

I also used a few different stamps of Tims too...  and then cut out some butterflies and used some Liquid Pearls on them... and there you have it...  My Thoughts  cover... and also a few roses...  and a layered piece of paper...  all I have to say made from pieces of paper that I have created with cleaning up things...  even the roses...  I try really hard no to throw paper pieces away... and to use as much of a sheet as possible...  LOL... now to figure out what to do with all the bins of paper... ???? Do you have any ideas...

Believe in YOURSELF

Another Journal page... done on April 11th...  a little late to be showing it... but I get all kind of backed up with things to share...  

This page was inspired on a recent trip into Asheville to do our food shopping... we always go to a few of the really unique stores in the area... and this particular day we went into the really wild boutique that had a lot of hand made fashions that had been made from hand made fabrics... right up my alley... so I had a wonderful time looking at all the designs and colors... wild to say the least... I made a mental note of so many... and will try to incorporate them into clothes I make for me... and also for quilt squares... so much to do in so little time... ugh... a huge problem for me these days...  

Anyway... a fun and wonderful day Glenn and I had...  he even got two pairs of boots... something that doesn't happen to often.. he doesn't like to buy...so glad he got some!!!

Chocolate ?????

 I just had to put this into my journal... I had just added this flower to my newest collection of flowers on Pretties by Bonnie, and wanted to share it with ya'll.... I love it... and the colors... of course it is inspired by the Ranger colors of Dyan Reaveley's Dylusions... I love them...  they are so very bright and colorful... I think that is the THEME for SIMON SAYS STAMP AND SHOW.... right???? Of course it is... so here is another entry for me... love it... 
 

 So I sprayed my paper with them... did a little stencil work... or play as the case may be... and then added my thoughts of the moment!!!  With Chocolate... and  then added my new flower... .a couple of snails... love them... they are so cute... 

and added a little mark making.... and some more doodling....  of course I love to doodle... so that is a natural for me...

The 10th day of April... that is when I did this page in my journal... just wanted to share a fun time with you all...

I love doing that...  

These poppies will be available soon over at my digital store..   I have a lot of other flowers... but does anyone ever have enough... we always seem to need more... that is why I love digitals more than ever... Number one... you can store them in your computer... and Number two... you can make them anysize you desire!!!  That is the best for me...  I love things all different sizes...  they have to be just right... sometimes I just don't have the right size stamp... but I can generally always make my digital fit the need...  leaves too... love them too...  

I used Gelatos for the background... I love the watercolor effect of this one...

Kre8tive kits has a White on White card kit.. and Emlie wanted to make this for a special friend's wedding...  I would love to have received a card like this... what a special gift... for a special friend...  

The colors of the wedding are Black and white... so the card is done in the wedding colors...  on the inside of the right panel, Emlie had all her friends sign the card...  which is so very wonderful... what a GREAT friend she must be...  making this special card and then allowing others to sign it... so sweet Emlie... you are special that is for sure...
