Top Talent Designer for Our CREATIVE CORNER

I have been asked to be the Top Talent  Designer
 for
OUR CREATIVE CORNER...
and I am delighted to be here...
TOTALLY honored and delighted...

I have to tell you that I really felt that I had to step up to the plate and CREATE something
REALLY, REALLY SPECIAL for this Group..
They are all so very talented and gifted people...

I put on my thinking cap and had to remove it a few times... put it back on and continue to think for another week...
made lists of things that I would do....
AND
finally it hit me...

So many times I see things that I really want to do.. .but will not take the time to create them... or play with them...  I also wanted to carry on the theme of the CROW a little bit more...
the Crow has really come into my life,
and I have been playing with it a lot...
but needed to really focus on it..

I love to make rubber stamps... but never take the
REAL QUALITY
time to play with something special...

So I combined all these and came up with a project...

My project is three fold...
with many folds for those that know me...
I am a 'little bit'
obsessive and compulsive (LOL)
about all that I want to do,
all that I do...
and all that  I talk and show...

So I am going to show you as easily as I can...
if you want to see more of a particular section.. there will be LOTS more pictures... just look for the place to click and it will wisk you off to that location...
I have spent over 5 weeks doing this single project... and done no other challenges... or anything else..  for that matter...  my sweet hubby has been very loving and patient... now I must attend to some things like making his fall and winter shirts... that should have been done a long time ago.. LOL... but playing with paper is so very much fun...

So here it is...

This is a cubbie box, made with much love for the subject of NATURE ...
The  cubbie box is filled with six sections dedicated to nature of all kinds... and the crow is the main subject here...
as I have needed to continue with my CROW - ness...
(but I have not forgotten what season it is...
or time of the year... as my art flows with that all the time.)

ALSO

I wanted a Rubber stamp that would move...
and I wanted a CROW that would look like he/she is
taking off,
Landing,
Flying,
wings going with the speed of a crow...
and
floating on the air waves of life...
and
sitting on a branch,
meditating it's next move in life....
you know...
all  the CROW moves and things that a crow does
in the course of a day...

I wanted my crow to be as real as possible...

view the stamps here...

 so I made a stamp...
and then I made pages  to show the stamp in action...
and then I got a little carried away...
but I had so very much fun... and totally enjoyed
not only making the stamps, the pages and the whole project.
but now I have a whole box of new stamps...

I also have a couple of other projects from other times that are sort of similar to this one...  and have also made a separate section so you can see those projects too...
You will see them below...

I really hope you will grab a cup of your favorite and
view all the things I have put onto the page for you to view...

There is a lot to see on here...
I have taken over 800 pictures and have most of them on this blog for you to see...  well I didnt' quite know how to do that... so I had to build a few more blogs  and link pages to them... ... LOL.. what a project... I am trying to learn to do things a little bit simpler... but haven't mastered it yet... LOL.. don't think I ever will?????

For those that want to see the details you can click and see them... the people that don't, can speed read and see a project that is sort of different... LOL.  all depends on what YOU want to see here...

So my project is this...

A box of six sections,
filled with all kinds of things that I wanted to create,
all oriented to different things I wanted to do...
gave me no theme...
just told me to CREATE what ever I desired...
so I went WILD...
I have added all kinds of click here's as you can see all the additional pictures that way...
Please if something doesn't click thru PLEASE let me know...

To see how the box was made... click here...

Nature

Crows are amazingly wonderful...
and I know you will think so too, by the end of this.
Or at least I hope you will...

There are six sections in the cubbie box...
Each section has a letter...

Picture of the  cubbie box in progress... just the sections...
with nothing in them..

Ooops... I started to get a little carried away...
oh what fun I was having...

Looking at the finished sections...
now to decorate the CUBBIE BOX... MORE FUN...

 NATURE

Each section has a
Front cover... which has a
picture that is a pocket as well...
and then inside of the section there are
two more pages...
Now some of those pages
open... and open again and again... that is where you will be able to click to view all these additional pictures...

Here are the pages..

Letter N

Front of N Section

Cover picture and tag
Each cover picture was made with many different color inks and also torn pieces of paper to create the mountains, moon and different skies...

