Finished PEACE journal page

On Monday I worked on this page and got a good start... you can look at the Unfinished page here 
but it was for 4 challenges and I promised that I would finish it up and post the finished page... so here it is...  

And then on Tuesday the challenge at I am a Diva was to use the tangle brayd and I did.. but  I really love doing that tangle... so I had to use it around the word PEACE.... it just held PEACE all together...  and it was just what I wanted... 

So after you take a look at all those pages... here are the rest of the pictures I took of this special page ... it is special as I have used it as a mantra for the past three days... calling for PEACE all over the world and sending love to all areas...  I do so wish we could live in peace and harmony...  

  
Around the page I have written words that are to help with creating peace... of course in my mind...  so this is the RESPECT area... respect others feelings... respect the earth, respect yourself...  the tangle up the side of the page here is for the EARTH MOTHER... whom we really need to respect greatly...  watch where you drive, save on fuel, preserve the air we breathe...  all that kind of thing... not just on one day a year... but everyday of the year...  I used my inktense pencils to color in the edges of this 12 x 12 page... 

Here is the top right hand corner of the page...  to Live Creatively and to think prior to doing something... think positively...

Boy do I love my inktense pencils... the colors are so very vibrant...  

Unity, Friendship, Unconditional love.... again... all powerful ways to live...  do you love this tangle called coaster or what???  An how about Brayd??? I love them both...  

Down at the bottom edge.. another favorite... girlande...  fun to do... fun to color.. and love the effects it gives... 

 Okay... here is BRAYD in all its glory... surrounding PEACE... the place of honor....  to hold the thought of peace in all our minds... and to create inner peace and then spread it to others...  down in the lower left corner... it says  JUDGE NOT OTHERS...  so very true...

The top of the page is a necklace piece... with a charm at the end... the charm is a diamond... the most valued gem...  we need to spread these words as valued gems too...  we need PEACE on the face of this earth... Mantra of my week...

Challenge #82 Brayd

Today over at I am a Diva Challenge Laura has given us the challenge of creating with the tangle BRAYD.... I love that one... so it is not  a problem at all... Shelly Beauch created this one... and it is magnificent to say the least..  I love the free feeling I was able to get using it on this tile....  

Okay... so I used the string from the #2 string at www.tanglepatterns.com   which is a good place to start to create with if you are a beginner... I started there 7 weeks ago now... and wow I am so very addicted to this fun, relaxing art form... I love it more today than I did yesterday... it is that kind of thing...  my love for this art truly grows even larger as every day passes...  I am sleeping better, and also digesting my food better!!!  Funny but it is the TRUTH!!!!   

Anyway... I used a lot of different tangles on this one... and had a blast doing this challenge... thanks Laura for the challenge... (I know that your life is full and totally appreciate all that you do and create...  Love to you and your family.  )   I did shade this piece... but I guess I have to do my shading darker... as when I scan this it just doesn't show up at all... or very faintly...  anyway... it was a fun challenge...

Peace to ALL

Happy Monday!!!  The first day of the week… and in my life always a good one…  I love Mondays as I can see what is going to happen this week.. what kind of things I will be getting into…  and this week proved to be no different for me… I have four challenges that this piece was created for…  It is in my large journal… the one that is 12 x 12 pages…  and most likely I will tangle around the edges…  I have to … I have been bitten by the tangle bug…  it is very addictive and I love it…  LOL… there are details on tangling all over the place…  and I also bought a few books… so I have totally indulged myself in the art of tangling…

I love this tangling.... so very relaxing and restful in so many ways...  

Twinkling H20's 

 

I started off with this page by creating on a piece of watercolor paper my background paper… I used my Twinkling H2’0 paints and then splattered gold Twinkling H20 on the paper… the paper shimmers and shines all over the place when you hold it…  this picture was taken with my camera… but when I scanned it, the paint turned to lighter colors…  but it like it both ways!!!  So that is okay… 

I had made this tangle over the week-end… and it is very intricate and it was so much fun to create… you can see some of my other tangles on the side bar…  go to Tangles a la Bonnie… it will start you off at the beginning of my tangling!!!  LOL.. I have only been tangling for 7 weeks now… and I love it.. of course I have to tell you that I have been doodling for over … well lets just say a LONG time…  over 60 years… My teachers would always get made, as sometimes I homework paper would be  a doodle… not kidding… I always loved my art much more than all the things that they were trying to teach me…  I guess I must have picked up enough info to get onto the next grade.. and that was enough for me… 

So the challenges that this is for…

Artists Play Room   Favorite colors…

       Like you, Jenn mine are Turquoise and lime… but with a dash of purple….  I love it… have been in love with this combo for quite a few years…  If you have ever studied the charkas of the body, you would know that green is for the heart center which is for LOVE  , and Turquoise if for the throat center, which is for TRUTH, and purple is for the top charka and it stands for SPIRITUALITY  …. So knowing that I feel that all these colors represent me to a T…. 

