Special Folds

I love making cards... duh... and I love making different ones... duh... and the more I make the more I want to make different ones...  make any sense to you??? I know you are most likely like that too... right???

Well... I wanted to share a few here with you...

Making a piece of paper that is punched and then you fold it to create a special place to glue a medallion... love it...  I also added a few VERY SPECIAL flowers that my dear friend Deana Barr made for me...  Don't worry Deana, I didn't glue these down...  they are double sided taped and that way the person that  receives this special card can use them on a blouse... although they might never get to anyone else... they might end up on mine... LOL..

adding little pearls is also an eye catcher...

Pleating of paper... a special fold... and then adding a little folded tea bag on each fold... wow... special... this paper also was given to me as a challenge by one of my friends and students... Sheila... thanks again Sheila... loved doing this one...

I love making this style of card from the first moment I saw it some 8 years ago... love it... never fails to amuse me in so many ways... what to put where... how many layers, etc etc...  you can really spend hours and hours on this one...

So this time I added a lot of medallions... small, half ones, only tea bags folded etc. etc... the following pictures will show you all the special areas...

enjoy...

I hope that again you have enjoyed viewing these cards... I still have many more to share with you... I told you I love to make cards... and I also sell them... so if you are interested in any ... please let me know... some I will not sell... but 99% I will...

have a super wonderful day and enjoy it all...  have a great week-end too...  create something for a loved one...

Simple Layers

I call this simple layering... as it is just a few layers...  or nothing really FANCY...  LOL... all cards are fancy when you personally make them... so I hope that you understand where I am coming from with this statement...

I think that you will be able to see what I mean by simple... I made a Martha Stewart background... so many people have asked me how to do this... in the original box that your punch came in, there was a piece of paper that did explain how to use these punches... and like so many... I also threw it out... I didn't need directions for how to punch... I had tons of punches... BUT I came to realize that the directions had the sizes of paper I  could use for these special punches...  so you need to cut the paper to the size you want to punch and then you can start to make your layers...  I simply put a vintage post card with a few tea bags folded on the side...  with of course a ribbon that was dyed by hand...

Okay.. the ribbon... you can buy that by searching for it on line...  it is $9.00 for a spool of 100 YARDS,.. and then you spritz it with inks.... how easy can that be... the hardest part is waiting for it to dry...LOL... you want to use it now... use a heat gun or hair dryer to LIGHTLY dry it...  it is rayon... be  careful  not to burn it...

Another VERY simple card...

This is also simple... I simply cleaned up my work space... a little of this and that can make a card... organize it by putting it onto a MS background...  what fun.. the snail is a Zen tangle that I drew and copied many times... colored and cut out... what fun you can have... add your own personal touches every where you can...
The roses... I used Tim Holtz's pine cone die cut... and relaxed the whole thing and spritzed different colors on it... voila... and now you have a rose...

A close up of the medallion...

I have this card in this section, as I wanted to show you that by using a piece of scrapbook paper you can make a very nice background too...  and then add a spellbinder piece... and a medallion and you have a card...  yipppppeeee do... Love it...  of course some dyed ribbon..

Hope that you have enjoyed  these... and thanks so very much for stopping by for a visit...  love having you visit me... leave me some words too... thanks...

Have a special nice day... enjoy the weather no matter it is in your area.. and create something special too...

Layers and shapes...

Okay... you have to remember that I am trying to play catch up and show you some of the cards I  have made over the last few months here...

A Valentine special...  hearts galore...
Punches and papers and stamps.. what would my life be with out them... still very artsie... that is for sure...
even the stamps are layered... and the shapes are different...  6 layers on this card... count them...

The lacy border is punched from the original card...

As you can see here... the border on the front of the card...  I wanted to show you the inside too..  another layered medallion and a strip of paper that in real life you see thru the punching on the border...  just another LAYERED card...

I had a piece of metallic paper on my inking area... and so it got inked and then I ran it thru my big shot/cuttlebug... and embossed it... and lightly sanded off the edges... *(have to be careful about sanding the metal... you don't need that in your body... )  that was cut into three strips and evenly put on to the layer underneath... which was a Martha Stewart corner border punched piece...

On top of all that ... a spellbinder fancy square and then a medallion...  ribbon is all around.. with bows and ties...  layered plus... but only 5 layers on this one...

I would have to call this a simple layered one... but the layer under the medallion is a printed piece of paper... so I cut it out as a layer...  this card is 5.5 X 8.... my largest size card... I don't make that many this size... too much to send in the mail..

Hope you have enjoyed this.. and see you tomorrow... with more cards...

THANKS so very much for stopping by for a visit... leave a comment now and then too... I will try and answer them all... thanks...