And the words in the background...
well crows are wordy birds...
 haven't you ever noticed...
they are always talking...
cau- cau in the trees...
talking and telling stories about what they see on the ground... what the humans are doing...
how can we get some of that good watermelon???
you know the routine...
CROWS BEING CROWS

If you have viewed the rubberstamps,
you know that I made the crow stamp and the pods...

By moving the legs in different positions you get the movement of the bird... love it...  he is landing on the pumpkin here...

STORY LINE

Oh Mr. Crow... PLEASE don't peck at all the pumpkins...
Eat and enjoy one whole one...
not a little from each of them...
just to realize that they are not what you really want to eat...
Are you looking for our WATERMELON...
it is all done with for the season...
Try again next year...
and again...
please only eat ONE...
and don't peck at them all..

Thank You Mr. Crow...
Oh yes...
how old are you????
Oh... only a few years old..
be off then
to find a mate for life...
and don't bother our gardens now...

How many times do you see things that others have made and want to make it...  I love the charms that
from Snapping Monsters
made a long time ago..
I loved them...
and said I wanted to make them...
how many times have you said that???
and how many times have you done it...
That is what I am doing here...
all those special things..
that I wanted to do...
and never found the time...
Well the time is NOW and HERE...

(p.s. if you make a folder on your hard drive you can do a right click and save the picture of what you want to make... and will have a record of all the things you want to do..  )

Thanks Andrea...
I used a piece of copper wire and bent it and then attached a piece of a vintage dictionary page to the back of the wire...
I used ... glossy accents.. what else... in fact I used three bottles on this project!!!!  Go figure...  love the stuff...

Again... how many sayings do you find that you love
and never use...
this to me was all about the CROW...
And it is on the back of the tag...
that of course is in the picture pocket...

BALANCE
is something that in
art you always try to obtain...

but in life...
are you walking in BALANCE
with yourself and others???
A must do at this time...
living as one with all...
BALANCE in all things...

When you open the section... these are the two pages...

Left Side
Sunflower

I was not aware that this challenge was going to be RUST-IC
so when I did this it was again from intuitiveness and love for trying something new to me...
I rusted the paper and the metal...

Crow with Oak leaf.. and a surprise.
As both of these pages have insides to them...
so very much fun...

STORY LINE

Mr. Crow was in the garden and viewing the sunflowers and came across a little pack of tiny birds..  He realized that he really didn't have any friends that we could talk too...

So Mr. Crow, who is really a very young bird, went to the head of the FLOCK of CROWS... and needed to find out some answers to his problems in life...

The Wise One tried to answer all his questions...
So very typical of the young ones...
but so very necessary for them to get the bigger picture of life...
So many humans don't take the time to understand the old ways... they just think the new ways are the answer.

Oh well, thought the Wise One...
I will be able to see this one first hand..
this young one is a relative and will be around for a while yet.

Letter A

Front of Section A
I didn't have the A from the letter set...
so I always use other letters as a substitute...
this time a letter V
sort of an A with out the line ...
sorta anyway... right???

My crow is flying...  notice his wings..
more pictures below...

he is gliding thru the air...
legs up and wings resting
and
going with the flow as they say...

I cut a lot of the crows out...
as I wanted them to be on top of the page..
not part of it...
but standing out...
I popped the top wing too..
a little foam... works wonders.

Many different stamps used to create a small picture...
it is about 4X6 inches...

I went thru piles of stickers...
Do you have all those stickers that you will never use...
Donate them to a worthy cause...
and save the ones you need future use...
I saved WORD stickers...
and used a few in this project.

CROWS

Crows range from small pigeon size

to a Common raven size.

Their lifespan is up to

about 21 years…

The American Crow is about

 100 -150 CM in wingspan

Now… be friends with the CROW…

as they can remember your face

and they do conspire with each other…

and also tell generation to generation

about YOU…

they have a very good memory

Truth...  not fiction...
Amazingly smart animals...

Inside of section A

check out how I made the Yo Yo's...

I also joined in with another frame that was made from paper and rusted...  my fiber was painted with copper and turquoise added to make the patina look..  same with the leaf.

Astrid,   this is your technique that I love...
used it on my clock ...
and now on burlap...
thanks so very much...
you are a true artist..
a good friend,
and I love your work...  THANKS

To see these pages being made and a little bit closer..

