Well where to really start...
Okay... I will start here...
Today is Sunday... and yesterday was SATURDAY... the day when Compendium of Curiosities Challenge is released... this is the 3rd one... and I will do a little copying and posting at this point... as I forget to list all the info I am suppose to list...
This week, we’re getting fancy with Tim’s beautiful
Faux Tea Rose Technique, which you’ll find on page 65 of
A Compendium of Curiosities, Vol. #3. Distressed flower lovers will go gaga over this one– the delicate, intricate design looks incredibly complicated, but thanks to Tim, it’s super easy!
Before you link up your own amazing creation, please be sure to review the
CC3C F.A.Q. for the rules of this challenge. There aren’t many, but the ones we do have are important! And, if you have questions that aren’t addressed, please leave a comment here and I’ll reply as soon as I’m able to.
This challenge is open to everyone, but you must work from your personal copy of
A Compendium of Curiosities, Vol. 3. We will not be posting technique instructions on our blogs, and our participants must not, either. We require this out of respect and appreciation for all the work that Tim Holtz invested in creating this book. Regrettably, we’ve had to unlink some wonderful entries that did not adhere to this rule, and we really hate doing that! If you don’t have a copy, you can
order one directly from Tim, who will autograph it for you!
With each challenge, the team and I will be selecting a “Curiosity Crew’s Choice” winner who will receive a fantastic collection of Tim’s products, courtesy of Tim himself and
Mario Rossi, his business manager (and an all-around wonderful person)! To be eligible to win this prize package, you must visit each of our team members’ blogs and leave a comment there. It’ll be fun, too– as you’ll see, these girls made serious crafty magic for this challenge! You can easily access their blogs by clicking on their project photos, and your comment on this post counts as your comment on my blog.
All our odd-numbered challenges are sponsored by
INSPIRATION EMPORIUM, one of my favorite online shops of ANY kind, run by some of my favorite people anywhere! Joy and the gang will award an incredibly generous FIFTY DOLLAR gift certificate to one lucky, randomly selected participant. All you need to do to be eligible is link your project here, and mention Inspiration Emporium in your blog post. You can also get 10% off any order with the code STUDIOL3.
Okay... that is direct from Linda ... so I have listed it all...
now back to my posting...
So Yesterday... I had a few friends over to share in the fun of creating FAUX ROSES... oh what a messy mess we made... and had lots of fun making roses... and all kinds of things... Marie and Susan both made tons of roses... and hopefully they will post them... Marie's were for a scrapbook page and Susan made a tag or two... and a card... for a wedding... very stunning too..
So here is my first of 4 projects...YES... I played for over 10 hours making roses, clean up a little, so I could see the work sheet and then create more... and kept on doing that all day long... what a fun time... Love doing that... and with two friends... what could be more perfect...
This is called ALL 3
As all 3 challenges are on this one piece..
The Marbling of paper, the glitter and now the ROSE...
anyway... I created the paper and then went onto stamping and gathering up all the 'things' that I wanted to use...
Well maybe use??? didn't like one thing... tossed it aside... and loved this and that... and then changed my mind three of four times etc etc etc.. you get the idea... you most likely have done this too...
Well then I wanted to create a frame for the eye chart ...and used a spellbinder and cut it out of metal... and of course used my alcohol inks to rust it up a bit...
I have to be honest... I have not used the Jute/twine...that much... but I do like it... and it just felt right on this piece...
This lace is some that I bought a long time ago as ANTIQUE lace... and that was over 45 years ago... so it is ANTIQUE... no matter what way you look at it... LOL.. The large Butterfly came off the Tissue Wrap Melange and I adhered it to cardstock so it would have a little stiffness to it... then I colored it... and put some rock candy glitter on it...
Susan had brought me a set of Tim Holtz stamps... that she had bought on sale... and they are some that I really love and wanted... So I put them to use right off the bat...
I love using the Tissue tape in fun places... and also used an enameled piece with some remnant rubs on it... love this... am going to have to get some more... as I know I will be using these a lot on projects.. love the clean crisp look of it..
Finally the ROSES... oh I have been making these for a long long time now... and I have to say that they are one of my very favorite flowers to teach and use on so very many projects... an all time favorite... So for me this challenge was not only to use the Faux Roses but to also use them in different ways than I have before...
Usually I use them on cards and boxes... so all these ways are new to me...
Prior to my friends arriving, my sweet hubby came in with this beautiful bouquet of flowers...