A card of love to a DEAR FRIEND

When you have a friend... does it mean you have to know them face to face...???? Or can they be a friend whom you have met thru the internet and shared life time experiences with???  Well Penny Wessenauer is one of these friends in my life... she is always so very willing to share and give to all...  a true person in so many ways... and I have never met her or her lovely husband Don... but both are so very wonderful people.   I wrote to Penny about a card I had seen on Facebook... this was prior to me getting High speed internet service... and I loved it... Penny sent me a card, because I was unable to sign into Yahoo and join a swap...  so I sent her one back...  this is the card I sent to Penny... my dear FRIEND...  thanks again PENNY for being YOU...

This is the front of the card that I sent to Penny...  as you can see it is a gate card with a panel on the left side of it...  and I put a medallion on the center circle...  yes... there is more on the inside... this card is for PENNY...  do you think it would be bare???

Here is a close up of the medallion...

When you start to open the card.. you will see on the left panel another medallion inside a specially folded square...  such fun... with a little bird in a nest...  the violets are in the center of the card...

Here is a close up of the medallion...

In the center of the card thee is a vintage clip art... and a zen tangled snail... and of course a little daddy bird..  looking for snacks for the mommy bird...  Over on the right you will see the right hand panel... with the little Faerie of the flowers...  so sweet...

I know that Penny loved this card... and hope you do too...  Hope that Penny will send me the link to the tea bag folding group.. so I can rejoin the group...  would love to join... and do some swaps... can't find it on yahoo...  ???

Well hope you enjoyed this card.. and have a wonderfully happy day... thanks also for stopping by for a visit and hope to see you tomorrow...

Gate Cards

I love making gate cards... they add a different dimension before you even get started with the rest of the card...  never made one???  better try making at least one...  they are fun.

Tomorrow I will show you a different style gate card... so please make sure you come back tomorrow too... LOL... getta get you hooked on visiting here every day...  I love your visits... thanks always for stopping by...

Okay.. here are some gate cards...

Okay... so these are a little bit different than the average gate folded card... but hey... I am different anyway... right???  I cut a circle in the middle of the gate fold, to put a medallion there... what fun... love it...

Also a challenge at this time in my life... doing something a little bit different keeps me on my toes all the time...

A gate folded card is simply folded differently...  take a piece of paper... lets say 12 x 6... and with your score board score at 3 and 9 inches...  or make a score mark in that area using a ruler...  fold into the center... a gate card has now been created by YOU...  EASY...

The center of the card then needs to be decorated.. have fun... here I used a piece of tea bag tile paper, created with using a half inch tile... really makes a nice background paper... you can create this with any of my tea bag tile kits... using the tile making program...  check it out on the medallion art blog... (to find that... scroll down on the right hand side of this blog and you will see the medallion art tag... click on it... another whole world of stuff)

A Valentine card for my special Valentine...

Inside medallion

Did you enjoy this... are you going to make a gate card... hope you will... even if you have made tons of them... make another one... and try and make a circle that will let you see thru to something else... what fun for the person that receives this card...

Love life to the fullest...
Thanks for stopping by for a visit...

Easter is on the WAY...

I am trying to gather my cards that I have created and get them posted so that I can share them with ya'll....  so please be patient with me... LOL...

Here are a few Easter Cards that I have made...  Of course they have medallions on them... as they were samples for classes in Tea Bag Medallion making... we have lots of creative fun in these classes...  if you are local and want to join a group... please call me... or write to me...  thanks...

Sop here are a few of the cards...

This is the front of the card... and I wanted it to be an open card... with a window.... SPRING time you open up the house... let the fresh air in... yeah...

Anyway... the medallion is around the edge of the window.. and the window is 'covered' with a piece of vellum that I ran thru a cuddlebug folder Dotted Swiss... or Swiss Dot..??

Behind it is another dry embossed folder ... I love white as a background.. makes a really nice background to show things OFF...

A little bit closer...  there is also a Spellbinder medallion behind in a moss green....  just a little touch of color...  makes it look more complete...

When you open this up... you see this on the inside of the 'window'
I love adding all this dimension...  just LOVE IT...

When you open the card you still have a lot of place to write your message to the person you are sending this too...

Using the same BUNNY... I  created this card...  the back ground paper is paper I made using inks of all kinds, stencils, lace done on the top edge of the card... and then punching and hand dyed ribbon... and then the MEDALLION...  love it...

Oh yes... floating a medallion in a window... what fun...
With all the glories of flowers, ribbons and a charming bunny bringing a gift of Pussy Willows...  how SPRING is that...

Check out the floating medallion...