The third challenge is for Inspiration Avenue and you are to do a Zen Tangle…  Just so happens that I have one that I just finished… so I scanned into the computer… and then printed it and colored it with my Inktense pencils… they are super great pencils… if you have not seen them, go and take a look… t hey are like anyother colored pencil..  BUT when you use your water brush the color jumps out at you…. They are INKTENSE… they are clear like an ink.. and deep like a rich paint… what a wonder they are… 

The fourth Challenge is for Art Journal Café… and this one challenge is to tell what super power you would like to have!!!  Well here is my super power… I would like to be able to heal all the sick people, give money to all the poor people, but most of all… to create PEACE and Harmony all over the world…  that is so very important today…  but as we know… we must create that within our selves first… and then spread that throughout the world…. So I wish that…  with all my heart…

Can you find the CAT???

This month on Altered Alice we have the honor of having Dilly Beans as our sponsor...  So you will see some really cute digital images here... 

 Before I show you the finished page, I am going to walk you thru the process...as I get so many questions about how I built a particular page etc.. so here are the facts... 
I started off with my favorite paper of all times... white CARD Stock!!!   nd I stamped some rubber stamps that I had made... I use so many leaves in my art, that these are amoug my fav's...  some archival Olive ink.. and that was done... then I used some Twinking H20's and colored the background...  I love this kind of look...  It is muted but great for the background of this active colorful page...

I also used a stencil with a gold dabber to create the branches...

I have just gotten bitten by the Zen Tangle bug... and can't seem to stop doing everything in Tangles... LOL.. but I love it... so I had to add something to this challenge that I did in a tangle...  so here is my tree...  the 'snake' looking things are really suppose to be roots of the tree... oh well... I get carried away a little bit...  

I did this with a micron pen and then added color pencil to it.. . and then cut it out for this journal page... as I needed the separated limbs for something....   

Here is a close up of the branch... so that you can see all the little circles, and the leaves...  

Also the limbs... which are all done in the same pen and colored pencil.   

I love the tangles in this tree.. I had so very much fun with it all... 

Here is the top of the page , which is all tissue paper that I have dyed with Dylusions... love those sprays...  the colors are so very vibrant...  anyway.. .when the papers are dry, I glue them onto the page... and allow them to go where they want too... 

Okay...  so I created what is better known as a wiper card...  you can find the directions here... on SplitCoast Stampers... It is very easy to make... so I created that and attached it to my page... the reason for that is because I wanted to hide the little cat!!! 

This is  the completed page... but you haven't seen it all yet... The Queen of Hearts and Alice are on their way to play croquet and they are walking to the palace... and Alice kept on feeling like someone was following them... and low and behold... guess who it was???

Here is a close up of Alice and the Red Queen of Hearts... how precious are they???? 

Well there he is.... in postion that you always see this crazy cat... peeking out from behind a tree... LOL...  he is so funny...  I love him.... 

Here is a close up of the little one... peeking out of the tree branches...  I had a lot of fun making this page... and after I finished it, my neighbor and friend Sande came over to play for  a little while... and she fell in love with it... she is an Alice lover too... so she can really appreciate it... she kept on making the cat hide and then come out.. we are truly like two little kids playing!!!  And I love it all.. 

Well... that is the first project.. let me see if I can get this next one up...

You have to look into all the little cubbies of this configuration box... and maybe you will see him... 

Look carefully now!!!! He truly is hiding!!!  

On the very top of the configuration box, I had to add a Wonderland special... as things in Wonderland are never quite normal... or should I say that they are never quite the same as on this plane of living!!!  So I added a box that was a little bit unlevel!!!!  And put a dragonfly and a mushroom ...  the catterpillar has already turned into the beautiful butterfly... as you can see... 

I took one of those gold butterflies and colored it with alcohol ink and then decorated it with Liquid Pearls...

You can see the Blue and orange mushroom here... a good shot of the two mushrooms... which I made from air drying clay.. and then painted with my Ranger Alcohol ink refillable pens... which I love... I can make my own colors... which I do...  what fun!!! 

A Wonderland configuration box is not complete with out a tea party... but there is no cat in any of these boxes at all..  I colored the little tea party and then added the little brass cup and saucer and tea pot...