STORY LINE

Well the young Mr. Crow,
started out on his JOURNEY
he went to all kinds of places where things seemed to be all in a jumbled up mess...

But when looking he saw a lot of
PEACE and LOVE
and realized that the small birds were just part of  the nature around him that the WISE ONE was talking about...
He didn't have to be part of them...
but he needed to RESPECT THEM....
and to love all of nature...
not just part of it.

He was seeing things with different eyes...
and he loved it all
What a wonderful PLACE this was...
He was taking FLIGHT
and was totally enjoying his JOURNEY.

What a wonderful Gift he had given himself...

Letter T

The Letter T
Front section....
I hope you will notice things about each of these pictures...
I have tried to take good pictures to show you all kinds of things...
in this picture.. I put a slit in the picture and ran the ribbon from the center to the edge...  and tied it...  I have to do things a little bit different or it gets BORING...

Also Mr. Crow... is flying...  his wings go up and down...  you can make them go in any direction prior to gluing them down..

Inside section of T
These two pages are some of my favorites...
oh hey...
I just lied...
they are really all my favorites...
I have a hard time with this one...
I had so very much fun.

check out the inside of the right page...
I did all the art work in this project...
and different pieces are created
with a multitude of techniques
This crow I love..
he is really my favorite ones...
with the mushroom...
My husband is starting to grow mushrooms...
so I added good energy here
for the success of all our mushrooms
to grow into healthy ones.
love it...

This page was a mistake paper...
and it all smeared..
so it had some textures paste on it...
 I left it to dry
and to it was going to go into the 'USE LATER PILE'
BUT THEN
I needed something to draw my tree on...
guess what happened...
LOL..

The india ink on the brush ran in all kinds of funny ways... and made great branches...  it had a mind of it's own...
Mrs. Crow is sitting and enjoying the two little birds out playing... and ready to be mature birds on their own...
I call this page the empty nester...
LOL..
GREAT time when they are out...
if you are a human...
Birds keep on having more and more...
oh well...
we won't go there, NOW...

This Crow I drew and painted with some watercolors..
some inks,
some pens,
some of everything on my media workspace.
The background was made with tissue paper and sprays...
and the page opens...
check it out...

STORY LINE

So many wonderful things to see all over the place...
There is a Momma Crow with here little ones...
talking them out for a flying lesson...
She is an older crow...s
he started to have little ones this year
after she mated with the CROW she loved...

Such a beautiful expression of LOVE...
thought Mr. Crow.....
But you know,
I wonder if and how I will ever have young ones...
how does this happen...

I better go back and see what the WISE ONE has to say about this...

He is not there...
but there is another WISE ONE
called the King of all Kings...
and he is one powerful CROW...
He is old and wears a CROWN of Gold upon his head...
he is Royalty in the purest sense of the word...

Wow..
his words are powerful...
I will take them into my knowingness and proceed with life.
I feel he is a very knowing CROW...

Letter U

The Letter U
Front Section

Mr. Crow is sitting watching other crows...
they like to roost together for protection from the dreaded owls...
Crows like to roost where they feel protected and generally it is where owls will not go... generally into cities or built up areas...

There are fewer words here...
as they are starting to quiet down for the night
Crows love to be together at times like this.

Mr. Crows wings are down, as is his tail...  don't forget all these are separate stamps so that you can make the CROW look like he is really alive...

I love dried grasses
and pods
and flowers...

So I had to have a POD stamp...
a must have now kind of thing...

DETERMINATION
Why try so hard to fit in...
When you were BORN to stand out...

Saw this and had to use this...
a reminder of why I like to be certain ways,
live a different way...
enjoy life maybe a little bit different and LIVE to be ME!!!

Inside pages... of this section...

I used three different pieces of specially created papers...
I have been saving...
do you have personal stashes that you visit to just drool over...
that is where these papers were ...
they are very special to me...
and
I didn't want to hide the papers,
and never quite found a way to use them...
until NOW with this page...

So I broke down and used them...

All these birds are different...
 the position of their bodies,
the legs on some... not on others...
wing positions tell a lot about a bird...
what the are going to do...
or saying...