When you are in the mood to do something... you do it... you might not use it until a later date... but when I NEED to make PAPER... I get out my inks, paints, stencils and everything I need and CREATE....

So I was in the mood to make paper.. and made about 15 or so pieces of 8X11 pieces...  this background is one of them... I only used a small part here... and will use the rest on another card...  a little dry embossing and some spellbinders and clip art... and you have a CARD....

The Leaf stamp... I made using an eraser...  love my leaf stamps.. .I must have at least 6 all different ones...  you never know what size you might need...  right???

Oh what could be more perfect in my world than using purple and a dragon fly????  LOVIN IT ....

Trying new and different type of cards is a passion of mine too...  variety is the spice of life...

When you open this card... you can see more love pouring into the experience...

Open all the way... you even see the pocket with a special message and maybe even a gift of more love...

Pocket close up

Looks like a pretty card... but then when you open it up...

WOW...  really a fun card.... all in the folds... and of course colors...  and the medallion also adds to the WOW in my opinion...

Love these cards... and hope that you do too..

One last one to share with you...

Almost forgot..
Spring has sprung here... in fact it is hot out... in the high 70's... and going up as we speak... another hot day...  flowers are blooming, dogwood, pink and white.. the azaleas in our yard a little stunted at this time...  we went from COLD to HOT... in a matter of a few hours...  climate change??? Naaaaaa...

This card is so spring like...  had to share it...  with the little bird nesting and the daddy bird bringing food to the mommy...  I think of my son and his wife... having a baby and a very special time in their life....

Just wanted to share these with you and hope that you enjoy them...  have a super nice day...  enjoy every second of it...

Thanks for stopping by for a visit...

Flip card made with Spellbinders

I love making flip cards.. BUT I don't like the normal way of  making them with a pencil ruler, xacto knife, etc... and then it doesn't look quite right etc...  I went onto Pinterest and looked high and low for this technique... I found enough information to create this one...

(Side note... I have been on dial up for over 11 years... totally frustrated and now I have a higher speed and LOVE IT...  so I am getting use to all the new things..  not totally sure of how to use some of these things... but having FUN!)

So this is my first flip card using a spelldinder... Love it.. within a few seconds the card is made... and then you have the fun of decorating it...  yikes ... what fun..

This is K&co paper and it is really pretty here... but I will use double sided paper the next time... will be a lot easier... but hey.. live and learn...  that is why we are all learning about the how to do's.... and loving it too...

Thanks for stopping by for a visit and see you soon...

I have to tell you that I love this flower picture..  a friend gave me a pretty card and it was so lovely that I created these tiles from it, and also used the print..  so very sweet and delicate...  this card is a half gated card... and I used all kinds of punches to create it...

The gals in the Tea Bag Group love the flowers too... and loved creating one similar to this... and will be excited to send it to a loved one...

Hope you have enjoyed your visit here today.. .and would love to hear from you in comments...  thanks for your visit... See you soon...

Love is in the air...

Love is in the air... and hopefully SPRING too...

Spring should be here soon..

This card was really a challenge for me.. not colors that I usually use, multi layers of colors and prints, and all kinds of things different than I usually use...  but I have to try things right???

All of these things also were on the work table... and I wanted to make a CARD... NOW... and didn't want to get up to get things...  lazy crazy day for me when I created this card...

Anyway... I found these really neat dragonflies at the dollar store... three in a package.. only a $1.00... yikes I bought a lot of them... so get use to seeing them on cards.. LOL...

hope you have a wonderfully fun day... exciting and creative in all ways...

See you tomorrow ...

Thanks for stopping by for a visit...

Purple Diamonds

Purple Diamonds is the name of this card...
Why???

Well I used a few stencils after making the color on the paper... and then used some Liquid pearls all around the edges of each purple diamond... love the effects of this...

Of course the bird motif is carried out in the edge in which I used Martha Stewarts corner border punches...  and of course the little one that is nested in the Tea Bag wreath...

I also love making ribbons to match my papers... when I finish making the paper, and it looks just the way I want it to... I then clean up my ink colors on my work mat with a piece of seam binding... works out perfect for me...  LOL... love it when a plan comes together...

Here's a view of the wreath and the bird up closer...  I also love the tile I used in this particular fold...  so very delicate...

Hope that you enjoyed this card today...

Have a great day.. and maybe I will see you over the week-end...  busy times ahead with gardens going in... chickens going from pasture into the freezer... and also seeds getting ordered for more production this year...  since we are seed savers we always always have seeds to start our gardens with...  such a great thing...

Thanks for stopping by for a visit... and see you soon...
Please leave me a comment... I love reading and answering them...