My neighbor Sande and I were building these together... she was using the smaller one... but I had already started to make this one... but we were having fun making them..  She has these really cute little tags that she had picked up... and that is where I got this cute little tea pot tag... Thanks Sande...   Nest to that on the left... are the flowers with faces... the talking flowers.. see I told you that nothing in Wonderland is 'normal'!!! 

No cat there either!!!! 

Well here is Sweet little Alice... with the Drink me bottle behind her... and also the key is hanging up too...  but I don't see a cat.... do you???

This little bone china tea set, I bought about 25 years ago... and didn't know why... but I thought it was cute... only a few inches tall... and so cute... so I knew that it had to go into my Alice STUFF... and so here it is... I love it...   It was not made in China... it was made in Japan!!! 

The Queen of Hearts sees that one of her roses is WHITE???? 

What is going on here!!!  But this cute little Queen doesn't seem the least bit upset over that... 

As you can see here... but do you see the cat...??? 

I wonder where it is??? 

I wanted to add more things to this box... but I dont' have any right now... but as time goes on I will add more things to this... But I did add this pretty alcohol paper to this cubby...  no cat here either.. so where is that silly cat hiding now???  you never can tell when he will appear at all... what a fun place this Wonderland is!!! 

Oh Wow... there is he...  all of a sudden he was there..!!!  Well I will be!!! 

Hiding there all the time... I told you he was a crazy one... but how cute is he... 

Well as you can see... I think that they little Dilly Beans are so very much fun...  I know that you will want to have them for your collection of ALICE things... so jump on over here and get them... 

Okay... while I was building my configuration box, my good friend and neighbor Sande had to do hers too... she is the one that got me all involved in Altered Alice...  so I felt it was only fair that I show you her's too... It is so cute...  

Well My charming dial up is at an all time low of 16kbps... very very slow.. but I am getting these pictures up.. but can't move them around or anything!!!  But you at least get to see them... right??? 

 Sande used a piece of plastic and stamped the Queen on it... and then put the white and red roses behind it...  

Anyway...  Can you see the cat in Sande's box...  no one can... because it is not in there yet...  so cute...  the tea cups are all weird... because it is Wonderland...   So wild...

Zendala #17 what a fun week....

This has been one of those weeks where I have gotten a lot of things done and also had time to play... love it when that happens.... I am crossing some huge things of my to do list... and that really makes me happy...  

One of the things that I really have to get busy with is my quilting... as I have to have this art quilt ready for the cooler weather... YIKES... it will be here before we know it...  

Each square is 22 inches of muslin and of course I have created each panel...  you can look at the other squares by clinking on the "Quilt" on the left had side of this blog...  there are others there...  if you missed them...  

So today I decided that my spare time would be doing a square with TANGLES.... love it...  I also colored it...  and it will be great in this quilt... I think I will do about 10 of them... this quilt has to huge... as the doors of my studio are huge... French doors, with two side ones...  large space that lets a lot of cooler air in, but only in the winter... LOL.. .wouldn't mind if it was NOW....  

Oh well... here is the panel I made on Wednesday...  

 I love the tangle Mi2... just can't stop doing it... everything around has it on it now... I have to stop doing that  habit of doodling on everything around...  


Anyway...  I didn't start to take

I got these little flowers in... and had to see what the color intensity was going to be like... I want this bright and cheery... as this is going to be on the inside of my studio... so nothing dark and dreary...  it has to be bold and bright...  

 pictures until I got to this point... sorry about that... I drew the tangle and then started to color the tangle...  


I will be adding some more dimension... but for now this is how far I got...  

 I love the colors... they are nice and bright.. so these panels will continue to make a statement... that is for sure... 

 This is what the first layer of paints... or I should say colored pencils is like... I did use my inktense pencils.. .I love them..  I do have to add more color.. but wanted to allow this to sink into my head as to what more I am going to do with it...  I think of so many things AFTER I finish something.. that this time I am waiting until I think of it ... then I will do it...  I want to bring the two sections together more... and will do that with another color... any suggestions... ??  I am open to maybe trying it... Thanks for the input... I really appreciate it...  

Well that is as far as I got on that this week...  

I also got a few other tangles done... practicing things... loving it all.. doesn't matter, as long as I tangle...  

So here is the Zendala #17 Challenge... Erin has asked that we think about a particular person in our own lives that cancer has effected and create the zendala with them in mind...  so I created this one for my Dad...  

 My Dad crossed over in the year 2000... he was a man that loved flowers... and his very favorite ones were gladiolas... and the apricot colored ones were his favorite of all.. Now I have a funny story to tell about these bulbs... we lived on Oak Tree Lane... which had quite a few Oak trees....  and they require that a lot of squirrels live there too... as the more acorns there were... the more squirrels there  were to eat them all... well they ate other things too... like gladiola bulbs...  one year my dad went to plant his bulbs and the squirrels had eaten them all... I though my dad was going to loose it... he was a very soft person... and didn't let out anger at all... so this was very rare... so he went out and bought new ones.. and gladiola bulbs were kept in the basement of the house from then on...   Anyway... this is for you Dad...  