Not only are they mainly wild.. but they are all from our farm... he loves to grow roses... and these are all from ONE old time rose plant that still smells like a ROSE... and the color is so very magnificent... There is honey suckle, which smells divine and the whole studio smells like it now... and there is everything from Asparagus fern, daisies, (our wedding flower 45 this year???) and also some other fun things...
Thanks so very much Glenn for all your love that you always give me and share this Earth walk with... I love you dearly.
Okay.. now onto more ROSES... the paper ones...
Susan and Marie had forgotten their work sheets... so I gave them each some cardstock to color paper onto... to save my work table... LOL.. it is a mess anyway.. .but it does help a little bit...
Well after a few minutes I LOVED the ink on Marie's paper... and asked her if I could have it... and she said YES ... so I gave her a new piece of paper... and I cut the paper into two tags...
I loved the colors that were one it... a total of 6-7 different ones... all so very what I wanted to use... pinks (worn lipstick, Victorian Velvet ) yellows (squeezed Lemonade) , light oranges (manderian and also some Persimmon... ) , and a little bit of rusty hinge ... now dont' forget, I had to cut it up to get the best areas I wanted to use... I didn't add anything to the back... but the edges did get a little bit of vintage photo and Gathered twigs... LOL... love that brown... right Susan.. when all else fails... use BROWNS... LOL.. so very true..
My rose was made with pinks and over rode with Persimmon... LOVE that color ... so wild..
Since this was really my last project... I used up the last of my green paper that I used for leaves... and made a narrow band of punched paper at the bottom... add the birds and the cage... what fun also making dyed ribbons of your choice...
A perfect ROSE... even a little Vintage on the edges...
I LOVE this stamp of the CROW... it just has so very much personality... I had to have it... so it is NEw to me... I stamped him... and then fussy cut him out.. I wanted him/her to stand on something and really wasn't too sure what at that point...
My Roses and Buds were made... and then I again also used the other half of that paper from Marie's stamping on paper... I did add some words here and there... and also the swirls from another Tim stamp set... I also cut out some more leaves... I like to create them by coloring a piece of paper with all kinds of GREENS... and then adding some words, etc all over it.. then I hand cut out the size leaf I need for each flower...
I also created a double punched square for the main ROSE to sit upon it... so very regal is the ROSE... love it...
Oh onward... this is going to be the longest blog post I think I have ever written... it is LONG... still another project...
Actually the FIRST one that I did yesterday...
One of the newest sets of classes I will be offering this year will be on creating Fairy Houses and spaces... along with all the necessary things that Fairies need to use... like wind chimes, flowers, wheel barrows filled with flowers etc... etc... most will be made from items you have around your home... so it will be a combination type class... this is so very exciting to me on so many levels... anyway... here is one of the first fairy homes...
This little metal bird cage was picked up at Michaels a long time ago, by no less than Marie.. so she got a kick out of the fact that she had actually bought this over 5 years ago... and I was finally going to use it AGAIN for something...
I created over 12 different color roses for this... small, med and large... small buds and large buds... and tons of leaves... or branches... I think of them as fern type leaves... LOL.. and the DRAGONFLY on the top... Did you notice the little lantern... well even fairies need light... this one they will put Lightening bugs into.. to get a nice bright light...
I also added a few shells, One that I decorated with some gem stones... and then a small clear quartz crystal... Can you see the fairies in the back against the birch bark... my DIL brought me that bark... carried an armload of it for over a mile... Bless her for her persistence in bringing me this lovely GIFT... of sheet love. thanks so much Casey...
Another view of the top Roses...
And still another view...
Some of the buds get to be a little hard for me to create at times... as the paper should really be broken up a little more... I will have to work on that in the future..
Another view...
Still another view... and some thin bark amongst the flowers...
Sort of looking down on the top of the cage..
I love to also create fairy houses from painted rocks... so much fun when you find the right rock...
You can almost see the fairies on the inside of the cage... they can get out without any problem ... they are not locked in there... believe me.
a little bit closer...
Well that is finally the end of my story... hope that you have enjoyed this and it wasn't TOO long... but I do love to create and I do love to share all with you...
have a fun and GREAT Week-end.. and if you are traveling ... please be safe... and now I am waiting for the next CC3 challenge... bring it on... love these challenges...
thanks for all the comments and also for stopping by for a visit...
Love, Light and Peace...Bonnie