AND SO
SHE DECIDED
SHE WOULD BE A CROW
FOR THE REST OF HER LIFE

Loved this... had to use it...
found it on line somewhere???

Her friends looking on...
joining in on the joyous occasion

The leaves are also a stamp...
you will see it also in the stamp area...

For more pictures on these pages..

STORY LINE

So I took the advice of the KING of ALL CROWS
and
played for a year or two...
I don't understand time like others...
 but I became an adult...
I had learned all kinds of games
and understood life a little better...

And then it happened...
I saw her fly by on her
JOURNEY of LIFE
and fell in LOVE with her...

I brought her my LOVE
and asked her to be mine...
She knew so much more than I did...
she was so mature...

You see I am about 4 and half years old...
she is only 3...
but she is so mature, she is SUPER.

She said she would be mine for ever...
and so she decided to be a CROW
For the REST of her LIFE...

Letter R

The Letter R
Section

Mr. Crow is flying...
or maybe it is Mrs Crow...
They all look alike to us... a huge black bird...
with feathers and a beak...
But they can tell us all apart...
they have huge memories of people...
so please be nice to crows...
This is what I am learning...
as we have had huge problems with crows
and our gardens...
I send them love now all the time...
and to be honest...
they have left the gardens alone this season...

One town in the US had a huge population of crows every year... and they decided to start to kill them... they had over 60,000 of the birds..
anyway..
on the day they decided this,
all  the people were armed with guns to kill the crows
and  when the day was over....
only one crow was killed...
that is all it takes...
they remember and they have never been back there again...
they FLY high over that area...
telling all future generations about this happening also...
true happening.

AMAZING BIRDS...

These  two pages, as seen
are wonderfully exciting...
BUT then
each page has hidden sections that
OPEN...
and Open again
and again...

A funny story about this tag is also found here...
I used it prior on Sunday Stampers and also on Simon Says...
in the year 2010  and then again this year...
as did the two challenge suggestions...
even though I didn't enter this...
I did do the challenges...
had to bring it around...

In this section I used a lot of my vintage dictionary pages...
made a small filing folding...
love it...

STORY LINE

There is so much to see in this life that we are living together...
I don't do as much as she does...
She does scrapbooking
and save the pictures of all the young ones around us.

We travel on our JOUNREY OF LIFE
and see all kinds of places that are wonderfully exciting.
The mountains and the oceans...
and we love it all...

Life is GRAND...
just as the older ones have told me...

Letter E

The Letter E....
The last section in the box...

MOMENTS...
When a project like this ends..
I am glad that it is finished...
and on time...
as I still had to take all the pictures
and then edit and post on this blog...
and all the others that I created...
LOL...
glad we get to have 100 blogs free...
I just might hit that...

But when it is all over and actually finished...
I still can add more if I needed to ...
as I loved working on this project
and really could add more things...

I did limit myself...
and made the box only an inch and a half larger than needed to be... and it is filled to the brim...
I do want to add a few other things to this whole project that I had made during this fall season that I love also...
maybe  I Will..
if there is any room left...

MOMENTS
a great stamp

Notice that Mr. Crow is talking to himself at this point...

Mr. Crow is flying a long distance...

I happen to be madly in LOVE
with this bright pink color for FALL...
when I add the yellows, oranges, reds, and even a little olive green they all seem to sing the highest note on the scale...
I love it...
Music enters my mind all the time as I create.
Do you allow the music to get higher at times???
SURE...
Enjoy it all...

It is AWESOME

So I had to make these two leaves stand out... as this is the last page and also a stand out page...

Pickled Raspberry ...
Love the color... no matter what the name...

The center pages...

Winter is coming...
it is getting colder as each day passes...

Icy weather...  (cold blue and whites... )
a little tangling, and also a little metal work...
I think that Vintage Journey has a challenge on going at this time with metals...

This page had so many things that I wanted to do...

An oval shadow box...
yikes...
I did it...
and also a secret area all around the box...
you have to click here to see all the wonders of that...

Mrs. Crow also is looking into the oval shadow box
and seeing the future...
LOL..
she sees SPRING coming soon...
 only a few months away...
we always want what is on the other side of the fence...
dont' we...???

To see all the makings of this page... click here.