 I got do involved in doing this, that I did a journal page on it... I cut my zendala out... and then adorned the pages...  

 My Dad was always cold.. so I made the pages warm...  with a tree in the background...  he loved trees too...   


His very favorite sweater was yellow... and so the yellow is a prominent color too....  

 His name was Warren Leadlie Nelson... and had many words of wisdom to share with me during his life time... I didn't always listen to his words when he spoke them... but I hear them all Dad... so don't worry the wisdom didn't get lost... and I hear quite a few every day of my life...  


I made the flower from a baby wipe...  I love making them... and wanted it to look like a gladiola... close enough...  


I send my love to my Dad... 

 Here is a close up of the Zendala on the colored page.... they look so different with other colors behind them... 

 Here is a picture of my Dad taken on one of my parents many trips... this was taken in Canada somewhere... he loved the flowers there too...  


His pants are not pink... he was a very prim and proper man... khaki pants was the casual dress for him...  but most of the time he had on a shirt and tie... and also a sport jacket... he was a CEO with Texaco for over 55 years...  

This is another one that I did... it is to represent the LOVE that is being sent to all the people all over the world that are having to deal with this dreadful experience... either first hand, or with someone close to them... Also to all that have been taken already... I send my love to you all...

Journal and tangles..

What could be more fun than doing two things that are so close to your heart???  Wow... so this afternoon I cleaned some stuff out of my studio... and decided that I fuss over that too much and pulled out a journal and started to tangle!!!  That is what I have to do all the time... forget about all these other things like cleaning, cooking, sorting, organizing, shopping, talking on the phone to friends... JUST TANGLE!!!!   lol... 

Anyway... here are a few the pages that I did... some are not really finished half way... so when they are.. . I will share.. 

I have to tell you that these journals I made about 3 months ago... I had tons of scrap papers that I had painted and so I tore them in half and bound them.. a perfect journal... as half of the painting is done... and I had a lot of fun creating it too... 

So all of these are from one journal... 

On this page... it happened to be the back side of a page... so I got to color it to match the one on the other side.... sooooo  I used my inktense pencils and then a waterbrush... I love the effect I got.. then I could tangle right on the page...  


I really wanted to say thanks to the rain gods for the rain today and yesterday... we have been very blessed with rain this season... and we are starting to pick the 3rd planting of green and yellow string beans.. .I love beans... and so I am in heaven over the rains... it brings the food so quickly...  almost Fast food... LOL...  not quite... 

 So I felt that this saying was perfect...  and I wanted to collect the confetti... (the rain) and use it in a positive way...  so I used my Y....  (I used some Liquid pearls for the confetti... and also some little asterisks.... just a symbolization.. so I most likely could have used anything...  

 This page is one of those papers that I just couldn't throw away... it was so wild and pretty... and I didn't think  I would be able to use it either... but this tangle was so perfect for it... so I enlarged it and went with it... and colored them different colors and twisted and turned them all different ways...  what fun... Balance and harmony...  something we all need to do... is to Live together in Balance and Harmony...  


Julie... this is a combination of your flower, leaf and I think another stencil...  wild colors and lots of love... can hardly wait to get those peacock feather stencil... love them too...  


 

A glittering paper.. sorry you can't see it in t his picture... but it is really pretty... everything has a lovely sheen to it... and it just glistens so very sweet and softly...  

I just wanted to send love to everyone... I feel that so many people are up set today... and I want to tell everyone from the highest point in the world that you are LOVED...  everyone in the universe...  

Sometimes we forget that we are loved and by so many people...  when you are in need to love, reach out and ask those around you for a huge or some kind words...  love everyone... don't judge them... just love them unconditionally...  

That is what that page is all about...  

My journaling has expanded with the help of Zentangles.. I love the two combined... a real natural..

Propped up Design

Sometimes life just  goes along smoothly like it should... while other times it is a mess plus...  I am just sailing along... having a blast with these Zen Tangles...  I am not sure if some of these are really tangles, but I have done them for years... and love doing them...  I have added some that are tangles...  but others are mine...  or do they all belong to the greater energy around us all???  

Oh well another long subject...  and very deep...  LOL...  

Here is my propped up design... I didn't want it to be laying down... it needed to be upright... so I made it come alive... 

 There is so much going on here... but I love it...  it is a wild thing...  
Almost looks like a heart... 
Or a very full paisley... ???