STORY LINE

So Mr. and Mrs. Crow spend many happy years together and travel to a lot of different places...
Having many clutches of babies..
sometimes two groups a year...
she is collecting leaves now to put over  clutch of babies,
as the weather is getting colder...
and she hopes to keep them warm
so that they live thru the colder weather.

The seasons pass and life goes on for them...

They are happy in their own world...
and live a strong life...

ARE YOU???

Are you living your life to the fullest now???
Walk in Balance
and enjoy the WALK...

Well.. I do hope that you have enjoyed this...
I certainly had a lot of fun making it...
and sharing it with you..

Some of the Challenges that I have linked to this post are:

Each one of the above links are places that I regularly display my art work.
I love them all... a
nd have bits and pieces of their challenges in this art project...
I use these challenges as bits of my inspirational PUSH...
THANK YOU deeply to all the challenges
and the
DESIGN TEAMS...

I don't think sometimes you know how much you help us all..
Thanks for all that you do and create...

I also have a few other things to share on stamping...

A book that I made for my husbands birthday...
all about leaves...

Stamping is a process...
When I first saw a rubber stamp,
my first impression was not a good one...
I didn't understand why anyone would want to use the same object over and  over to create art...???
Of course that was over 30 years ago...
things in my life have changed,
as has my mind...
and I love using rubber stamps for all kinds of ART...
Hope this will inspire you to CREATE some stamps for yourself...
and I would love to see them.
Sharing is GREAT..
and also LOVE is too..

Thanks for stopping by and for all the SWEET and Generous comments you all leave...

Have a SUPER GREAT DAY...

Love, Light and Peace...Bonnie

  1. Servus, Bonnie,

I just hopped over from your wonderful post as our GD at Our Creative Corner, because I wanted to see every tiny detail of your incredibly magical and enchanting project!

I love crows too (there are a lot of them around here and sometimes I help them crack open their walnuts...sometimes they try to fool my dog and make her chase them....they really interact with us and we meet them on our walks every day. I love these intelligent birds and their magic).

Your cubbie project is so gobsmackingly beautiful and done with such a lot of love, thought and labour. Looking at it and learning about the ideas behind every detail added is like looking right into the artists soul. As true art is all about being personnal and showing one's soul to the world, I want to thank you so much for your courage and all the energy that comes with your art.

It's so inspiring and "true". And it definitely is the love that shines through with every tiny detail on your pieces. I can see it and feel it. Your art reaches out and touches deeply.

    Thanks for that.
Big hug and lots of love,

    Claudia x

  2. Well Bonnie, I'm really not sure what to say here. This might actually be the most impressive project that I have ever seen in my life! I am literally without words! Now I understand why you spent so long working on it!

I think I will spend the next few days coming back here and looking at the pictures over and over again. It's not just a work of art, but a wonderful story told with heart and soul.

All the many elements...the crows, flowers and the wonderful bits of real nature like the bark and the acorns just keep my eyes and mind totally hypnotized! The pure wonder of it all, wow! I love the scenes that you made, your vision and story come to life with each and every detail! And not a piece of patterned paper in sight, I'm just so impressed!

You are truly an artist and an inspiration, my friend and I bow down to the master of all that is crafts! Extra big hugs :)

  3. Bonnie!!!! Words do not come to mind right now! Except 3 cups of coffee, and I still have not really taken the time necessary to drink this all in. You are such an exceptional person, in so many ways, and THIS is just the tip of the iceberg! This is all I have time to say now, but count on more:)! Love! Light and Peace to you!

  4. Wow, Bonnie! This is a massive project! It is really a book, inside a box, with lots of little books and chapters tucked inside. I can't imagine the amount of love and work your poured into this, and I'm sure at times you felt like your brain was going to explode with all the ideas you captured here. I love the positionable crow...he is fascinating and beautiful. Your color palette is gorgeous...autumn captured in a box. I've never seen anything like this before....and am at a loss for words. It is just so much to see and take in...it would take me days to see it all. You truly poured your creative soul into it, and it shows. Thanks for sharing this with us at Craft Hoarders Anonymous!

  12. OMG Bonnie!!! You've clearly worked so very hard on this incredible project and I think it's going to require several visits to take it all in. Having your personal stories alongside each section helps to bring them alive even more and I love how much care and attention to detail you've lavished on each one..
